Oscar Aparicio pedrosa | 4 comments I'm Oscar from Spain. In recents years I have started to read in English, and if it's possible, listening the audiobook while reading the book. My first SK novel's were in the finals 80's in my teens, and back then I readed it in Spanish. Ten years ago i started to read all SK books in English.

Michael Davis Man, I wish I knew Spanish. I spent years in school leaning French but that's been 20 yrs ago and I've probably forgotten everything I knew. I wonder if it's too late to learn.

ME TOO! I got the Pimsler spanish lessons and went through them before our last trip down to Mexico. And, even though one of the local cabbies complimented me on my pronunciation, I couldn't keep up with the fast paced lingo of the locals. Still, I thought it was worth the effort, and I'll probably go through the course again before my next visit.

message 759: by Diego (new)

Diego López | 5 comments Its never too late to learn! You should definitely make the effort, it will be rewarding :p
Besides, spanish is not that hard to learn!

message 760: by Oscar (new)

Oscar Aparicio pedrosa | 4 comments As a matter of fact is one of easier languages to learn.

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments My name is Jeff, just joined GR and this group. Though I do often read more "literary" authors, I will always enjoy King's work. His prose is often beautiful, and his characters are always memorable. Favorite King book has to be the Stand, followed by 11/22/63.

Bespectacledreader | 5 comments Hi! I'm Shin. I was in grade school when I read Pet Sematary and Green Mile. I remember I always have had a dictionary with me when I read because I did not know some words back then. My vocabulary expanded because of him.
Green Mile is the first book of Stepehen King that I've read and I was really moved by the story and how he describe things on his novel. I think he is the first author I admired. I thought that I've read most of his works but when I checked Goodreads there's a lot of novels I need to read and re-read.

Hope everyone is having a great day! Happy reading!

message 775: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 2 comments Hello all! I'm Lauren, and I'm in the midlands, UK. I inherited a love of King from my dad, and I began by reading all his old dog-eared, much-loved paperbacks to reading almost everything King's written.

My favourites have to be IT, The Stand, The Long Walk and The Dark Tower, of course.

I've just finished Mr Mercedes and I'm looking forward to the new release later this year. We've been very spoilt the past few years with so many new stories!

Looking forward to discussing King with fellow Constant Readers :)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Hi Everyone, I'm Sumit from India and I read a lot of Stephen King (and also a bit of Joe Hill).

I'm a big fan of King's older novels, but do feel that Doctor Sleep was definitely underwhelming, but I liked Mr. Mercedes (and am keenly looking forward to Finders Keepers) as well.

Looking forward to getting some great insights from folks here on various King books. :)

message 785: by Max (new)

Max (maxweldam) Hi everyone, joining my first real GR club, and of course its Stephen King's. When I was young(er), 12, my mother gave me Eyes of the Dragon to read. I was loved it and borrowed the Dark Tower from my aunt, who had part 1-3. She quit reading there, but it made me eager for more. I read the whole series over a span of about a year. I did some more reading after that (Darren Shan, Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter) But around my 17th I lost my reading habit, only reading what was necessary for school. Fast forward to now, 21 years, and since a year I've picked up my reading habit again, trying to read a book every week or so (sometimes it's three days, sometimes longer, depending on the book). And since the memory of the Dark Tower was so good still I decided to start reading more SK, now my plan is to read his whole bibliography while also still reading classics and recommendations of friends. I think I'm somewhere 40% of reading all SK, so I still have a lot of fun to look forward to. Although lately I've been putting more books in-between SK's because I'm getting really interested in other authors, but... SK is still my favorite.

message 786: by Nick (new)

Nick Roles Hi I'm Nick. New to goodreads and kinda new to SK.

I think Stephen King is a fantastic writer and his books are some of the best that I have ever read. I have decided this after only finishing 12 of his books (currently on the 13th) but my point still stands. Having decided to try a SK book due to his sons (Joe Hill) books being amazing, I feel very blessed and lucky that I took a chance.

Now back to Different Seasons and the very entertaining and disturbing Apt Pupil :)

Joe Hill is pretty amazing as well

message 788: by Troop (new)

Troop Leader Hello! Fairly new to reading SK. I have read IT, Salem's Lot, Under the Dome, The Eyes of the Dragon (read this one toy daughter with some editing) & DT series (I am on book V now and loving it!!). I'm a new mom and have just rediscovered my love of reading as well. After the kids are sleeping, that's my alone time.
My daughter (she's 7) has already been bitten by the King bug. She sees me reading this series and begs for details. She loved Eyes of the Dragon also. She has already started making her Christmas list and one of her top 5 is 'to have momma read Mr. King to her in October with only a flashlight'. ;). She loves scary stories.

Hi Bob, if you're into compelling 'can't put it down' reads I advise you check out Prince of Thorns. This is a fantastically frantic paced read with a somewhat different lead character. Cannot recommend it enough! Enjoy!

Joe Hill is indeed amazing. Would go as far as saying that his N0S4A2 is up there with my favourite King book so far, It.

My next SK will the The Talisman/Black House combo, which I am sure I will thoroughly enjoy.

Glad to be a part of this group and be able to talk books.

Colton | 32 comments Sorta new to King also, and new to this site. I've been into him for a while but only read the long walk and the shining. I've got a list a mile long on his other books I have to read. Hoping to meet other King fans as well on here!

Jude (judiferr) | 10 comments Hey, my name is Jude and I'm a younger (18 year old) Stephen King fan. I started reading his books when I was around 10-11 years old and I haven't been able to get enough of them since. I'm fairly new to Goodreads and I just joined this group. I've been trying to read books by other authors as well because for a while I was binge reading Stephen King and wouldn't read anything else haha.

The last book I read of his was The Dead Zone and I'm not sure which I want to read next. It would be impossible to pick my favorite book out of all of them.

Frank (knarfenstein) Hello Goodreads!

I'm fairly new to reading King, my first was in June of this year.

My favorites so far: 11/22/63, The Stand and The Running Man (I'm sure there will be many more.)

Mr. Mercedes, Joyland, and Desperation were a lot of fun as well.

Just getting started on The Regulators now.

I spent a weekend in Bangor this summer and got a chance to do the Stephen King tour which was a lot of fun and very informative. The guide / proprietor was quite passionate and that was a bit contagious. We'll definitely be going again in the future.

I'd also just recently heard about the collaborative musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. My wife is a HUGE musical fan so this will be a win win.

Anyway enough rambling.

Susan (edgarsden) | 88 comments Hi there !
I'm Natalie and I started my adventure with Mr. King earlier this year. I'm trying to read everything chronologically, started from Carrie and I'm currently on The Talisman.
I'm glad I found this group, I would love to discuss all the books I read.
Currently residing in the beautiful Oxford, England.

I can't say I read Carrie as soon as it was written, but soon enough that I have been able to read his books in order as they were published (or almost) and it makes me wonder how he seems to "new" King fans. We've watched him change gradually over decades. If they are quick readers, they can see his metamorphosis in a year or so.

BTW...welcome!
