My name is Toni and I am from the South East of England. I am new to goodreads, been a member for a while but not an active one :)
I am a huge King fan but love most horror/suspense. Anything dark and weird is right up my street.
Any tips on finding my way around would be much appreciated haha.

I'm Vickie. I love the horror genre as well and am in other horror groups, but came across this one today. I work in a library that has a majority of Stephen King's work, so I'm excited to catch up on those I haven't read! I also enjoy his son's work too, Joe Hill. Looking forward to group discussions!

Hi Toni and welcome, I looked at your book list and see you have read some of Sai kings books, would recommend you read the Green Mile next. My other thought is 11-22-63.

Hey Toni - finding your way around? Go to community, pick the Stephen King fan group that's there and you'll see a list of discussions. scroll down and pick the ones that interest you, especially if there have been recent posts. We'll start a group read of the new King book next month.

Hi, yes The Green Miles is on the list, I am reading through in published order at the moment so Cycle of The Werewolf is the next on my list :)

Hi Liam, I am reading through all of his books at the min, as you say this will take some time haha!
I usually read a Stephen King then a non Stephen King because there are just so many other books I want to read!
I am new to goodreads to so just finding my way around really :)

Toni that is a good way to do it, that way you don't get burned out by one author. If you are into High Fantasy, try reading Robert Gordon Wheel of time series, but be prepared for an extended read as there are 14 books and Just or 12,000 pages. Not much of a challenge LOL.

oooh that sounds great! I love a good series of books! I will have to look them up :)

Hi Eva and welcome. So glad Mr. King could reach you. I'm rereading the Dark Tower too and finding that I rushed through it the first time. The second time is so much better.

From then till now I've read many King's novels Mr. Mrecedes (my first one) as that was the only one available in my city's library. I haven't had the chance of reading the dark tower series but I am looking forward to it. I think, the hodges trilogy + the outsider are Mr King's best work as they have the supernatural element turned down a little bit thus the storytelling seems more relaistic..also 'It' and Bazaar of Bad dreams are my all time favorites.
I've joined goodreads this Saturday, in my circle no one even knows Stephen King, I feel kinda left out..but now I think I might be able to share my views and excitement with YOU guys.

Hello everybody. My name is Aika and it very nice to meet you all. I am a big Stephen King fan. I am new to Goodreads and wanted to say hello! I look forward to meeting and making new friends.

Welcome M. You might try Duma Key, Bag of Bones, The Long Walk or Joy Land... lesser known but still great King... and not as long as say It or 11/22/63.

Joke! You may not have read that King story yet so I’ll suggest Just after Sunset which contains a variety of short stories and includes N. Then you can see what I’m talking about.
I second Nick’s choice of Joyland as well.

Thank you for those lovely suggestions! I'm going to add them all to my reading list. I'm definitely very interested in reading some of his lesser-known works, and maybe I can get back into the much longer ones for the new year!

Oh, what a wonderful suggestion! Short stories are always nice and I'm not familiar with any of his. Thank you!

My last name starts with N so hopefully that's not too close ;) Seriously, though, I will definitely check this out so I can get the reference! And I do really like short story collections.

M: Depending on how serious you are about your short story reading "N" has been called the most disturbing story King ever wrote. So I guess there's a challenge there... and a warning.

You're welcome!

Welcome, Kyle. So just what is book #1?

However, I do have the SK Novel, The Outsider, planned for later in the month!

Sound s great. I gave The Outsider 5 stars.

My favorite book this year was the Stand. I’ve been reading his books since high school when my dad finally let me take Cujo off his shelf and give it a try. My dad has always immediately bought every book he’s ever written and read it immediately. I have very limited childhood memories but most of them involve running my fingers over the bindings of his books and admiring them, hoping someday to find out what all the fuss was about.

Merry Christmas ka-tet! Long days and pleasant nights.

Great story Heather, sounds like great literary memories. I have the same problem with my wife, a nonreader, she wants to be interested but sometimes my story summaries just leave her cold, and when I play snippets of audiobooks she's either in or really out. Anyway, agree with you about the stand.
