Bob Breen (captainbob) Hello!

So happy to have found this group - so many kindred spirits! I’ve read a lot of Stephen King’s work, but am most fond of The Dark Tower series and the Stand. I just finished Pet Sematary and it spooked me. Maybe it’s because I’m a Dad, but sheesh, that’s a dark book. Looking forward to learning from you all!

Bob

I have read many books of his but am still not half way through the catalog yet. Under the Dome and Needfull Things aqd thd next two books in my King queue. My new job is killing my free time to read so hopefully I will get to then soon.

Hey Miketstl, welcome. Have you tried audiobooks during the commute? I have an audiobook going in my car and I have another that I read at night. It keeps me going, also great for exercise. I jog a lot longer when I have something to listen to.

Mike (miketstl) | 14 comments Thank you Nick and Erin. No, I have never tried audio books. I am currently in another part of the state and hope to relocatd back to STL in the next two months so I am hoping my job there will afford me some more time for reading. At the rate I am reading now the twenty I have listed as my goal is a stretch and that is less than a quarter of what I read last year.

I should be in bed now but I decided to knock out a few extra chapters to try to keep on track.

The audiobook of Under The Dame is great so is 11/22/63 and of course, Christine.

Anna (magicbananas) | 4 comments Hi, I'm here, finally. I've been trying to find more groups to join because groups on FB are better joined for sharing photos, and not so much for discussion (IMO). So sorry to everyone about your old thread. That's really sad. What cheers me up usually is reading a novel by an author that has a strong voice- like Stephen King. I feel like I'm shooting the breeze with a friend and we're talking about our life's horrors. My name is Anna I'm an artist and preschool helper from NYC.

Marc *Dark Reader with a Thousand Young! Iä!* (marcthedarc) | 17 comments 'sup, I made it here after reading King for the last 30+ years. Strangely, I have never read 'Salem's Lot, and a small handful of others (11/22/63, I know I know, From a Buick 8 which I have on my bedside table and will get it after a dozen other books, and Lisey's Story are the only ones that acutely come to mind), but I will catch up on those last in my next 40 years of reading, I am sure.

I was away from horror for a time, but jumped back in this past March thanks to a reading challenge, and realized how much I missed it.

message 3619: by Nick (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments If you're into Horror again, just go right to Salem's Lot. 11/22/63 is great... but still stay with the feeling.

Shelby Shack | 2 comments Hello!
My name is Shelby! I’m from Philly, currently working at a daycare and studying to be a biology teacher online. I just started getting into reading this year, as a New Years resolution. 1 book a month I told myself, and now I’m knocking them out the park hahaha I love psychological thrillers and horror the most, so this group is perfect!

Shelby, what's your favorite psychological thriller?

message 3627: by Nick (last edited May 14, 2019 05:09PM) (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Granillius, those three works are all high on my list with The Shining being # 2 or 3. I also agree about Christine. We're reading it now in a group read, and I continue to be amazed by King's understanding of teenage/parent conflicts and also his ability to portray brutal horror.

I haven't read as much King as I would have liked; but I'm pretty familiar with all his movies. I just read Different Season and Christine and I'm excited to continue!

Kike Bustamante (kibumo) | 2 comments Saludos desde México! I've been reading Stephen King since high school, my first book of SK was The Firestarter, then I bought Nightmares and Dreamscapes and I fell deeply in love with King's writing. It's been a very pleasant adventure so far and I'm looking into anything new or even those books that I've refused to read so far. I'm happy to say hello and been able to read about you all.

Shawn | 20 comments Hello all. I'm Shawn from Westminster, MA> Love Stephen King and can honestly say that I have read everything he has written, at least what is commercially available! Currently awaiting delivery of my autographed edition of "Sleeping Beauties" from Cemetery Dance - though I read the book already - and looking forward to "The Institute" later this year.

Hi everyone! My name is Kelsey and I live in Chicago. I've been reading Stephen King since I picked up IT in sixth grade (which explains a lot about my current mental state.) My favorites are The Shining and Under the Dome (christ did they ever drop the ball on the tv series for that one.) Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Mark Mitchell | 1 comments Hi, I'm Mark from the UK. I really like most of Stephen Kings books, recent favourites include The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and Joyland. Old favourites include Pet Cemetary and Needful Things. But don't get me started on IT though...

message 3645: by Cheree Scott (new)

Cheree Scott | 1 comments Good morning/evening everyone. I am a huge SK fan. I have read all of his books, comics and screenplays. At one time I had every book in the Dark Tower series autograghed by SK. Those were my pride and joy. Unfortunately, the ex-hubby burned them when we got divorced knowing it would hurt me immensely.
Anyways, I hope everyone has an awesome day/night.

Welcome Cheree! That’s horrible about your DT collection 😞. I feel your pain. My ex offed my entire Stephen King collection, 90% first editions, plus my 5000+ music collection. I’m just starting to replace things, though for you it’ll extra tough as SK doesn’t sign very often.

Matt,

Sorry to hear that happened to you. Some people need to be locked up for doing things like that.
