Jim | 21812 comments Hi Jennifer
Congratulations for putting a full price list on your web page. It's nice to see someone upfront and honest about it.
I've already got an editor I'm happy with, but I hope things go well for you. Certainly there are plenty out there who need an editor!

I learned the hard way that I needed an editor, and I'd encourage other writers to think very seriously about being professionally edited.

If Patti is looking in, would it be an idea to have an area on the boards where editors and proofreaders can hang out? Whilst it might be seen as advertising, having them all in one spot would let us compare prices etc :-)
On a serious note it might rescue some of our aspiring writers from those companies who'll edit your book for $2000 !

You think this thread would not be a good spot for it, Jim?

I find one thread on a topic seems to work better than multiple threads in one section, but of course we're open to suggestions if anyone can think of a way it'd work better.

:)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments Actually, Patti, it would be good to have an area for advertising useful 'skills'. I'd love to be able to say 'I design book covers', but it would get lost in my author thread and it would be spamming anywhere else.

But then again, this is supposed to be a group for readers, so maybe it's not really appropriate at all?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I think the group is whatever we members want it to be.

Let me have a chat with Simon, okay? We're getting together for a meal soon (Christmas eve! Can't wait!) and we'll discuss all sorts then. Ermm...unless we get through the bubbly too quickly. Then we'll just end up giggling until the wee hours as we did last year...

I'll try and talk to him today. ;)
