Marisa (marisamira) | 24 comments I'm getting it on Nov 15th here in TX. I waited in line 3.5 hrs to get a ticket to his book signing. So I'm suuuuper super super excited

message 1002: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments I can't tell if you're excited or not, Marisa. It must be getting lost in translation or something. ;)

3.5 hours for a ticket!! Damn! And I thought I was a King fan!!

I don't know how new it is, but they can only sign so many and having tickets keeps 10,000 people from waiting when realistically only 1,000 will actually get signatures.

Tom | 78 comments Thats true. just wondering cuz Anne and Christopher Rice are coming and its like 15.00. But maybe they are speaking too. Never mind :-)

Rachel Sanders | 1 comments Hi I'm Rachel Ilove all kinds of books but especially horror, suspense, thriller, crime, science and scifi novels. By far my favourite author is Stephen King who i have loved since I very first read his works, my first introduction was with Carrie and since then i have read many of his books, my favourite so far being Pet Sematary, I'm hoping one day ill have read all of his novels :) What i most love about his writing is that no matter what the setting is he can literally take a book anywhere and his work is almost never predictable :D

Hey Rachel, welcome and thanks for making a point that not many of us have made, Another reason King is great is because his work isn't predictable. You never know how things are going to end and even when it's inevitable the path he takes to get there is nothing you would have ever expected.

Alfredo Ortiz (alfortiz) | 1 comments Hello, I'm new here, I recently picked up the habit of reading Stephen King novels. I'm looking on learning more about The King, any suggestions and books-to read are gladly welcomed. Thanks.

message 1012: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello everyone, I'm Ian from England, and I've been reading Stephen KIng since I was about 15. My favourites are The Stand, Pet Semetary & 11/22/63.

Welcome Ian. Quite a diverse set of likes.

message 1014: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Hensel | 2 comments Hi. I am obviously a King reader lol. I have always wanted to find a King only book club and....guess I finally have lol. My favorite book ever is The Stand. Right now I just began the task of reading every King novel in order of publication date starting with Carrie. I have read many King novels and prefer his earlier work, it will be fun to watch his writing develope over the years. Nice to be here.

message 1015: by Jo (new)

Jo Phillipson | 41 comments Welcome Samantha. I agree with you. I definitely think his earlier writing is much better. My first King experience was 'It'. I think it is still my favourite and I have gone back to it several times!
Hope you enjoy the group.

message 1016: by Anita (new)

Anita Smith | 3 comments Good morning all, I am new to this particular group. I love stephen kings writing. Ever since I was 9 and given a moth eaten copy of Cujo. Still remains one of my favs and read it every boxing day since. There are so many diferent characters within kings books. I dare anyone not to read at last one of kings books and not enjoy. Thanks for creating such a great group

message 1017: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Hey Samantha! Welcome to the club.

Every King book in order of publication! Do you realize how many books he's written? You have a serious task in front of you, but it should be a hell of a fun ride!

message 1018: by Susan (new)

Susan (edgarsden) | 88 comments I do exactly the same thing. I started in February and I'm currently on the works from 1987 :P. Still 27 years to go ;).
Its a great way to follow how his writing style developed.

Hey Dominic, good ideas; never thought of it that way, but it does make sense.

message 1020: by E. (new)

E. | 242 comments Hello Dominic.
I was an avid King reader in the 70's 80's, but in the 90's kind of fell away, feeling his writing had changed when he became sober. It just didn't have that "punch".
As I'm making up for lost time, reading much of what I've missed out on since that time, I've noticed what you did. The characters can be more... altruistic...?...to a degree, since his accident.
I'm lamenting not keeping up all those years, but I'm having fun catching up

I'm also a Koontz fan, my favorite being Intensity. Many Koontz books tangle up in my mind because the formulas are so similar. But Intensity will always stand out.

Right now I'm re-reading Needful Things and enjoying the heck out of it!

message 1021: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 76 comments I was in love with Koontz's watchers and lightening , so I read almost everything he writes. Well I haven't find something so adorable like those two, but I still enjoy reading his books even those that are getting bad critics .

message 1022: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Hello everyone! I was an avid reader & fan of SK since I was a teen. The Stand is probably my favorite. I loved The Gunslinger series & his older works too. I burnt out a bit then was disappointed in Doctor Sleep. I've been wanting to read SK again. I'm looking forward to joining the group reads & the discussions.

message 1023: by Peggy (last edited Nov 09, 2014 05:31AM) (new)

Peggy Hello SK fans! I have always been an avid reader but shied away from anything I thought might be in the "horror" genre. Earlier this year I read the SK non fiction book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craftwhich then compelled me to pick up Joylandfrom a discount table at Barnes & Noble. I can't believe I missed out all these years on his writing! Since the summer I have read several of his books and one free digital essay on amazon entitled Guns. Right now I am reading The Long Walk which I love but find very dark (I believe made worse by the fact I have two sons). I look forward to being a part of this reading group!

message 1024: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Hey Peggy! The Long Walk is very dark. I loved it and I hope you do too.

Juanra (fallenmachine66) | 2 comments Morning, Constant Readers! I'm a new fan from this awesome group dedicated to the best fiction, horror, thriller author ever. Currently reading The Dead Zone, and I'm looking forward to purchasing Revival ASAP!

message 1026: by Raavyn (new)

Raavyn (Raavyn_Cloud) | 1 comments Hello,

As many of S.K.'s fans I first picked up one of his books in 5th grade and have been a huge fan ever since.

I must admit that even through all this time I still have not read ALL of his books (there are just so many others to read!), but do maintain a library of almost everything he has written. I actually find this to be a positive thing however, since I can still, for a short time left however, still go and pick out one of his books and read it for the first time.

Anywho, he is still by far my favorite author to read and I immensely enjoy listening to his interviews and panels. I love to talk and see what other S.K. fans think and say about his stories and glad I found this group.

So that is my intro! My copy of Revival just showed up in the mail and was waiting for me when I arrived home from work. I can't wait to dive in,

Raavyn

message 1027: by Nick (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Welcome, Raavyn and Juan... I think we're going to have a lot to talk about in the next few weeks.

message 1028: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Mornin' Folks! I want all of you, that have started reading Revival, to know that I hate you. I didn't think quick enough to request Revival at my library on time. I found out that I'm number 19 in line. I have a gun and I'm willing to use it if one of you don't send me your copy as soon as possible!

Why do I have a feeling that one of you are going to take me serious and have me removed from the site? No really, I do own guns.... ;)

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the new book. When you're finished, send it to me! Or else!! /ha!

Y'all have a wonderful day, now!

message 1029: by [deleted user] (new)

This is really interesting. Thanks for posting! I haven't read his books in any particular order but definitely have come across several Easter Eggs that allude mostly to The Shining and It. Can't wait for Revival tomorrow!

3.5 hours for a ticket!! Damn! And I thought I was a King fan!!"

haha! I have to wait in line for another 3 to 4 some odd hours tomorrow to get the book signed. That was just for the ticket! I grew up on The Shining, It, and Pet Semetary and loved all of the film adaptations before I started reading his books as a teen. But yes, I get a little over zealous and excited. At least my goodreads friends can understand. :)

message 1037: by Marisa (new)

Marisa (marisamira) | 24 comments Tom wrote: "Is this a new thing having to get tickets for book signings?"

Hi Tom! I'm not sure. I think just because he has such a large fan base it helped to diffuse the crowd. I've only been to one other book signing which was Chuck Palahniuk. This was several years ago and tickets weren't required. I've never stood in line for anything before for hours on end so I didn't really know what to expect. I don't think that's standard for every author though and it may also be contingent on the book store's policy and procedure?

message 1038: by Glen (new)

Glen | 229 comments Craig thanks for posting this DT list! I had a copy of it then lost it God knows where. I have plans to read the series in that order since I have already finished the series without the sequence shown above. I have read a good lot I the other books too but, I'm curious to try them in the order suggested.

message 1039: by Michaela (new)

Michaela | 4 comments Hi I'm Michaela and I fell in love with Stephen king's work when I was about fourteen though I do admit it was due to the fact I had first seen the movie "IT" however that inspired me to give his books a look, and the first book I read was The Green Mile and I've been hooked ever since!

I liked insomnia too, and I don't know why either. A little Greek Mythology mixed in with long late nights, I guess. Check out the great debate we have going on the ending of The dark tower series. Lots of diverse opinions.
