It must depend on the books though. I have loved all the SK books I've reread recently ... just as much or more than the first time. Guess it depends on the author! :-)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Alex: You're very welcome, my new friend! Same here, LoL funny enough, one of my lifetime reading goals is to read everything he's written at least once. LoL will obviously take some time but I'm chipping away each year :-D

message 4577: by Adam (new)

Adam | 1 comments Hey, i'm Adam. Been a constant reader for a few years. I've never followed a reading schedule before so excited to give it a try. I'm looking for more people to engage with and talk with about the world of books. I've just started reading Fairy Tale, so if anybody wants to talk about it as I read feel free to get in touch.

Also recently started the Dark Tower series so will be returning to that soon, hopefully. My favourite SK at the moment has to be either Pet Semetary (for the ending) or just the expanse of The Stand. I've heard good things about Fairy Tale, so i'm excited to get going with it!

message 4578: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Adam: Welcome as that's pretty awesome! Yeah, I know what you mean, I've always enjoyed groups/bookclubs since it keeps me focused on actually reading the monthly group reads on a daily basis. At least for me, it definitely helps :-)

I finished Fairy Tale in September and absolutely loved it, happy reading!

We’re looking for participants in our study! If you might be willing to participate in an interview (ca. 30 minutes) over Zoom, we’d like to find out what readers like you would like to see in a project driven by “citizen readers”?

@Jody Hi Jody. Like you I have been on good reads for awhile but just started getting active a little while ago. Partly to do the book challenge and partly because of this group. I read Carrie when it first came out, have been a Stephen King fan ever since. Of all his books I think Misery was the scariest. Most of his work you can chalk up to, imagination. Misery was just a little too real.

@Lyle Hi. I began reading his work back in the '70's. Started with Carrie and continued reading up to Delores Clabourne. Just getting back to his works. Salem's Lot is definitely one of my favourites, just read it a few months ago. As great the second time as the first.

@Adam Hi I don't follow a reading schedule, but lots of interesting comments here. I haven't read Fairy Tale yet but a lot of folks are talking about so is on my to read list. Currently I am reading non-fiction but all the talk about King and Koontz is definitely getting me interested in taking a break and getting back to fiction in between.

Have you read Fairy Tale by King yet? Not really horror, more of a fantasy but my goodness, it was AMAZING to me and might even be my favorite novel of 2022!

message 4585: by Emily (new)

Emily | 5 comments Hello!!!
I have it downloaded and it’s on my list but I haven’t gotten far with it but it sounds so interesting to me!

a spousty dalších.

Deity World (deityworld) Hi all pleased to meet you I am a new Stephen king reader and have so far read 3 of his books. Gotta say they are much scarier than the movies.

message 4597: by Cobaltdragon (new)

Cobaltdragon | 59 comments @Deity World Hello and welcome to a great group. I agree his books are definitely scarier than the movies. I enjoy his writing style, keeps you going right up to the last chapter. Which 3 have you read? I started years ago with Carrie. This year I read Salem's Lot for the second time. Planning to revisit a number of his other books.

Hello I have currently read - fairytale, Carrie, pet semetary and Cujo, Cujo is the only movie I haven’t seen. I also enjoyed his book on writing too.

message 4599: by Cobaltdragon (new)

Cobaltdragon | 59 comments 3 great reads. I haven't seen the updated version of Carrie - I watched the original. Saw Cujo - creepy movie. Think I saw Pet Cemetary, but I preferred the book. The Shining is also a great read and the movie was equally creepy. Interesting book as it is based on a real hotel that Stephen King stayed at, where he got the idea for the book.
