message 5110: by Mirabel081 (new)

Mirabel081 Hi fellow Stephen King's books lovers! Name's Mirabel, and I am forever grateful to my favorite cousin, a book-nerd like me, for lending me Firestarter when I was 14. That was my first reading of him. I've been hooked up ever since, and to this day (am 43 now) King's still my favorite author. Long live the King! :-D

message 5111: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Mirabel: Welcome and that's so awesome how you became a Constant Reader! Same here, it all started with IT and I never looked back :-)

James Murray (creepyreads) | 1 comments Hey!
I'm James from Cornwall (UK) but currently live in Bristol (UK).
I love to read (pretty much exclusively horror).

I read my first King book last year, I know! mental for a massive horror fan. But I was overwhelmed and didn't know where to start, and was afraid I may not like the master of horror if I did read something.

But now I have started I can't stop. And decided at the end of last year to read his complete works in publication order, minus the 9 books I read last year.

Mattimaxo | 3 comments Hello y'all. I joined the group a few months ago, but haven't been on Goodreads since. I see we have Mr. Mercedes for our January read, which is great because I just picked it up from Books-a-Million. I was wondering: Do we plan on reading the trilogy and possibly the few other titles before Holly? That's what I was planning on doing this year.

I actually read them all before Holly was published just to get the full story.

SuspiriaBlack | 1 comments Hello horror fans,
I’m starting the new year with a reading goal and also have a goal to stay more active in my book clubs. My name is Danielle but everyone calls me Spooks because of my love of all things horror and Halloween. I am a retired dental assistant of 30 years and now work for Starbucks full time. I’ve been a barista since 2014 minus the Covid year and half. Instead of spending my time on social media I fill my time with books. King is one of my heroes and I look forward to seeing our next book for February.

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Suspiria: Welcome and very awesome! You came to a wonderful place as this group rocks and wow, that makes sense to me of spending more time reading than on social :-)

message 5123: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (redsunflowers) | 1 comments Hello! I am a long time SK fan in my 40s who grew up reading his books but drifted away from his work for a while. Last year when I got back into reading I decided to delve into his newer books. Fairy Tale, Revival, and The Institute are my favorite post-2000 King work, though I'm still working my way through it.

Feel free to add me, I add everyone back. Always looking to meet other book lovers and fellow King fans.

message 5124: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Amanda: Welcome and understandable as that also happened to me! I took an over 10+ year break from reading and being a Constant Reader but came back and got right into it easily :-)

Wow, some awesome pictures there and I loved Fairy Tale! I've yet to read Revival or The Institute but it's on my TBR so hopefully this year!

message 5126: by Cooper (new)

Cooper | 1 comments Greetings, I'm Cooper, a fairly new edition to King's constant readers. I'm a massive fan of The Dark Tower and 'Salem's Lot, and I'm slowly making my way through the older stuff of his that I haven't read yet. The next two on the docket are looking like they're gonna be IT and The Tommyknockers. Feel free to add me if you'd like.
Long days and pleasant nights.

message 5129: by Oʟᴊᴀ (new)

Oʟᴊᴀ I started reading Lisey's story in 2013, and I finished it in 2022. If that's not a definition of a slow reader, I don't know what it is lol!
Yeah, I'm one of those people who fell into "social media" trap and have been in it for good 10 years. Diff chat platforms, groups, online friendships, games...
Over those 10 years I think I've picked up and started Lisey's story from the beginning at least 5-6 times and each time somehow I would manage to forget to continue reading.
And then I had enough. I missed reading so much that when I picked up the book again, I don't think I did anything else in my free time other than read, read, read, until I finished it. And I didn't like it all that much but it was still good to be back in the world of books, in the SK world.

Since then I read mostly new works, The institute, Levitation, The fairy tale, Mr Mercedes... but there's so much more to go back to :)

When I think of SK and "favorite", for some reason my mind always goes to the "Insomnia". Probably because I was always reading it at night and it did scare me to a point that few times I didn't "dare" getting out of bed even when I really needed to lol

Good to be back to reading, feels great to have discovered this site and this group as well - a lot more interesting reading for me to do along the books :)

Big HI to all from coldish-windish-darkish Sweden :))

message 5132: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Stewart Hello everyone, my name is Jordan, I honestly can’t remember the time I made my Goodreads account, as I have had one for awhile but, I just really started joining the groups and getting into the community as a whole now, I’m still fairly new to Stephen King’s works but, I will say my favorite out of the ones I have read is probably Salem’s Lot as I’m a huge fan of the Vampire sub-genre myself, although I have read a few others, like Pet Sematary back in 2019 when the newest adaptation hit theaters, I also have read the shining which all three of those I have enjoyed as well as Carrie, but Salem’s Lot , is by far my favorite.

I’m about to check out Misery so, can’t wait to discuss my thoughts here when I’m done.

Valerie Book Valkyrie | 62 comments Hi, my name is Valerie, retired in Vermont, joined Good Reads today, and am so happy to join this group. The first King novel for me was Dead Zone. My interest was more medical at the time as I'm a Nurse Practitioner; but after that first read I was taken...really enjoy the way King hooks his reader with down to earth, believable, characters who unwittingly become entrenched in conflict, suspence, and of course the supernatural. So glad to have found this group and am looking forward to participating!

Julia Catherine (juliacatherinereads) | 1 comments Hi! I’m Julia I’m 22
I come from a big horror movie family so I was raised watching his movies and when I fell in love with reading. Weirdly enough my reading was monitored since I couldn’t paid with my own books but as soon as I got a job I started with Carrie ( I have a thing with doing things in order so I had to start with his first publish) My absolute favorite is book is Under The Dome and my favorite movie is The Green Mile. I join this group because I’m hoping to make more Stephen King friends on my GR and even just some horror friends to follow !

Vitor Guimarães | 1 comments Hello, My name is Vitor, I'm 30 and from São Paulo, Brazil. Have been a fan of SK for sometime now even though I've not read a lot of his books. I read the "Talisman" as a teenager, hardly remember it by now, but "It" was the one that really made me love SK and became one of my favourite novels ever. Every time I enter a reading slump I turn do Stephen... He's always able to pull me back in (add Pacino's Michael Corleone impression)... Glad to be here, I'm currently reading "11/22/63", and by what I just said about "It" those of you who read it can guess, and rightly so, that I'm loving it, so far... So, hey everybody!

message 5146: by Adrienne L (new)

Adrienne L Hi all. I've been on GR for about a year now, but just recently joined this group. Stephen King is probably the reason I love horror above all other genres, having discovered his books in my preteen years after reading a lot of Christopher Pike. I got away from reading his stuff as I got older and his writing diverged from the traditional horror I love, but I've recently renewed my enthusiasm for the master, starting when I picked up The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon a couple years ago. Now, I've been re-reading old favorites like Pet Semetary and Night Shift and discovering new hits like Revival and the Mr. Mercedes series. I look forward to discussing his books with other Constant Readers here.

Welcome Vitor! 11/22/63 is in my top 3 of Stephen King favorites. I especially enjoyed it from a historical fiction perspective.
Happy Reading to you.

Welcome Adriennelee, glad you are here. From your intro it sounds like you prefer SK's mysterious and supernatural rather than violent bloody gore.....I do, too; am looking forward to reading your reviews.
