Leslie Powell-Mccarty | 37 comments Hi! I'm Leslie and I've been reading Stephen King since the late 70's and I can't get enough!! I'm a little behind on a few his books but I have decided I won't let my job get in the way of my reading any longer. I've just recently finished The Institute, Duma Key, Doctor Sleep, and Joyland. Of course, I was not disappointed!!

Hannah Sandoval | 2 comments Hi, everyone. Happy to be here. I'm a professional ghostwriter and editor operating under my own business, PurpleInkPen. My YA fantasy novel, Arcamira, is coming out in March 2020 from Cosmic Egg Books. It’s a fantasy-paranormal crossover wherein classic high fantasy species like elves, fairies, and griffins face off paranormal monsters like vampires and werewolves. Some of my all-time favorite authors are Stephen King and Cassandra Clare, and a new favorite is Stuart Turton. If we’re talking poetry, I’m all about Poe. Some tidbits about me: I’m the mother of a wild toddler, I own the sassiest corgi known to man, I married my high school sweetheart, and I identify heavily with Hermione Granger.

Here are my top 10 Stephen King Favorites :) http://bit.ly/2W2wexh

Abby (abby_ep) | 10 comments I'm excited that I found this group! For several years I've been reading Stephen King's books in publication order. I am obsessed with book club types because I'm terribly indecisive. I'm also currently 6 months pregnant so my work load at the office has dwindled, my blog is not live yet, and I have so much downtime. I'm looking forward to spending more time with my Stephen King books.

C.E.C. (milanesa) | 30 comments I've been here for long as heck, but I think I've never introduced myself? Huh.
I'm Camila, from Chile. The first King I read was Dolores Claiborne, back when I was 12 or 13, so I've been reading his books for over 10 years now. I've read 25 of his books so far, and I have at least 6 more lined up for 2020. My favorites are IT, The Green Mile, Doctor Sleep, and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

Charles Cole | 1 comments Hello.
I'm Charles and I just found this group. I'm new to Stephen King, and have only read Carrie so far, which is awesome, I'm a fan of the book and all the adaptations. I'm planning to read other books as soon as I can, such as Firestarter and The Institute (which seem somewhat similar to Carrie), IT, The Shining and Doctor Sleep. In that order.

Shanda Writer | 1 comments Hello!
My name is Shanda and I'm excited to be a part of this group. I grew up on horror movies, and Stephen King was definitely on the top of the list. As a family, we watched Carry, Christine, Pet Semetary, and more. He's definitely one of a kind, and I'm so glad he is able to share his gift of writing scary movies with a purpose.

Welcome Thomas! I agree with you in regard to movies based on Stephen King books. The movies are never as good. You have to read King's work not accept a director or screenwriter's interpretation of the story.

message 3783: by Jenny (new)

Jenny a.k.a....Jenny from the block | 725 comments Leslie, I would agree to a certain extent and there are some that we're really good; such as IT chapters I and II. They really did a better job when compared to 1990 mini-series. The 1980 Salems Lot with David Soul stole my heart. So there is good and bad; that happens. I really feel that David brought out a heartfelt Ben. Now they are doing......The stand remake and so far I dig the actor playing Stu and of course, Flagg with Bill can't go wrong. Whoopie as Mother another good choice. So I'm looking forward to this. I'm not familiar with Odessa, so hopefully, she is good in connection with Stu.

That 70's version of Salem's Lot is a classic, the little boy vampire knocking at the window, wanting to be let in, gave a generation nightmares.

message 3798: by Jalayne (new)

Jalayne | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm Jalayne and live in the United States. I'm 21 years old but have been reading Stephen King books since high school. I've always been a huge fan of mystery, thriller, and horror books.
The first Stephen king book I read was Firestarter from my high school's library. I then quickly read Night Shift and Lisey's Story.
I have also read Duma Key, The Shining, Doctor Sleep, and two of the Dark Tower novels. I usually have to wait to read another of his books as they are typically long and sometimes take a lot out of me. My favorite one so-far is The Shining.
The next two Stephen King books that I'll read will be Insomnia and The Eyes of the Dragon. I hope to eventually read all of his books and watch the films. I'm going to watch The Shining very soon. I'm eager to hear what others have thought of the movies. I'm excited to be in a group that appreciates his books as much as I do.
