Nik | 1 comments Good evening to you all. I'm currently on a re-read of The Dark Tower, currently on The Drawing of the Three and I've noticed an error that I missed first time around. When we first meet Odetta Holmes she's chatting to her chauffeur (page 208) about the murder of JFK... "Three months and two days ago" she thought... Making the date they are at February 24 1964, yet, when her accident is mentioned (page 216) "Since August 19 1959, Some five and half years before..." That makes the date they're at February 19 1965!! Surprised this wasn't picked up before it went to print.

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Deity: LoL exactly the same here. I must have taken a 10+ year break from reading and now I'm an avid reader again as of July 2021! I got back into it and it rekindled my love for reading and everything :-)

Cobaltdragon | 59 comments Reading a variety of comments, seems I couldn't wait until the new year to get back to fiction reading. Visit to my public library yesterday

Stephen King - If it Bleeds and Thinner - 2 of his books I haven't read before. Will be awhile before I get to Fairy Tale unless I buy it because there are 20 holds meaning 20 people waiting to read the book.

Dean Koontz - Elsewhere - haven't read it before so will see how this goes.

John Saul - House of Reckoning - also a new read.

Sadly they did not have any Michael McDowell - Cold Moon Over Babylon or The Amulet. Even sadder hard to find paperback copies that do not cost a fortune. Both were great reads that I read decades ago and had copies. But as I typically only used to read fiction once, donated my collections over the years. Aaaah silly me.

My favourite books of his are: It, The Dark Tower series, Pet Semetary, Salem's Lot, The Outsider, The Stand, and more.
I read everything of his when it comes out.

Hi Jocelyne - I am also from Ontario. This year I just read Salem's Lot again - first read was after it was published back in the 1970's. Just finished If It Bleeds, enjoyed the read. Have a number of his books to catch up on as I tend to read mostly non fiction these days, but always enjoy his fiction as a break now and again.

Chris (lancelink) Hi. I'm Chris from the Blue Mountains in Australia. I've read and enjoyed a few Stephen King books. I particularly enjoyed The Stand and The Green Mile. I'm jumping in with The Cell and intend to follow the chronology from that point (perhaps with a doubling up of reading some of the earlier works). Thanks for the great list.

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Chris: Welcome as that's awesome! I loved IT, 'Salem's Lot, Misery, The Shining, and even Fairy Tale which was amazing to me :-)

Hi Mara. I read Carrie when it was first published, definitely one of my favourties. He definitely does a great job of writing about interesting characters and keeping the reader curious right up to the end of the novel.

message 4632: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Carro | 2 comments Long days and pleasant nights to all of you.

My name is Joe, I was born and raised in Maine, and consequently have always been a King fan since I was a wee tyke. His horror stuff is awesome (I'm a horror writer as well and love his son's work, too) but I prefer his non-horror stuff. I love the Dark Tower series (not the movie but I'm cautiously optimistic about the show). I also love his period piece movies, too, like Stand by Me and Shawshank Redemption, and Green Mile.

Right now, I'm living in Vermont after living in Mobile, Alabama during the pandemic. I also recently ordered Fairy Tale since I haven't read that one yet.

message 4633: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 1 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Melanie and I've been an avid reader and lover of literature ever since I was little. I was introduced to Stephen King by my 7th grade English teacher, who for some reason thought that I would enjoy It (even though at that time I wasn't super into horror). Well... turns out, he was right! Stephen King has been my favorite author ever since. But I'll read just about anything and everything!

Hope everyone is just having a wonderful morning/day/evening/night wherever they are :)

message 4634: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Joseph: Welcome and so awesome you're also from Maine like King! I visited Kennebunkport with my wife on a road trip and it was so much fun. Such friendly people, INCREDIBLE seafood, and an authentic Irish pub.

LoL it rained every single day we were there but it was an amazing vacation :-D

message 4635: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Melanie: Welcome and so awesome! IT was also my first-ever King novel and the same here, ever since then when I was a teenager after reading that, I became a Constant Reader. Been so for over 20 years now :-D

I hope your next cup of coffee or tea is amazing and looking forward to more conversations about my all-time favorite author!

Joseph Carro | 2 comments LTJ wrote: "@Joseph: Welcome and so awesome you're also from Maine like King! I visited Kennebunkport with my wife on a road trip and it was so much fun. Such friendly people, INCREDIBLE seafood, and an authen..."

Yeah, Kennebunkport is nice! It's funny because it actually doesn't tend to rain a ton there. When I was in Mobile, Alabama it rained literally every day at least for an hour haha. And yes ,if you love seafood it's the place to be. I was talking to Timothy Zahn once at a convention and he was super nice and he and his wife were staying in Maine and wanted to know some good seafood places but I am sadly not a fan of seafood except fried fish. I also acquired a taste for red snapper (blackened) down south haha.

Did you visit King's house while you were there?

message 4637: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Joseph: LoL WOW, I guess this New Yorker brought the rain or something when we visited. LoL that's so cool about Zach and no worries, are you more of a steak kind of person? I love steak, seafood, pasta, all that deliciousness :-D

I wish, we didn't but plan to in the future!

Jennifer Dobbs ☮️ (jennifer_dobbs) | 1 comments Hello group! From Cleveland, Ohio. I’ve been reading Stephen King since I was a teenager. I recommend his short stories to anyone I meet who is intimidated by his books. I love his descriptive writing that really sets the stage.

message 4641: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Jennifer: Welcome as that's so awesome, same here! You're right about that as I've read a few of his anthologies/short stories and they were amazing. He's the king of descriptive writing and atmosphere!

message 4642: by Sam (new)

Sam Hello there!
My name is Sam and I am from Adelaide, South Australia.
I am getting back into reading after having a break from it for a few years.
I am slowly getting into Horror and find myself really loving the genre! I am primarily reading Stephen King novels at the moment as I thoroughly enjoy his storytelling. I have read both The Body and Pet Sematary and am currently reading Salem's Lot.

message 4643: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Sam: Welcome and so awesome to hear that! I did the same until July 2021 when I became an avid/Constant Reader again and have been loving it ever since. I never read The Body but loved 'Salem's Lot and Pet Sematary :-)

message 4644: by Becca (new)

Becca (beccaskeck) | 2 comments Hello all! My name is Becca, and I joined because I have a goal to read all Stephen King books in chronological order! I have read quite a few already that I will reread, but I feel this will be a fun way to eventually read them all. I just started this challenge about a week ago, and am currently on book 2, 'Salem's Lot.

Happy Reading
New Year new reading goals

message 4646: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Becca: Welcome and so awesome, good luck with that as I love the idea! One of the things I plan to do in life is to read every single thing Stephen King wrote. LoL it'll obviously take some time but I'll get there one day :-)

I love 'Salem's Lot so much! Enjoy and happy reading!

❀Heather❀Brown❀ (bookgirlbrown_reviews) | 1 comments Hey everyone. Heather here. I actually live 15-20 mins from SK. He does a lot for his community. He wrote my husband after some work with a Search & Rescue group once even. Anyways love all things dark, creepy, and scary since I was a kid. I remember watching IT at 5 years old and the Shining at age 9. For the rest of my life I can’t be in a bathroom with a closed shower curtain 😂😂 true story.

message 4648: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Heather: Welcome, my friend! WOW, that is so awesome as that's great to hear how much King does for the community as I figured. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, LoL even though he writes what he writes :-)

I remember first seeing IT/The Shining/Cujo at an early age and being mystified. LoL never looked at clowns, hotels, or St. Bernards the same ever again...

Then you might not want to watch Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.
