Thanks Malina, I'm working on it. I wrote my response to Mike before I read yours BTW. Joe Hill is the perfect writer for him. Great minds...

Lanie (icevamp) | 145 comments Welcome Mike! We're in the process of moving so I've already pre-ordered the audio version of Mr. Mercedes. It will be great to read while I pack, organize & throw out. You're in good company here! Looking forward to sharing your thoughts on all things King!

Diptanjan Sarma Purkayastha (goodreadscomnightwalker) | 1 comments Hi I'm Deep from India . A friend of mine introduced me to SK's works I think about two years back, and me being a horror fan(I have seen tons of Horror flicks), I have grown to like him.
I have read It, The Stand, Duma Key, Pet Sematary, Carrie, The Dark Half, and On Writing. Among these my favourite is It, The Stand being a second favourite. (Duma Key is pretty good too).
I'm new on goodreads and still learning how to use the site, but hope to have some good time here.
Let's keep the baloons floating :D

Interestingly I think Pet Cemetary is one of his best books and the best horror book I have ever read so I guess it would have been a pity had that not been published.

Stephanie Holt Hello everyone. My name is Stephanie and I have been a huge fan of Stephen King for a very long time. My interest in his books began as a young teenager when I was fascinated by vampires and werewolves back in the mid 80s and discovered Salem's Lot. I have read much of his body of work some of my favourites being The Eyes of the Dragon, all of The Dark Tower series including his latest instalment The Wind Through the Keyhole, 11/22/63, IT, Needful Things, and The Stand not necessarily in order of my favourites. I haven't been reading any of his most recent work but look forward to entering any new world he wants to share with me. I enjoy reading other authors and genres as well, being a member of my local library book club has exposed me to some great books each month and I have made lasting friendships with people who have helped me grow as an individual. Reading is an integral part of my life and I have been expanding my horizons with writing in the last few years. I recently shared my first short story with a friend from book club. She had many good things to say and wasn't judgemental of my main character who is a serial killer. It seems my years of soaking in SK's darkness has encouraged the darkness in me to be released through writing. I look forward to reading the threads related to all of Stephen's books and sharing my thoughts.

Hi Priscilla! Another really good one is The Tommyknockers. Under the Dome was fantastic, have you watched any of the TV Series? I don't know if it has been released in the Netherlands or not, I watched the first season, the second season is starting up soon. It's been a while since I read the book so I'm not sure of the accuracy to the book but it is pretty good stand alone. I absolutely loved 11/22/63, so well done and somewhat different from a lot of his other work.

Welcome Vera. Yes, we have a lot to say about Mr. King and other writers of similar works. Also check out Neil Gamin, and Robert McCammon.

Aleksandra (sonjawegeman) Thank you Nick and Stephanie! :) I haven't watched any of the under the dome tv series, were they good?

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Priscilla wrote: "Thank you Nick and Stephanie! :) I haven't watched any of the under the dome tv series, were they good?"

I'd say the series was pretty weak... certainly not as good as the book, but for people who hadn't read it, it might have been okay. Lots of changes were made to the story and the nature of the characters and that bothered a lot of us.

Madeline (maddierose93) | 2 comments Hi, my name is Maddie, 21 years old... as a constant reader, I have been with Stephen King since 8th grade when I become infatuated with the movie The Shining and had to read the book. As in most cases, the book definitely scared me more! Just bought Mr. Mercedes and can't wait to start it!

Wow Holli... I wouldn't tell this to too many people. The government may capture you for some kind of an experiment: "What happens to a young woman who grew up reading Stephen King from a very early age."

JeanneMarie (aspienerdgirl) | 1 comments I'm Jeanne...Just wanted to say hello and looking forward to being part of this group. I used to go to the library and check out as many Stephen King books that would fit in my school bag, sneak them in my house and read them until the early mornings. My mother thought he was the reincarnate satan...lol...I thought and still to this day think he is one of the most influential horror writers of our time. I've read Richard Matheson and others whom he said influenced him. He had great teachers but he has now become the master.

Hello everyone, I'm Jessica!
Both my dad and my aunt are King's fans, and I have been surrounded by his books since I was born, more or less (this could explain a things or two regarding my personality, but nevermind).
The first novel I actually read was the Italian translation of "The Eyes of the Dragon", but in the last few years I have started to go methodically through his bibliography (and I've also switched to English, of course. Italian translations of King are a very unfortunate affair, believe me).
Nice to meet you all :)

Hey Jessica, welcome. I was thrilled when I was at the Venice airport and saw both the english and the italian translation of Under the Dome just a few weeks after the book was published. Didn't know they worked that fast.

Justin Fremont | 1 comments Hi, I have been reading Stephen King books off and on since I was 13 ( I am 28 now). I just finished the second Dark Tower book and will be starting the 3rd soon. I read a lot of comics, graphic novels and Star Wars books as well (check my "read list"). I am a pretty big video game geek and a musician as well.

Jo Phillipson | 41 comments Hi there,

My name is Jo Phillipson and I've just downloaded the Goodreads App. I'm a King fan and have been for about 15years. I've started reading Koontz now (Booby was reading 'Watchers' in The Tommyknockers so I checked it out. I'm just about to read Mr Mercedes. Please do get in touch if you'd like to chat about King's novels :-)

Jo x

message 692: by Nick (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Hey Jo, welcome. What's your favorite King?

message 693: by Jo (new)

Jo Phillipson | 41 comments That is a difficult one because they definitely fall into particular categories; however, I think if I had to choose, it would be the Dark Tower series. I really grew attached to the characters and actually cried whilst reading which doesn't often happen to me. Other favourites have to include The Stand and Salem's Lot. What about you? Do you like his short stories? I'm afraid I'm more into his novels. X

message 694: by Seely (new)

Seely | 3 comments Evening there....long time reader, first time user here.

UK (Nottinghamshire) based legal-person, interested in a range of things. I focus more on specific authors rather than individual genres, and were I to name my top ones:

-Dostoyevsky (Only recently discovered him, rapidly devouring all his major works)
-Arthur Conan Doyle
-HG Wells
-Michael Crichton
-Stephen King

And others! Recently been getting into the works of Orwell and Huxley.

Generally a fan of classics, but always interested in new things if they take my interest.

So...hello!

The Stand - one of the most enjoyable things i've read. Although Pet Sematary and Salem's Lot (plus others..) are also damn great reads.

I prefer the novels too, although I did read a lot of the short stories. Mt favorite is Wizard and Glass and several other Dark Tower books. Also like Salam's Lot, The Stand, 11/22/63, Joyland, Duma Key, Bag of Bones.

message 697: by Jo (new)

Jo Phillipson | 41 comments I haven't read 11/22/63. It's about the Kennedy assassination isn't it? I didn't fancy it because of this. I don't know much about the era. Should I give it a go? X

message 698: by Nick (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments It's a detailed account of an attempt to prevent the Kennedy assassination by going back in time, and there's a lot of focus on that, but there's a great story wrapped around it too. I'd say it's worth the read.

message 699: by Jo (new)

Jo Phillipson | 41 comments Have you read Mr Mercedes yet? I have it on my kindle but I'm saving it for my holiday so I can really enjoy it.
