Luciana Damasceno (lucydamasceno) | 77 comments Welcome Jackie! Finders Keepers, the second book is supposed to be release in first half of 2015 - what is still a vague information..

message 902: by The Dark (new)

The Dark Knight (TheArkhamKnight) Hi I love Stephen King novels, the first novel I had ever read by this brilliant man was "The Shining" I would recommend it to every constant reader out there. I am getting ready to read "IT"

message 903: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (140jmr) Welcome Matt - You are going to love IT. One of his best by far.

Anna (scholarlyscorpio) Hi I am Anna. I am new to the Goodreads scene so bear with me. I have been a Stephen King fan since I was 13. His books made me the reader I am today. I am an obsessed fan and I finally found people to talk to my obsession about. So I am glad to have joined this wonderful community!

You're in good company! Welcome.

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments What's happening, Folks! Looks like I found the place for me.

I've only been reading King for a few years now. I ride public transit regularly and needed something to do with my time. My g/f owns tons and tons of books that she never reads so I decided to snoop around and see if she had anything worth reading.

I noticed she had probably a dozen or so books written by Stephen King. I asked her for a recommendation, and she told me I should start with The Long Walk by Richard Bachman. I asked about King, you dufus! All she did was smile and handed me the book and said trust me.

That was one of the best days of my life.

Since then I've added at least a dozen books to the collection. ;)

message 908: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments And... I want to say that I envy Matt. The worst part about having already read "It" is that I can never read it for the first time again.

I do like to re-read books from time to time, when I'm not sure what to pick up next, but it's never the same as the first time!

message 911: by Megami (new)

Megami Hello everyone! I'm so glad to meet you all!

I have been visiting this site for years now, always wanting to read the reviews people leave for books I have read or want to read. I just never really got around to making an account until two days ago.

My favorite author has to be Stephen King, simply because the book Desperation left a big impression on me when I was eleven lol. I've been hooked on his work ever since. Hope to see you guys around!

message 912: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments What's hattenin' Megami!

Nice seeing another new face around here. How's Dr. Sleep going so far?

message 913: by Chad (new)

Chad Lorion (goodreadscomcmichaellorion) Hello, everyone. Found this group today. First King novel I read was The Stand when it came out in paperback (one of the best book covers, ever!) back in the early 80s when i was in junior high school (before there was such a thing as middle school--remember those days?). Looking forward to some great discussions with fellow Constant Readers.

message 914: by E. (new)

E. | 242 comments Hello Megami and C.
When I read The Stand (a hundred years ago) I remember feeling like I had a special, magical, important manuscript in my hands.
lol.
King was my first love, I've read many since then, but I've returned, with a lot of catching up to do.

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments Welcome all newcomers! Come for the conversation, stay for the snacks....ha!

message 916: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Oooooh!! Y'all have snacks?

message 917: by Jeff (new)

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments I always keep some little Debbie donuts in my desk at my office if that helps, lol

message 918: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Sounds good to me. Don't get jealous but I happen to be eating one of the best burritos I've ever tasted.

Want a bite? I have a half that I haven't touched yet.

Jeez! 2 o' clock and I'm just now eating lunch. What happened to the day.

message 919: by Jeff (new)

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments I guess....I am not a breakfast guy. Hence the donuts stashed at work and an early lunch daily.

message 920: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments I'm not big on breakfast either. Early in the morning is the only decent time to read in my house so I take advantage as much as I can.

message 921: by Danielle (last edited Oct 14, 2014 12:50PM) (new)

Danielle | 57 comments I'm new in this group. Love Stephen King, not big on breakfast either. However it isn't odd to find me making waffles as an afternoon snack.

message 922: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Hey Danielle!

Now don't get me wrong. I loves me some brinner (breakfast for dinner). It's one of my favorite meals. I just don't have time for it in the morning.

Ummm.... Anyone wanna talk about a book?

message 923: by Tom (new)

Tom | 78 comments MMM. I am eating chocolate covered pretzels right now. I love the holidays

message 924: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments You associate chocolate covered pretzels with the holidays? I guess Halloween is right around the corner...

message 925: by Tom (new)

Tom | 78 comments My holidays start the middle of October and end the Sunday after New Years! The pretzels have little orange swirls on the so they are definatley halloweeny

message 926: by Tom (new)

Tom | 78 comments I should make clear that by 'holiday' i mean I can eat anything I want

message 927: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Ha! I think I'll use that line later on..

message 928: by Jeff (new)

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments So.... yeah just finished Underworld and Stone Junction this week, with about 300 pages to go in IT. There...we talked books, lol

message 929: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Ha! I had a feeling some reply like that would come.

How ya liking IT so far?

message 930: by Jeff (new)

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments Its good, but I must say it hasn't MOVED me the way The Stand or 11/22/63 did. Not to say I haven't enjoyed IT, just won't be going into my favorite pile. Glad I reading it, though.

message 931: by Tom (new)

Tom | 78 comments I am planning on reading Full Dark, No Stars this month since there are 2 movies coming out

message 932: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 57 comments I finished IT a week or so ago and I think it was creepy even for King but I mostly liked it.

message 933: by Nathan (last edited Oct 14, 2014 01:36PM) (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Ooops! This may be a spoiler.. Sorry if anyone read it first.

11/22/63 did it for me. I read it before the Stand and IT and neither did what that book did for me. Damn I'm bad with names.... The lead character may not have been able to cry but a few scenes in that book sure made me cry like a damn fool. You should have seen how people were looking at me on the bus.

E., when I read The Stand in junior high, I carried it with me every school day, reading it whenever I had free time. It did feel like something magical, like I was reading something none of my friends could relate to, like only I understood what was going on between the pages. It was a great time, that school year.

message 935: by Jeff (new)

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments C
I totally agree. I read it when I was young as well the same summer the mini series came out. I was 14. I felt like I was part of something special.

I cried like a baby at the end of It.

message 937: by Tamra (new)

Tamra Nye (tamramae) | 1 comments Hi I'm Tamra. I have started reading The Dark Tower series and am on Wolves of the Calla. I really love the series and all works of Stephen King. Would love to meet him someday and get an autograph!

message 938: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments C.

You cried at the end of IT? It's been a while since I read it (pun intended), but I don't remember crying. Now, if there was dancing I could understand. Am I forgetting something?

message 939: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Wuz hattenin', Tamz!

Loved the Dark Towers. You're getting into the thick of things now. I wish I could read it for the first time again.

message 940: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments I always envy everyone when they say they are reading one of his for the first time.

One of my biggest thrills is reading his newly published books knowing there will only be one "first time".

message 941: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments I think I love you Kandice. I've always felt the same way. Most people look at me like whaaaaaaaaaaaaa why be jealous? 'Cause I love that feeling. That's why.

message 942: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments I have actually been known to take a vacation day from work so I can read one of his new books non-stop the first day. I usually fly through and then reread a few days later at a more sane pace. It really is a bit like an addiction. Thank God it's legal...;)

message 943: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Bwahahahaaaaaaaa!!

I haven't taken off of work to read him. You got me there.

I do ride public transit so I have roughly three hours everyday to kill reading. Like you said, "Thank God it's legal...;)"

Nathan, yeah, tears streaming down my face. Here's why:

(view spoiler).

message 945: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Well damn, man. You just made me cry. I did forget the very end.

Thanks for making my coworker ask me if I was ok...

message 946: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments Awwwww...sappy men. :) The end makes me sad for the exact same reason and the older I am when I read it the sadder that seems. I think because there are so many more precious memories to lose.

message 947: by Chad (new)

Chad Lorion (goodreadscomcmichaellorion) Sorry, Nathan.

Yeah, Kandice, you summed it up perfectly--so many more precious memories to lose.

message 948: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments I am not sappy! I'm just emotional... ;p

I better stop drinking now. I'm not even sure what I did last night.

message 950: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Jodry (theycallmewitness) | 79 comments Bad thing is it was only noon when I wrote it. /tipsy

No, I meant drinking at night. Ladies night tried to kill me last night. Those darned women love emotional men. ;)
