My name is Sarah and I'm from Tennessee. I first read a King book, Doctor Sleep, back in 2013. Since then, Stephen King has become one of my favorite authors. So glad to have found this group!

Hi Sarah, and welcome to the thread, we are all crazy about Sai King, but I'm just crazy LOL.

David Hey new on here , names david how's every one doing ?

message 2911: by David (new)

David this looks like such a big site with so much to search , I have no idea where to start

message 2912: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I | 9 comments David wrote: "this looks like such a big site with so much to search , I have no idea where to start"

David, maybe start by rating some of your favorite books!

message 2913: by David (new)

David will do , just joined good reads so I've yet to figure out how to do that , although I just said how much I enjoyed reading Carrie group read thread , it took me half hour to realised that I had to active my good reads profile via email

message 2914: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments David Hi and welcome to goodreads and the Stephen King fan thread. There is a page in this thread that is for listing your favorite king books. If you are a dedicated King fan then you will probably have the same problem as the rest of the people on this page/thread. It is nearly impossible to pick just 10 books as your favorites but good luck an I hope you enjoy yourself we look forward to your input.

message 2915: by David (new)

David Hi mrbooks , sorry there’s no reply option on my iPad . I’m not sure I’ve read 10 king books yet i guess it doesn’t help that I’m half way through a second re read of one of his books but il give it a search and list my top favourites so far so far you seem like a friendly bunch of chaps

message 2916: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments Oh we are friendly, occasionally we will bite, but never hard lol. we love lively discussions about books it does not matter that we agree or dis agree about a book we love talking about them. chances are you will find one or two who agree and one or two who dis agree with you but it is all friendly.

message 2917: by David (new)

David I think it’s great to get to discuss the fantastic books we all read I know people who go on and on about the book that they are reading and as soon as I bring up the book I’ve reading into the discussion there’s this sudden awkward silence

message 2918: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments I hear you I have experienced the same thing. I will talk about any book there is even if I haven't read it yet or ever. I'm just crazy that way lol.

message 2919: by David (new)

David What I find pretty amazing is that when ever I find a Stephen king book that I haven’t got yet king magically releases a new one I think him and James Patterson team up to do that the same thing happened when I get my hands on another Alex cross book

message 2920: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments If that were the case, I would be about 100 years behind on reading his books. I have been reading Sai King since 1978, and was keeping up with his new releases for a while. But in the last few years I have fell behind. That is more my age then anything else...

message 2921: by David (new)

David I think read my first king book about 10 years ago , happens to be reading it now -IT although I like the new it movie I’ve seen it 7 times , I still love the series more there just see,es to be loads more memorable stuff from the book so far I’m 600 or pages in the font size of my kindle app has added 200 pages to the book lol,so much from the book has been changed in the movie in the book so far the only niebolt street encounter I’ve seen is under the house with the lever and bill and Ritchie going back there with the gun , and that seemed so much xxxxed up in the book what the leper kept offering Eddie !

message 2922: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments Yes poor Eddie, the Leper offered more then he ever wanted to hear. Niebolt St, is a definite no go as far as it goes, you are in it's back yard and that is not a place you want to be. Well not if you are smart that is LOL.

message 2923: by David (new)

David Lol so very true !

message 2924: by Sam (new)

Sam Norris | 3 comments Hello I'm Sam, I've recently joined Goodreads and I've been a huge Stephen King fan for many years now, my favourites are IT, The Shining, The Dead Zone and 11/22/63, however I'm currently reading The Stand and I'm pretty sure that will top my list once I've finished it as it's absolutely epic!

Thanks

message 2925: by David (new)

David welcome every one mostly from what ive read so far on here every body seems really nice im also new on here i come on here to check out what people think on the books so far but its hard to put down the book om reading , hope you enjoy the group !

message 2926: by Jenny (new)

Jenny a.k.a....Jenny from the block | 725 comments Hi Sam
Which version of the Stand are you reading?
I also enjoyed the Shining, 11-32-63 and IT.... you should try Salem’s Lot once you complete the Stand.
The other thing I like to do is see the S.K. Novel translation onto the screen... which I really enjoyed the adaptation of the 1980 version of the Shining by Kubrick as the director which out surpasses the remake because that version {Steven Weber} did not have the scare factor... your thoughts...

message 2927: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments LOL Kenneth I was going to recommend Fire Starter or the Green Mile. I know my taste in King books differs from most but I do like both those books. as well as the other 54 books he wrote that is.

message 2928: by Jenny (new)

Jenny a.k.a....Jenny from the block | 725 comments Yes Mr Brooks Firestarter is a good one also... the only issue I had was that I had watched the movie first and although a good adaptation I kept seeing the actors when I was reading and for some reason George C Scott drove me nuts....

message 2929: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 163 comments I love Firestarter!

mrbooks | 1469 comments I hear you and the guy who played Rainbird wasn't very believable either. OK an edit is needed here, just checked and Scott played Rainbird LOL.

message 2931: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments I just love the way they show flaming balls of rock shooting out of Charlie's head in the scene at the farm.

message 2933: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3 comments Hello. I’m Jess. I read about 36 books this year in no particular order. 36 books is a huge deal for me as I am a slow reader.
For the new year, I plan to read Stephen King books. My uncle passed away and left all his Stephen King books to me. When I finish a book, I plan to pass it on to a friend or coworker or leave it in the free library.
I’m most excited to start with The Shining and Doctor Sleep. Right now I’m finishing up The Talisman. Nice t meet you.

Wow, I would be ecstatic to receive all those King books! And that's a great idea to leave them for someone else to read once you're done!

Hi Jess and welcome to all things King. I hope you enjoy your visits here and most importantly his books. The speed you read at isn't important, what you get from a book is what matters, like you I am a slow reader but I am a constant reader. So relax and enjoy yourself you are among friends.

Jill | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Jill and I live in New Jersey. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have a book to read. I have been on Goodreads for about 4 years but active over the past 2 years. I started reading King in 6th grade when I picked up Salem’s Lot, I never looked back. I still shudder when walking past a cemetery, sewer grate, or I see an ice cream truck. Thanks for adding me to the group!
