Hello everyone, Fernando here.I became a fan a couple of years ago, starting with Night Shift and the Bill Hodges trilogy. Those books alone were enough for me to go back to reading after many years of "reader's block".
So far, The Stand and The Shining (finished yesterday) are my favourite novels.
The Jaunt and The Last Rung on the Ladder are my favourite short stories.

Hi everyone, I've been a constant reader since Carrie came out. I read several different genres, but King is my favorite author.
Hi all. I'm new to this group. I read a few of King's books and at the moment I'm reading (listening) to the second of the Dark Tower book - athe Drawing of The Three. I found the first one so slow and hard to follow, but the second one is a bit more engaging.
Hello! I'm Jeni, 37, from Germany.I'm a fan of Stephen King since I was 14. I secretly took a random book from my mom's collection which happened to be "Regulator". Had to sleep with a night light for a week, but I'm still hooked today!

Hi everyone! My name is Kristen, I live in the US! I recently rediscovered my love for reading last year during quarantine. I had read a couple King books in middle school, but it wasn’t until last year that I became a Constant Reader.
I’m currently reading his bibliography in order of publication! Different Seasons was my most recent read, and I’m very much looking forward to Christine.

Hello, Akbar here. I don't think i can call myself a Constant Reader yet, but i started with The Outsider in January and been reading at least 1 King books every month ever since. Currently reading The Institute, and will try older King works next month

The original copies flew under the radar and didn't mention Stephen King. After a real-life Frederick Clawson found out, they started adding King's name in later printings.

But to answer your question, Stephen King wrote under the penname Richard Bachman for a while. Wikipedia claims it is because there used to be a stigma for writing a book too fast, so he used a penname to publish more than one book a year.
Now that King's famous enough to basically do what he wants with his books, he is publishing multiple books a year under his real name. As such, because the name Stephen King has more selling power than the name Richard Bachman, publishers want you to know that, although the book was originally published under the penname Richard Bachman, you are actually reading a Stephen King. That's why they phrase it as "Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman". It is really Stephen King writing it, but it was originally published under the penname Richard Bachman.

Hi everyone :) I've only recently started reading horror and thrillers, and of course I couldn't do so without trying some Stephen King. I've read The Mist, and Carrie so far, and my TBR includes The Dark Tower, The Institute Dr. Sleep and Mr. Mercedes. Can't wait to continue to explore his work!
Hi- Emilie here from Utah, USA. I’ve been a fan of horror since I was a kid- reading R.L. Stein and such. I’ll admit it took me till about a year ago to start reading Stephen King novels even though I’ve loved the movie adaptations for a lot longer. The very first adaptation I remember is The Langoliers, and I remember being so fascinated by its story. It’s also the first story I ever read by King in his Four Past Midnight collection. I’m so glad I started because now I can’t stop reading him. Currently on Desperation- which I see happens to be your book of the month. I just finished Insomnia- but I’m going to start trying to read them by publication order after I finish Desperation.

I loved Langoliers too, it has stuck with me all my life as a particularly haunting story.

I'd go with that one. I've not read Different Seasons.

Hello everyone! I'm new to Stephen King books - I saw the original "It" movie as a kid, couldn't shower for days and after that always associated Stephen King with horror. It wasn't until recently that someone convinced me he was a really good writer and I should give his stuff a shot. I'm totally mesmerized. His writing is so sharp and his stories so creative. I finished Carrie quickly, read his On Writing memoir and am now in the middle of 11.22.63. Have been engrossed in all his books. Would love any recommendations on what to read next.
Hi all, I'm Simon from England. I got into King as a teenager and have been a fan ever since. I'm constantly evangelising him to people who think he's somehow low-brow and trashy horror. What I try to explain is that he can effortlessly write in a number of genres like he is the main authority on them (take his later thriller work for example), and also that his dialogue is always on point. There's a genuine humanity to his writing, and he's just quite simply one of the world's greatest story-tellers. Favourite stuff - The Dark Tower books and The Stand.
