Carlos Rios | 5 comments Hello from Miami!

My name is Carlos and I have been a Stephen King junkie for a long time. I'm happy to be here!

I am currently reading the Dark Tower series (again!), and I will be reading Billy Summers also, soon!

Erik Swanson (eas94) | 2 comments Hello, everyone. I’m a class of 2013 graduate from Blackstone Valley Vocational High School. I pursued manufacturing there from 2010-13 because I didn’t get in till my sophomore year. I’m still in the manufacturing field with working as a machinist, plus working at Home Depot, but have branched out into other interests and endeavors. Next week on Thursday I’ll be appearing as a guest on the TV talk and variety show “Topic Time” with the host, Harrison Blake Young, to promote my writing, literary work, and discussing other things as well. So please check it out in Easton, Mass at the time to be announced. Then catch it off of YouTube from the Easton Community Access Television and Topic Time website. All together, I have written four books within the past three years. One being the first to a sci-fi, fantasy, and adventure series “Tales Of Alandria Bridging Of Worlds” and the other three “Lost Case Encounters” “Corrections Mayhem” and “Among Altin” being sci-fi horror novels, first one being a collection of three short stories of my own.

Cobaltdragon | 59 comments Hi CJ Salem's Lot one of my favourite King novels. Just read it for the second time in Mar. 2022, first read was back in the 1970's. Definitely one of the better vampire novels.

I started with Carrie shortly after it was published. I have always enjoyed his writing style. Just the right amount of scare.

Welcome, Shamus. Misery is a great introduction to King, mine was The Shining.

message 4469: by Philip (new)

Philip III Hello everyone! My name is Philip and I recently joined this group in an effort to share my enjoyment of SK with others. I didn’t start reading King until he released The Outsider, but have completed the Bill Hodges trilogy, 11/22/63, Eyes of the Dragon and of course some of his early classics since. I’ve finally decided to start the Dark Tower series and hope to wrap up book one today. Great to meet everyone.

message 4470: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Phillip: Welcome and very cool! You definitely came to the right group and even though I've yet to read all those King novels you mentioned, they're on my TBR! LoL hopefully sooner rather than later I'll get to them :-)

message 4472: by Harmony (new)

Harmony | 2 comments Hi, I am Harmony from the United Kingdom. I own an extensive amount of works by Stephen King but have unfortunately never read any. I have always wanted to delve into his world but have been apprehensive in the past due to shear amount of connections flooded throughout the books. It feels like I'm starting a TV series with 100 seasons!!

However, as daunting as I find it, I am finally ready to explore the Stephen King universe and I look forward to the adventure!

message 4473: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Harmony: Welcome and ah, I know what you mean! I think unless you're reading a Stephen King series (Gwendy's Box, Dark Tower, etc.) then you don't have to worry about missing anything out that's connected.

What do you plan to read first from the amazing King universe? :-)

I was going to read chronologically as that seemed rather logical, however after some research I've decided to start with Misery. I have just started and am only a few pages in, but I am already enthralled by King's writing style!

message 4475: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Harmony: Ah, I see, that's awesome! I re-read that a few months ago and absolutely loved it. Happy reading and you're in for quite the ride thanks to our friend ‎Annie Wilkes LOL

Robert Owen | 5 comments Hey guys! My name is Robert. I joined this group to add to the experience of diving into SK's world. I haven't read any of his books, but have some knowledge through movie remakes. I have to decide which one to begin with and can't wait to start.

message 4478: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Robert: Welcome and awesome! You're in for a treat, there are so many Stephen King masterpieces to jump into that it's going to be a ton of fun. Enjoy and yeah, LoL always hard to pick the first one to jump into.

If it were me, I'd say Misery, IT, The Shining, 'Salem's Lot, or even one of his several anthologies of short stories. Either way, you can't really go wrong :-)

Lisa | 10 comments Hi everyone! I'm excited to join this group. I am a lifelong Stephen King fan. I love the Dark Tower series the most and am wanting to reread the entire series. I see you are reading Wolves of the Calla which I read when it first came out. So, I don't remember it well enough to get involved in the discussions. Hopefully at some point you guys will go through the series again. I am currently working my way through Nightmares and Dreamscapes and The institute (at a snails pace tbh). I am looking forward to the joining you guys in the discussions for Fairy Tale.

I may read that one again, I read it, dare I say, 15+ years ago. I've had the book a while and skipped around a lot. Now that it's old and falling apart, I am trying to finish it up. So far Crouch End is my favorite but, that could change.

Glennis | 16 comments I'm Glennis, well over the age of majority, and a Constant Reader.
My neighbor offered to let me read their shiny copy of The Shining long about 1978, '79. I was enchanted with the writing style, and King has been one of my favorite authors. For the better part of 40 years, Christmas has found a new hard-bound King book beneath the tree. I haven't read all... I have a few years when reading time was limited. My all-time favorite is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. Won't say why here... I'm looking forward to chatting with other "Constant Readers"!!

message 4500: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Glennis: Welcome and wow, that's so awesome! Also been a Constant Reader for decades now and am trying to read everything Stephen King ever wrote and well, one day and one novel at a time :-)
