Hi, I am Alex.I am a big Stephen King fan and absolutely love hearing what others have to say about my favourite author, If I agree or not, it's great to talk about what we love.
Especially seeing as every king fan I know has a completely different top 10 to the next one.I have seen people have a top 10 favourites filled with 10 books that are the 10 least favourites for someone else.
And that's because the quality is always there and the only thing that divides us is our preferences.
I like everything from the epics like IT(My Favourite) to the not as much loved by others but adored by me, Gerald's Game and the short stories and novellas aswell, The Mist is one of my favourite stories I've ever read.
The King has never disappointed me apart from a few opinions based on some adaptations maybe(I really like Kubrick and The Shining movie).
I look forward to sharing some thoughts on Stephen King and all his works with other constant readers.

Welcome Alex. I'm a big fan of Gerald's Game too... also agree with you on the Kuibrik movie. It will be good to get your input on our ongoing discussion.

Hi all, I am from East Anglia in the UK. I read a wide variety of genres and I have enjoyed a few King books. I thought this might be a good place to get some other King book recs and have a nice chat.

Oh lets see, How many do you want? There is the Green Mile the Stand, It One that does it for me is in the Bachmann book, it's The Long Walk.

The Movie followed the book nearly to the letter. Also try Rita Heyward and the Shawshank redemption another good story.
I like movies to be faithful to the book. I love Shawshank but again I watched the movie. I prefer to read a book first and then watch film....I am coming to the SK party a little late!!
Tracy my dear, I hope you don't mind that saying but you are never to late for the SK party. We are going to be doing a group read that is in chronological order starting with Carrie in Dec. Even though you saw the movies before you read the books, it is still good to read the books. SK words and style of writing are never to be missed. That is my humble opinion.

Also, the Long Walk is a great book. The Shawshank Redemption is in a collection called Different Season, which also includes the story that formed the basis of the movie, Stand By Me. If you want to see the best example of a story that follows the book to the letter, try Shawshank.

About the man, the King, I've got 2 things to tell you guys & one to ask.
1. I read many books via my KU subscription & some authors are fabulous & make a full series (plural) available on KU. ----BUT (yes, there's always a big but coming up).... I have a healthy addiction to the printed page. And be it so humble, my book collection is one of the few material possessions that I truly care deeply for. Otherwise, most things are just "stuff".
My point, like many people, I am re-reading 'IT'. It's like a brand new adventure since over a decade has passed since my first time through 'IT'.
2. I also love horror flicks & I even enjoy the slasher classics such as Friday the 13th, Night of the Living Dead, Evil Dead, etc......
I do like most of King's regular AND made for TV movies....such as-
The Dark Half
SILVER Bullet
Maximum Overdrive
Children of the Corn
The Mist
Dreamcatcher
The Stand
IT
……..........and the list goes on & on!
My QUESTION for everyone is - What's your favorite King movie?????
I'm about to watch a freaky movie that King quoted as being "Deeply disturbing & highly recommended"...in case your wondering, I'm about to check out The Babadook.

Hi Melia, and welcome to the SK fan pages, we are all interested in discussing any and all of his book with anyone who is interested. I envy you, being a first time reader of his books.
There is only one really fantastic movie, a lot of good ones and even some bad ones that I like but my favorite has to be the Green Mile.
The Green Mile is a fantastic movie...in all aspects, it's a beautiful movie to watch.I have an odd weakness for the original 'IT' & Silver Bullet & of course The Shining! Parts of that movie are seared into my brain forever! It's such an important novel, being his 3rd & catapulting him into the horror genre where-lucky for us-he became "the King".
I do very much enjoy his more drama/non-gruesome books as well...I'm simply a horror fanatic. Bring on the ghouls, vampires, witches, werewolves, & all manner of boogeymen!!!!
Oh don't get me wrong I like almost everything they did with his books, into making them into movies, it just the Green Mile was taken almost verbatim from the book to the movie, which shows if you have a good director and actors and connect with an outstanding book you have a movie that can't be beaten.
One has to take what one is given. If they did that with the book I think you are thinking about, it would be a 3 or 4 part movie. I am guessing you are talking about It? or is it the Dark tower movie? my money is on It though, LOL.

I didn't know they made a movie or is it a mini series of 11-22-63.
I agree, the James Franco 11/22/63 mini-series was great (probably available on DVD now) They stayed true to the story, but even there they had to cut some things to fit it into the timeframe.

I have to admit, I like his stories better the older I get. I think it's because there is so much in them, and so much character development, that you understand more as you get older. I liked his books as a teenager, but I certainly didn't understand them like I do now.
Wow thanks Tracy, you are not old. I have fond the books change each time I re-read them I don't know if that is down to age or life experience. I guess you could say one is the same as the other.

My students tell me all the time that I'm old, or ancient (however, they are elementary students). It's nice to be reminded that I'm not really. Just to the 7 year olds.
I don't know if anyone has noticed or not, but we are over the 10,000 mark now. Pretty darn good SK fans! :)

Hi everyone! My name is Nick. I have been a fan of Sai King for a few years now, ever since I picked up The Stand, which is now one of my all-time favorite books! I have loved everything I've read by King so far and hope to eventually read all his work. I am currently making my way through The Dark Tower series for the first time and loving it! None of my friends really read King much, so I'm hoping joining this group will give me people to talk to about his work!

Hello everyone ! I am Michele from Finland. I just recently started this account here on good reads ! So excited to be a part of the community ! I absolutely loved IT ! And I will soon be reading The Shining and Doctor sleep ( as a part of a youtube halloween 24 hour read-a-thon !!
