E. | 242 comments Hello newcomers! This is a great group all around. We all love to talk about the books and so much more. Check out all the threads and by all means, jump right in.
We are doing a group read of Pet Sematary on/around Halloween so take part in that, whether you've already read it or not, it will be fun.

11/22/63 or Lisey's Story = cats and dogs. Two different animals, both good. I read both through audiobook and I feel it enhanced both books. (However, 11/22 was just more everything)

I too had read all of King's older works, then took a 20 year break. It's been like Christmas catching up on everything I missed.

Tom | 78 comments I listened to Lisey's Story on a trip from Philadelphia. It was absorbing. Hated to stop for gas!

George Huxley | 7 comments Hello, my name is George. I love Stephen King's writing and I'd have to say my favorite would be The Shining. Great book, so much truth and enthusiasm. I live in Colorado which means its obligatory that I like either The Shining or The Stand or else people look at you weird.

Hey Lloyd,welcome... I pretty much agree. Though maybe I wouldn't have used the word "great."

Diana Radu | 18 comments Hello fellow Constant Readers! I'm Diana and I'm from Romania... I became hooked on Stephen King since I first read one of his books (it was "Shining" and I was about 13... this was back in 1993). I have to admit that I haven't yet read all SK's books and this is because in my country there are a lot of his books that have never been translated (not only recent ones, but also older ones like Firestarter or Cujo). Recently I decided not to wait for translations anymore and order the ones I was missing online from abroad... now I have my collection almost complete!

Hey Bill... what kind of King are you looking for. We can give some recommendations. The scarier the better, just a good story, epic with a little bit of everything... or what?

message 1627: by Shawn (new)

Shawn P | 6 comments Hello! I'm Shawn! My husband introduced me to Stephen King about 2 years ago and I liststened to 11/22/63 on audio book and loved it!! Thus the obsession began and I read The Stand next.....my husband and I both began collecting as many SK books we could find and started plowing through them. My favorites so far seem to be a tie between Salem's Lot and Duma Key. I was having a hard time wanting to read any other author and then read Bag of Bones....urgh. Don't really know how to explain what I felt about this reading experience except very frustrated. It seems from others comments that this is a book better enjoyed the second time. It just really fell short for me and I was so disappointed that I felt maybe I needed a break from the King for a bit. I've been enjoying some of my other favorite authors: Jonathan Maberry, Peter Clines, Chelsea Cain on this break, it's been about a month now.I just felt I had a bad taste in my mouth from that book. So now I come across this very cool club and browse around and read comments and discussions and it has made me want to finally dive back in and start reading The King again. I have The Cell in my hand as we speak. So thank you all for helping me remember what I have come to love about reading Stephen King. I'll let you know how the Cell goes!!

Corky Cobon | 18 comments Hi all, My name is Corky. Been reading THE MAN since the early 80's when I saw THE SHINING in the theater and wanted to read the book. Been hooked ever since. Have never been able to finish PET SEMETARY as it scares the bejeebus out of me every time. Remember being in in-school suspension and reading NIGHT SHIFT. Have not read anything new from THE MAN in quite a few years but plan on doing a massive read-a-thon in the new year to get caught up.

Hi everyone! I'm Terianniaq, it's 2003, and dangerous to give personal information out to Strangers On The Internet ;) I'm pretty new to GoodReads and have only just discovered the "groups" feature, but naturally this was the first I joined!

I'm a relatively recent fan of The King, having only started reading his works at fifteen. I can't say I've loved everything I've read, but I've thoroughly enjoyed most of the books I can remember and am constantly pestering my local library to order something new. :)

My favourites of his are the more suspenseful books that don't really involve much "horror" in the traditional sense (ghosties and the like) - Gerald's Game is probably the best I've read, and I still sometimes get a little worried that something or someone is watching me sleep! I also enjoyed reading Carrie, my heart ached for that poor girl.

I'd really like to read The Stand, The Dark Tower series, and The Long Walk. But I've just started Duma Key and have It waiting in the wings, so I'm sure I have enough to last me for a while!

Well, happy reading everyone, and it's nice to meet you all. :)

Hey Terianniaq... WELCOME! I'm with you on Gerald's Game. Thought it was really spellbinding. I really like all your choices so far in fact. Both Duma Key and IT are two of King's best.

Michelle Hi peeps! I'm Michelle, another big fan of the King. My fav is Pet Sematary, most definitely the scariest book I have ever read. This year I've read The Stand (huge uncut version), 'Salem's Lot, Mr Mercedes, Carrie and Revival. My collection is growing steadily, I currently have 28. The next one I tackle will probably be It, though I'm planning on buying Bazaar of Bad Dreams in the next week or so. I'm also a big fan of Joe Hill. I hope it's okay to mention him.

Suni (nikassoh) Hello, everyone! I'm Nicky, originally from New York but I've been in Korea for 3 years now. There is no shortage of King novels here - in English at least, not too sure how popular his novels are in Korean.

Anyhow, I've been a fan of Stephen King since I was about two or three years old. My Mother let me watch IT with her and even though it scared the piss out of me I was hooked.

Glad to meet you all!

Kristina Masset (kristinalynn11) Hi my name is Kristina, I'm a huge kings fan, have been since I was young when I noticed it was all my mom read! I'm currently reading Storm of the Century! I recently have been through some problems, and my family moved and I lost a bunch of books, including SK books and I'm pretty heartbroken about it. But I'm reading what I do have. I didn't always have time to read but now I'm finally catching up! I'd love for anyone to tell me what to read next, or tell me what they thought of Storm Of The Century!? And I'm open to friend requests as well!
Happy reading!!
