Noah Hare | 3 comments Hi, I'm Noah and I want to get into some of kings work. I haven't even seen a lot of the movies that are based on his books. So I'm really excited to see what he has to offer.

Emily | 32 comments hi Noah, what Stephen king books have you read?

Noah Hare | 3 comments Emily wrote: "hi Noah, what Stephen king books have you read?"

I've only read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon for a school project and I was massively disappointed. So I kind of stayed away from his work the last two years. I joined to see what book everyone would recommend and to discuss these books.

Amelia Harrell (ameliaharrell) | 114 comments That’s great! Well, we do one book a month as a group read, and we also have buddy reads groups going for both It and The Dark Tower series right now. You can also propose a buddy read at any time. For a good start in King, I recommend trying The Shining, Pet Semetary, Cujo, or any of his other early writings.

Thanks I will definitely give these a read.

Emily | 32 comments I would reccomend his early writings aswell. I think Carrie would be a good place to start because that was his first published book.

I am currently in my final year of highschool and started reading again and I am really loving Stephen King atm. I am also new on Goodreads so don’t hesitate to add me as friend!🥰

message 4368: by Zamira (new)

Zamira | 1 comments Hello everyone. My name is Zamira and I discovered Stephen's books last year. I mean, I already knew this author and saw some movies, but had never read it before, until December 2021, my husband gave me Pet Sematary and I loved the book, I loved it .... I became a fan of Stephen King with a single book.

message 4369: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Weeks | 7 comments Hi! I am Bailey. Stephen King is the one author I feel like I can count on to tell me a good story. I started off reading The Shining in college. It was not my favorite, however, it started my love for reading as well as my love for his writing. I now basically just collect his books and other SK paraphernalia.
I would say my top 3 favorite books by him would be 1) 11-22-63 2) Needful Things 3) It
-- although Desperation in an honorable mention:)

Welcome! Have you seen the show Hemlock Grove on Netflix? If not, Bill is one of the stars and I bet you would like it! One of the few times an adaptation of a book was better on the screen.

message 4374: by Jalayne (last edited Jan 05, 2022 11:09AM) (new)

Jalayne | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm Jalayne and live in the U.S. I'm 23 years old and have been reading Stephen King books since high school. I've always been a huge fan of mystery, thriller, and horror books.
The first Stephen king book I read was Firestarter from my high school's library. I then quickly read Night Shift and Lisey's Story.
I have also read Duma Key; The Shining; Doctor Sleep, the first two Dark Tower novels; The Eyes of the Dragon; and Insomnia. I usually have to wait to read another of his books as they typically are long and sometimes take a lot out of me. My favorite one so-far is The Shining.
I hope to eventually read all of his books and watch the films. I'm excited to be in a group that appreciates his books as much as I do.

Lauren Kutz (psulauren9) | 1 comments My name is Lauren. I'm from PA. My husband and I are big Stephen King fans who proudly display their SK collection for all visitors to see. I think I have read close to 20 Stephen King books. My husband has only about 6 or 7 remaining to read. We had the chance to travel to Bangor, ME last spring and saw the famous SK house and took the SK tour. It was amazing! If you ever get the chance to go, the tour is worth every penny. My favorite SK book that I've read so far is The Institute. The first SK book that I ever read was IT. It is nice to meet you all!

That's awesome about King's house and the tour! Have you ever been to the Stanley Hotel? I live just about an hour away from it. I stayed there once as a teenager. It's amazing and also well worth the price! Welcome to the group!

Kaleigh Morgan | 1 comments Hi! I’m Kaleigh, I’m from the gulf coast of MS! I love reading Stephen Kings books!! IT was the first King book that I read and I LOVED the amount of detail he used. The scenes felt so real and actually made me feel paranoid while reading. But, in a good way haha. I also loved Four Past Midnight and I’m currently reading The Stand. I’m still new to Goodreads and groups so I’m super excited to have found this group!! Can’t wait to hear from everyone!!

message 4382: by Rev. Ravyn (last edited Jan 25, 2022 08:55AM) (new)

Rev. Ravyn Onca (ravyn_onca_hps) | 14 comments Hello and good morning everyone! I'm Ravyn. I, too, am unsure if I ever formally introduced myself here. :)?

In 2022, I hope to read more Stephen King and join in on some of the discussions, starting with Dreamcatcher. Since a few years back, I have been expanding my SK collection of hardcover novels for my personal library. I am a writer myself and I primarily read for inspiration. As I add books, I try to read (or reread) them and lately have been falling behind. I have always enjoyed his short stories, too!

Anyway, a heartfelt thank you to the creators of this group. I am certain my knowledge and understanding of Stephen King's works will be enhanced by being a member here.

Welcome Jordan, I'm currently reading The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin, the third book in his vampire apocalypse trilogy which I got into by way of a recommendation from King back when he wrote a column for Entertainment Weekly.

Welcome! Since you liked Gerald's Game, I can't recommend the movie on Netflix enough. Mike Flannagan was born to adapt King and Carla Gugino is the perfect Jesse.

message 4397: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenreadsthings) hey there

my name's Jen. I have no idea what information to actually put here so I will just say that I've been a huge fan of Stephen King for the majority of my life. He and Dean Koontz were the ones who really got me started into reading when I was ten, so that's a cool little tidbit. I'm joining some groups on here cause I don't have too many book enthusiasts in my life and I could really go for some book friends. :) I read a wide range of things, and I'm always looking for something new.

Sarah Hello everyone. I have been a King fan for like, almost 30 years. Started reading his stuff when I was in high school, and recently decided to start over and read them all again, chronologically (for no particular reason). :)
