LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Nicole: Anytime! I see. I wish I had known since I've yet to read it, but it's on my TBR!

Danny Coughlin's Bad Dream was insanely good. LoL I loved each story; some were scarier than others, but I love reading anything by Stephen King. It just makes my day :-)

My all-time favorite King novel is IT, what about you?

Tuna Girl | 2 comments Hi! I’m Maddie, I’m from Mass and I’m starting college as a freshman in the fall. I’m kinda new to this app so don’t mind me if I do something silly haha

I first read Carrie when I was in middle school and it totally got me hooked! I’ve been reading mostly King ever since but I was a slow reader growing up so most of the reading I have done has been more recently. My favorite one I’ve read so far has to be Pet Semetary, I think about that book every day! Although The Long Walk comes into a VERY close second place!!!! I’m finishing up ‘Salem’s Lot right now (I feel “eh” about it which I know may be controversial)

I’m OBSESSED! With the Bachman Books! I have 3 copies and I buy them whenever I find em. I know they aren’t actually that rare, but it feels, idk, like finding a lucky penny whenever I do find a copy so I always buy it! Love the Long Walk, and I feel whatever about Rage but I more enjoy the controversy around it, even wrote my senior essay on it!

Anywho, I’ve blabbed much more than I meant to. I hope to make some friends here!

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Maddie: Welcome! Good luck starting college in the Fall. That's so exciting :-)

LoL the Goodreads app/website are a bit annoying and ancient but yeah, I know what you mean.

Carrie is truly a classic! My first King novel was IT, and my life has changed forever since that incredible reading experience. Pet Semetary was also an insanely great experience. I've yet to read The Long Walk, but it's on my TBR.

'Salem's Lot, Misery, Mr. Mercedes Trilogy, etc. are just all incredible reads, excellent choices!

Which is your favorite Bachman book? I've yet to read any of them, but I have a few on my TBR.

I'm looking forward to future discussions with you about Uncle Stevie!

I feel like it goes without saying my fav Bachman is The Long Walk lol. Nobody ever talks abt it, but something about the plot of that book and even more than that, the characters, really stuck with me! I’ve read the first two in the omnibus (rage and long walk) and I’m starting running man tonight after taking a break from the bachman books for a couple months in favor of longer stories. I hear the Running Man is also a very good one, so I’m very excited, and then all that’s left for me to read is Roadwork which I hear is pretty bad. I had tried to read Roadwork before and got bored lol so it probably is pretty bad!

And I just finished ‘Salem’s Lot last night, I have to say although I did enjoy it I don’t think it is one of my favorites I’ve read. I can’t say exactly what it was, other than maybe it just wasn’t scary enough and I didn’t care much abt the characters, but it just didn’t grasp me! Not bad at all though.

The Long Walk is also my favorite Bachman. Did you know they are currently filming the movie adaptation? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they stick to the source.

message 5358: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Maddie: LoL that makes sense! I can't wait to read it soon, hopefully before the end of this year. I'm the same way, I like to throw in new authors and subgenres of horror to keep things balanced. I also haven't read The Running Man or Roadwork, also heard they're fantastic. LoL so many books... such little time.

What did you think of 'Salem's Lot? What did you give it from 1-5? I understand what you mean, I'm glad you enjoyed it, though!

I am looking forward to the Long Walk adaptation and I agree, I really hope they keep to the source material. I don't think I can handle another King adaptation that goes off the rails.

D L Randle | 2 comments Hi all, new to the group and a fan of Stephen King, for his books and for who he is as a person. As a writer, I so appreciated his book 'On Writing'. It helped me so much but my favourite part of the book was the memoir section. His own story is as fascinating as anything he has written. Thanks, and love from Canada.

Best wishes!

The Dead Zone
Cell
The Dark Tower I&II
The Running Man (under Richard Bachman)
