I too read THE HOBBIT to both my sons, many years ago when they were young. They are grown men now......the oldest told me that he loved it growing up that I read to them every night....and he said his best memory of it is when I read them my 50th anniversary edition outloud to them.....so...Sandyboy....your son is so lucky that you are reading it to him.....things of good memories......I am excited about the movie, and hope to see it with my sons.

Matthew Nowakowski It's great, just as good as the others.

Kathy ♡ I'm seeing it today at 10 P.M!! I would've seen it yesterday, but my bro was too lazy and took a long nap... >.<

BookDeliria (Dia) awesome. :D Worth the moolah!

Dolf When I was at the movies with my son to watch SkyFall, we saw the trailer of The Hobbit. Although we liked Jame Bond we both thought the Hobbit would be much better.

Aww...that sucks, hope you get better! :D

Mark It will be a family outing for sure.

Scott I saw The Hobbit yesterday. It was GREAT!! The movie deviated from the book as much as the LOTR movies did, but it seemed to work out very well. I loved watching the bad-ass dwarves carve their way thru enemies! There was the comedic and the touching as well, so over all I heartily recommend this movie to everyone!

Hannah I'm going sometime this week. Does someone want to tell if its good or not?

Nat I'm a total LotR geek so I loved it, despite its long length!
My only real concern with it was that it seemed almost like an episode, and hinted at the end that the real adventure would start in the next movie.

The dwalves were pretty awesome though and kicked some goblin butt in this movie!

Conrad Jones I watched it on Wednesday with 7 year old twin boys in 3d. It was amazing they are now convinced they want to be Hobbits when they grow up !!!

Sophie OMG YES! I am in Launceston, Tassie, so it only came out yesterday, but I am watching it this Sunday. Hopefully it will be awesome - it will really suck if it downgrades the book.

Now I feel the need to watch all three extended edition LOTR movies now. iTunes has them in HD and it's raining this week. Hmmm

Kurt The Hobbit movie was great! I really had my doubts when I heard this was part 1 of 3, even though it was by Peter Jackson, but it was very well done. I had a fear that he would inject his own stuff into it just to make the movie 3 hours long, but he really didn't. Instead, he just lengthened certain parts... all in all, it completely sucked me in! I can't wait for part 2, which I heard will be called "The Desolation of Smaug" or something like that. It opened here in Pennsylvania on December 14, and I went the next day to avoid most of the rush. I was so captivated that I woke up the next morning and watched all 3 LOTR movies on DVD!

Vintage Lady We went to the midnight showing on the 13th. It was awesome. I would like to see it again. You don't always get everything in the first viewing. I loved it in 3D.

Sophie I saw the movie the other day and OMG it was great! They did a really good job of following the book - the only differences I found were in the cave with Golum and when they were about to be eaten by trolls - and they were only very small differences! I really suggest to go watch it, it was AMAZING!

and the pale orc, which really bothered me. In lotr's Peter Jackson made Aragorn have a personal battle with Saron which didn't happen in the book. Now they make Thorin their Aragorn!
