My library doesn't have the earlier books of this series - not until A Stillness in Bethlehem. I'm going to try putting in for an ILL.

Anne Pichette | 147 comments I just finished reading this book. I really enjoyed it. I have read some of the later Demarkian books but I had never read this one. It is a great introduction to the charachters a number of whom show up in later books.

Melodie (melodieco) I haven't read a Gregor Demarkian book in a few years, but remember this one being really good. It's where he meets Bennis!

Karen Cameron (kjcall) | 33 comments I must be alone in my perception of this book as I am having a hard time getting into it. I am in part II and waiting for it to take off. I hope it turns out to be as good as others have said.

G Hodges (glh1) | 30 comments So far, about half way through the first book, Not a Creature Was Stirring and though it feels a little dated, I am really enjoying it.

ChrisGA | 48 comments I read this series years ago and enjoyed rereading NOT A CREATURE WAS STIRRING. Gregor is so wounded in this book and the whole Armenian neighborhood thing seemed to make more sense after reading more in the series.

As far as the Hannafords, what a wretched family. It was good though to see Gregor perk up.

I got my copy from the library on Friday, but I have a few other books I need to read before I start this one. I hope to get it done before the end of the month!

I'm with you so far...

I have given up on this book and will not finish it. I feel that it had too many characters and all the interactions were too disjointed. What is the point of Donna, a young pregnant girl, in connection with a Main Line murder? Too much effort to stay with it.

The book finally came in and I picked it up yesterday. I have one book I'm almost done with, and then hope to start Not a Creature was Stirring.

If you just skim through the neighborhood stuff, the mystery is pretty good. All the Armenian-American characters are in each book in the series---after a while, they become more comfortable.

This book reminded me of Agatha Christie---a connection referred to in the book as well as calling Gregor the Armenian-American Hercue Poirot.

message 18: by Iamabibliophile (new)

Iamabibliophile | 201 comments I suppose I didn't identify enough with the characters in this one to enjoy it. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

Putting this one on the did not finish shelf...I skimmed the last half and read the end.

Looking forward to the next batch.

I had some trouble getting into the book and have set it aside. I don't think it's the book, I'm just not in the mood for it. I must be picky right now, I've also given up on two other cozies.

G Hodges (glh1) | 30 comments I finished the book a while ago and while it had it's flaws, I liked the main characters and the world which nurtures Gregor.
