Akanksha | 1 comments Hi everyone, I'm Akanksha! I admire Stephen King a lot, both as a storyteller and an absolute master at his craft. I'm currently reading 'On Writing' and I've never come across a more valuable, insightful 'for-writers' book.

Honestly, I haven't covered a lot of his work (to be fair, it's a vast expanse) but I'm hoping to make my way through it all in this lifetime. My favourites so far have been Carrie and Misery.

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Akanksha: Welcome and very cool, same here! I have yet to read "On Writing" but heard it was fantastic. My first novel of the year was "Cell" by King and it rocked :-)

I also absolutely loved Carrie and Misery!

On Writing is essential for anyone who ever aspires to write fiction, horror or otherwise.

Carli | 4 comments Good morning from mid-Missouri! I've been on a bit of a Stephen King adventure for the past couple of years, and am really looking forward to completing his entire bibliography. I've listened to 80% of his books and am so happy with all of the wonderful narrators I've heard! I'm currently listening to 1922 (I've read this one before, but really wanted to hear it as well), and I'm reading On Writing, which is funny and inspiring. It's absolutely one I wanted to read rather than listen to, though. I've also read a lot of Joe Hill, whom I think is insanely talented as a horror writer. Glad to find some fellow fans of Mr. King!

Welcome! I too live in Mid Missouri. Small world. Kind of. I absolutely love Joe Hill, as well as Tabby, but I feel almost guilty that I just can't seem to enjoy Owen's writing.

Hi Kandice! I haven't read any of Owen's, but it's on my to-do list! I feel like Joe's writing is almost like Stephen King concentrate, if that makes sense. Like it takes the essence of King's storytelling and emboldens and condenses it. He's also very much his own storyteller, though

message 4713: by David (new)

David Horne | 2 comments Hello all! I'm David, and excited to join this group of like-minded readers!
I was first introduced to Stephen King when I was a senior in high school, and Salem's Lot came out. Man, that book had a huge effect on me and changed my whole outlook on the Horror genre. I tend to think some people kind of turn their noses up at King's writing, but in the end, I feel that storytelling boils down to entertainment, and Stephen King has done a wonderful job of entertaining me for years.
I read all sorts of books, but I tend to gravitate toward Horror, Dark Fantasy, Action-Adventure, Historical Fiction, and History. I love writing as well, and I'm constantly looking for ways to improve my craft. Cheers!

McFudd (teeehm95) | 1 comments Hi guys 👋🏻 new to the good read scene and just got into reading consistently at the beginning of 22. I got into Stephen king after watching a movie based on one of his books. I’m a big believer of books before movies so this is why I started reading Stephen’s books.

I am 27, Scottish and a single widowed mum of one. I work part time as a dinner lady (awesome holidays 😂) I split my limited spare time between scrolling on TT, diy crafty things, reading and crocheting. All have half finished projects attached to their to do lists. Thanks for reading 💕

message 4715: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Welcome! I also started to seriously read in past year and Goodreads is great!!!

Horns! I vote you start there. It is one of my very favorite books of all time. I don't even know how many times I've read it.

NOS4A2 was also a series that was on for a couple of seasons. AMC carried it, I thought it was decent. Zachary Quinto really made the show.

message 4731: by Dana (new)

Dana Johnson (queenofstereo) | 76 comments Yes! I saw the show. Really liked it too. That was the first Joe Hill book I read and I had to read more. I was the same way with his dad; now I have all of SK’s works.

Juniper (juniirose) Hey yall! My names Juniper! I first got into Stephen King with The Institute. Honestly I bawled the entire time. But it really inspired me to read more of his work! Currently reading The Outsider and I'm horrified but so invested in how detailed his work is! My next plan is to start his new book Fairytale. The summary just seems like something "out of this world" and I'm excited.
