Andre Hello to all! I'm an avid reader of anything to do with horror and one who loves to hold an actual book in my hands. I have recently found myself branching out to many other genres of writing, to include just about anything out there except maybe romance novels, lol. I'm not quite there yet. So much to read and so little time. Love using goodreads to track the books I own and the ones I have read, plus taking part of these discussion groups . Not a bad place to also let others know of the books you'd like to read. Take care fellow readers and enjoy your books.

Welcome Andre,
Good for you for branching out to other unexplored genres!
Not many romance novels found in this group, though, Enjoy!

Azrael Marko Horvat Angelos | 1 comments Hej hej everyone!
I’m Azrael Marko, 31-year-old Croatian living in Sweden. New here. I’m a Stephen King fan since high school and I own all books that he wrote, though read only couple of them cause I was lost in the career jungle. I’m so happy that there are people that share same interest in books and nice horror stories with sarcasm sprayed all over them.

Feel free to add me as a friend and nudge me if there is an empty shelf in ‘Currently reading’.

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Andre: Welcome and that's understandable. I know it takes time to find the right genre that completes you, hopefully, it's horror! LoL if not, no biggie, whichever genre it is, enjoy and happy reading :-)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Azreal: Welcome and very awesome! You came to a wonderful place :-)

Valerie Book Valkyrie | 62 comments Hej Azrael, Welcome!
Glad you found your way here and that you are finding time to read more of the books in your collection.
"nice horror stories with sarcasm sprayed all over them" is a clever summary of King's style of horror.
Good reads to you!

edward todd | 5 comments I am new to the group and not really sure where to or how to comment on subjects. I just found this section been looking for it. Anyways my question is What book are y’all currently reading?

Valerie Book Valkyrie | 62 comments Welcome edward todd! Glad you found your way here, hope you enjoy the group. I'm pretty new here, too, and am finding my way around by trial and error along with the help of a few supportive members.
One way to find a page that shows what we are currently reading is to scroll to the top of this page. In the upper right section you will see the name of the group: Stephen King Fans. Directly under that you will see "Group Home". Click on "Group Home". The resultant page will show you what we are currently reading . Toward the right of that page you will see the book for March. The March book is titled Finders Keepers. Take some time to just click on different things, scroll around the pages, and explore the site. Like all digital media, devices, and platforms it's trial and error. And, as always......
Good Reads to You

Also, you will only be presented with a comment box, in which you can write your comments, after you join a group.. Most groups have their "join" button on the upper left side of their "Group Home" page.

Billy Brew | 3 comments Hi everyone, I joined a while ago but have not introduced myself yet. I have never been an avid reader but a big fan of horror films and TV. Started reading SK after watching a few of the films such as IT and Doctor Sleep. Going well so far read a couple, currently reading Finders Keepers after finishing the Outsider.

Valerie Book Valkyrie | 62 comments Welcome Billy!
Glad you found the group and are reading Finders Keepers; it is the group reading selecetion for March. So glad you are reading! If you can, it would be interesting to read a SK book before seeing the movie. I would be interested in your opinion of the book vs the movie. Good Reads to You!

message 5172: by Billy (new)

Billy Brew | 3 comments Hey Valerie, I actually read The Outsider before I watched the TV show. So now I have finished that book I am currently watching the TV to see how it matches up. So far I think the TV is pretty good, there are a few parts from the book that are missing but overall I am currently enjoying it

Jenn Scha | 3 comments Howdy. My name is Jennifer and I love SK. He was the first fiction novel I ever read. It was The Tommyknockers recommended by a friend. Middle School maybe? I hate to say that was probably the single worst book to start on. It was a rough go finishing that book. My second book was It, but it took a while to convince me. Once I read that I was pretty hooked.

I'm a huge fan of DT series. That would be the first time I waited for books to be published. I've never been disappointed with his writing. If those times come about where I'm not reading like I want to, SK will always get me back into the groove.

Valerie Book Valkyrie | 62 comments Welcome Jenn! So glad you found the group and an author that inspires you to read. Hope you will join us for this month's group read: Finders Keepers.
Good Reads to You!

I feel the same about King's books; you're never disappointed. Even if sometimes I don't like how a particular action unfolded, an ending, or some other passage, it's always worth it because of his writing, the way it holds us on every page.

Welcome to the group ;)

message 5190: by Nick (new)

Nick | 24 comments Hello! My name is Nick and I'm from the Detroit area. I'm excited to be joining the group and seeing what everyone has to say. The first King book that I read was Duma key just a few years ago. While the end is a bit of a let down the rest of the book had me truly enthralled. I have ready and re-read many of his books by this point but there is still a long way to go on catching up!

I generally find that my tastes are a little more eclectic that others when it comes to my favorites that I have read so far.
Some thoughts:
I've read the dark tower series and feel like the final book was a pretty massive let down. I'm not a huge fan of the full series in general though. My favorites were Song of Susannah and The Wind Through the Keyhole (I know, both unpopular opinions, don't say I didn't warn you). What are other peoples favorites in the series?
I'm also a huge fan of Insomnia. I've read it twice and loved it both times. I do think that it should be considered as part of the Dark Tower series and I think it's the best of them.
I recently read/listened to Desperation as read by Kathy Bates. I thought it was absolutely brilliant but I read that it may have been an abridged version. I may have to reread the book myself one day and see if I still feel the same afterwards.
Other favorites include the more Classic novels of the Shining, Misery, and Pet Semetary. I would argue that they are three of his greatest masterworks but I'm still yet to get to some of the "more important" novels in his bibliography such as Salems Lot or the Stand.
I'm going to terminate this before I get any more ramble-y here as I haven't even gotten to things like the short story collections or the hard case crime novels. All this to say though, that I love to have the opportunity to discuss things in a forum and am very much looking forward to getting to hear others opinions and thoughts!

Heather | 2 comments I've been here a while but I don't think I've ever introduced myself. My name is Heather, from Alabama. I got into Stephen King years ago as a kid after seeing some of his tv movies like Cujo, Carrie, Christine, to name a few. I loved the Stand when I saw it on TV and I think it might have been the first book I read as a young adult. I can go on and on but I'm recently getting back into reading his books and catching up and have read a lot of his stuff through the years. I really enjoyed the Institute last year and read a lot of his short story collections last year too. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

heather (mrsvlibrary) | 1 comments Good day/night!

I've been a huge Stephen King fan since high school. The first book my mother let me read by him was It however the book I fell in love with was The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon! That book stole my breath and heart while increasing my love of his work. I started to get back into reading last year and am building up my collection. I really cannot wait his books but the ones I've thoroughly enjoyed have been: Cell, Cujo, 'Salem's Lot, It, The Dark Tower Series.

Feel free to add me so we can talk about books. My reading genre is all over the place nowadays so I'm open to any and all suggestions!

Alex Party | 1 comments Hi all, big SK fan (as we all are) from the UK. Was introduced to King when I was just starting secondary school, so around age 11. Swiped my dads copy of Salems Lot and been hooked ever since. I've read most of his big ones, The Stand, IT, even The Tommyknockers and enjoyed them all. Salems Lot will always be my number 1 but Misery and The Stand are battling it out for a close second (I've read them both at least twice). To cut a long story short i've had a bit of a break from his work over recent years but now determined to finish what I started 40 years ago and get through all his works. Just finished the Dark Tower and now onto Desperation/The Regulators and i've recently discovered Audible so i'm managing to devour them at a fairly brisk pace!! Apologies for the long winded intro but i'm glad to be a part of this group and if anyone is starting a read-along at some point in the future i'll be glad to tag along if that's ok?!
