Shanna_redwind I can't wait! I'm sure it'll be great.

Liz I'm just dying to see it. Most of my friends are too. It won't surprise me if we get a group of 5-10 to all go see it together!

Susie Walker I will for sure!! Will even call off work! LOL

Scott No.

The LOTR films were very hard to sit through, and this is only one normal sized book padded out to two films.

I might rent it at some point.

Nadia Without a doubt I will be seeing it!! Been waiting for it since the first Lord of the Rings Movies!

Lauren Stoolfire Yes! Preferably at the midnight showing :)

Rose Tirzah wrote: "I'm with Scott. I might rent it. That way, I can grumble and complain about the discrepancies w/out disturbing the crowds. :)"

Bahaha that's a good way to go if you think you are going to want to make comparisons!

Personally the LOTR and now The Hobbit are films that I enjoy seeing on the big screen and so I am very excited. I do understand why people find them too long though.

Hannah hopefully on opening night, can't wait!!

Hey I hate to break this to you but its been padded out to THREE films now :(

I have no idea what the reasoning behind this is.. The Hobbit was the shortest of all the books and it's being made into three movies.. >_> The movies were already extremely hard to sit through (I love them, but my ADHD kicks in after 2 hours)

Supernova I'm eagerly awaiting The Hobbit Movie adaption. Really excited to see Peter Jackson adapt yet another Tolkien book. Martin Freeman is an excellent choice to play a younger Bilbo. From what I've seen from the trailers, its going be yet another epic tale. :¬)

Sparrowlicious I'll see the first one on the premiere on 12th Dec. :D

I mean yeah, book to movie adaptions are never perfect and ugh, I seem to be the only person who dislikes the 'Lonely Mountains' song (apart from when the dwarves sing it in the trailer) but at least it's a nice view and I get to see it together with my friends and in English too. <3 Plus, I really like Martin Freeman. xD

Michael O'Donnell Mmmmmm. No

This is one epic story but in one book. It kind of needs to be in one release. This movie might be 2 x 2 episodes. People can watch them back to back or as two halves. When all are out I will have a marathon. Tragically the children will probably not wait.

I plan to see the movie, oddly enough, one of the things I find myself anticipating the most is the musical score. I thought Howard Shore did a beautiful job on LOTR, and I can't wait to find out what The Hobbit soundtrack will be like. Does anyone know who the composer is?

Audrey Klosterman me absolutely!!!!!!!!

message 16: by Ruth (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruth of course I'll be watching it!

Sarah I wanna watch but the thing is... I haven't read the book!!! I've read the three of course, but I keep putting off reading The Hobbit for several years already. I want to watch when I know what the heck is happening on-screen so maybe I'll no watch it now but will def will after I read the book.

meghana I pre-paid for premiere day tickets. No taking chances for me. I WILL see this movie!

I heard something alarming. Apparently since they used 48 seconds per frame, the experience draws you in as if you're there, but by the end you have a huge headache and it starts feeling trippy. Is this good or bad?

Sarah duh. of course im watching it!!!! its gonna be 3 parts! i hope its good

message 20: by Areeba (new) - added it

Areeba heck ya i wil watch it or so help me and hey sarah :)

message 21: by M. (last edited Dec 05, 2012 07:41PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

M. I read the Hobbit for the first time when I was about 10 years old. Then again in highschool along with the other LoTR books and the Silmarillion. I watched the Rankin and Bass cartoon adaptations of the books as well and can still recall the lyrics to the songs in the Hobbit! lol I found that Peter Jackson brought the books to life for me and I am sure that the Hobbit will be spectacular. Do I think that he is stretching the book out to three films to make obscene amounts of money? YES! Will I pay money to see/buy the DVDs? Resounding YES!

Howard Shore is amazing. The Music from LOTR was the first time I separated the music from the movie, if that makes sense. Normally, it's like a part of the show. I love the feeling I get when I hear one of the songs and it takes me back the movie, which I practically know by heart.

Becky  Just finished listening to book on Audible, today. Can't wait to see how 8 Chapters turns into 3 Peter Jackson movies. It will be a fun ride.

Rolana Definitely want to see this. I've read it and all the Lord Of The Rings books so I've been waiting for the movie less than patiently.

Denise I'll watch the movie regardless of reviews because I adored the book when I was a child and I think it will be fun to revisit some of the nostalgia.

The Howard Shore score is wonderful. Rollingstone.com had it up almost in its entirety to listen to as a preview, so I spent a couple days absorbing that. Definitely one to buy when it comes out. I'll add to my playlist of things I listen to while I'm writing!

Elizabeth Baxter Lauren wrote: "Yes! Preferably at the midnight showing :)"

Me too! Although I'm at work the next day so I might be a bit tired. I've heard mixed reviews of it so far but I'm taking them with a pinch of salt. After the HUGE success of the LOTR films, people will be on the lookout for the tiniest flaw in the Hobbit.

Tucker WOO!(explanation point)Opening night tickets!! almost got two pre-screening tickets too. oh well:

The hobbit! directed by Peter Jackson!

Woo!

claire definitely its gonna be good!!

message 34: by K.S. (new) - rated it 5 stars

K.S. Dearsley The local cinema's going to have it in 3D and 2D - I might have to watch both (purely for research purposes, of course!)

message 35: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey I have tickets for opening night in IMAX 3d!! I cannot wait. I have read this book easily over 10 times along with the LOTR trilogy. It means so much to me.

message 36: by Lynx (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lynx I CAN'T WAIT!!!! We're going to see it with my cusin in North carolina around new year's. Do we have to wait for pt 2? I really hope not.

T.E. Elena wrote: "I CAN'T WAIT!!!! We're going to see it with my cusin in North carolina around new year's. Do we have to wait for pt 2? I really hope not."

Actually I understand there will be three movies. The first one ends at chapter 6 of the book.

Richard i can't see what's too look forward to at all. i'm reading the book to my son at the moment and we're enjoying it, but the idea of a brisk exciting read being turned into a nigh on 9 hour movie is uninspiring

personally, i couldn't give an shit about the appendicies and the additional material he's shoe horned in - it's a kids book and i wanted to see a kids film made of it to watch with my kids. instead he seems to have made a naval scratching movie for die hard fans only.

i'll watch it on dvd in about 4 years when the sequels are all done and dusted, but i don't think it will hold a candle to the enjoyment of reading it to my son

message 39: by Lily (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lily I'm planning to watch it as soon as it comes out - it's not everyday that one can watch a prequel...

message 40: by May (new) - rated it 5 stars

May Everyone will see it!!! The soundtrack is already out, and is amazing.

Michael Will be watching it tonight, the 23:59pm showing at my local cinema!

false. He did not go into the forest to drive out Sauron, but instead to drive out the necromancer, played/voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Chanaka Hettige I will. But I have doubt whether this is going over the limit. 300 page book in 3 films is not feeling right. I have read a article by Peter Jackson justifying that. But I have doubts. Have to wait and see.

Mercer ME ME ME

Wanda Sandyboy wrote: "i can't see what's too look forward to at all. i'm reading the book to my son at the moment and we're enjoying it, but the idea of a brisk exciting read being turned into a nigh on 9 hour movie is ..."

There actually were a few animated films made, one of The Hobbit, and a two-parter of the LOTR trilogy. Back in the 70's or early 80's I think it was.

Wanda I am eagerly looking forward to it. Enjoyed the LOTR trilogy too, even though I kept whining, "But that wasn't in the book!!!" during some of it, LOL.

message 47: by Karla (new) - added it

Karla Goodhouse I'll be going to see it, but I think I'll opt for the 2D screening.

Rosun Rajkumar Absolutely! I got the book recently, have to finish it before the movie releases!

Katherine Me, I own the one Ring and wouldn't even think of reading Harry Potter or a Potter movie until after I finished the full LOTR's books. I read them all in middle school for my own entertainment. Plus my boyfriend knows how much of a fanatic I am about LOTRs and the Hobbit. We meet in eighth grade and now we are almost 30 years old, and still fanatics over it. LOTR's is always first over Harry Potter and Twilight for me.

Audrey Klosterman It's out today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
