Honest, it's not. :-)

But it definitely sounds like it will be a great read.

Erin | 82 comments Hello! I'm Erin. I live in Kentucky. This summer I've been reading a lot of Stephen King. So far this summer I've read The Shining, Night Shift, Everything's Eventual, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, Full Dark, No Stars, and I'm currently reading Skeleton Crew.

A friend and I buddy read Gerald's Game and we're about to buddy read Salem's Lot.

I'm also making my way through the movie adaptations.

mrbooks | 1469 comments Hello Erin are you going to read the Stand this year?

message 3362: by Erin (new)

Erin | 82 comments Its on my short list. My sister gave me all her King books and The Stand was one of them.

message 3363: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments Cool is it the original or the unabridged version.

message 3364: by Erin (new)

Erin | 82 comments I'm not sure but it has 1138 pages.

message 3365: by Erin (new)

Erin | 82 comments It says Complete and Uncut

message 3366: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments Unabridged version republished on it's 20th birthday so to speak. That is how he wanted it in the first place but they made him cut almost 300 pages, saying it wouldn't sell. That's accountants for you.

message 3367: by Erin (new)

Erin | 82 comments Mr. King does love to write looong books.

message 3368: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments Long only in respects of pages, but as far as stories go it s still to short for me. t being his longest book at 1300 pages was still action packed and gone to quick for me.

message 3369: by Erin (new)

Erin | 82 comments I bought Under The Dome but its so huge I'm terrified to read it.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Erin wrote: "I bought Under The Dome but its so huge I'm terrified to read it."

Hi Erin: For some reason Under the Dome went by pretty quickly when I read it. I thought it was a very easy read and eventually one I didn't want to end. That's when I appreciated the length. I liked the Stand but it was more complicated and so it was a little slower going... for me. I think you'll like Under The Dome.

Mary just getting started I envy you, first time with all his books is special. I wish I could do them all over again as a first time read alas that can't be as I have been reading his books for the last 40 odd years.

Hey, Autumn welcome. I see you're reading the Halloween Tree. I have quite a personal story related to the writing of that book. I wrote a blog about it, but it may have disappeared. I'll try to repost it. I knew Ray Bradbury when he was writing it, originally as a TV show called "The Pumpkin Tree" because he got angry when they never showed the great pumpkin in the Charlie Brown show, "It's a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." If I can post it I'll let you know.

Welcome Azahara, the whole group is reading King books in chronological order. We're finishing Firestarter this month, but some people are behind others are ahead. Some of us who have read them all several times will always chime in when someone posts a new idea on a given book. BTW, chronological order seems like a good way to go.

Hi Asahara, we veterans look to the newbies as you call yourself, for new ways to look at the works of Sai King. Many of us have read his works multiple times and are looking for someone else who is new to share thoughts and opinions with. Just because we have read them before doesn't mean we are experts LOL. We love to read his books that's the long and short of it. Welcome and may you enjoy your time here we look forward to your thoughts and opinions.

Tamara (tamaraturns) | 1 comments Hi everyone!

My name is Tamara and I am a 27 year old living in Canada who just discovered the wonderful world that goodreads is!

I have been a Stephen King fan since I was first able to read. My Mom had all the books (at that time) and wouldn't let me read them because they were "too scary" so I would sneak into her room at night and grab the books and read them secretly. Then once I read all her books, I graduated to hiding under the bed to watch the movies.

Have been a fan ever since and have my own growing collection
