1. IT
2.insomnia
Number 3 depends on my mood, probably pet sematary, the shining or misery

Kandice | 4387 comments Mine are (in no particular order)
The Dead Zone
Lisey's Story
The Dark Tower

Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Blastronaut Rocks.. (blastyulbynner) | 32 comments Welcome to The Jungle Brandon. IT is one of my fave King books but seeing as you've already done that one... I guess it depends if ya wanna read his older stuff or more recent. Out of more recent I'd go for Doctor Sleep (maybe read Shining first tho) or The Institute. The Outsider worth a punt too.
Pre 2012, there's an abundance of excellence and I couldn't list em because almost all of em would be there! For something a bit different maybe try the Dark Tower books? They'd keep ya busy for a while.

Julia | 224 comments Welcome Brandon.. :)
My top 3 King books would probably be..
1) Misery
2) The Green Mile
3) The DT series (technically not one book..!!)

Hello and welcome Sandra from cold - but surprisingly sunny - England. Rain, wind and miserable weather in general is usually order of the day in UK so I feel like sticking up a flag and maybe throwing a street party when sun's out! : )

It's always tough to narrow it down, lol:

The Stand
The Dark Tower (#1)
The Shining

There are a bunch of runner ups like It, Carrie, Misery and a few others.

Thank you :)

My favourite King's are:

Pet Sematary
Mr Mercedes
Needful Things
11/22/63

His worst: Duma Key (sorry!)

Thanks for the welcome everyone and yes, it's raining again today lol.
Regards,
Sandra

Norbert Demeter | 4 comments Hi everyone,
I'm Norbert, 41 years old, and I've loved King for as long as I can remember. My first novel was The Shining, of course it was love at first read. I have been addicted to the old man's style ever since. :D
I have read all of his books several times, and I'm glad I found this group where I can discuss these great novels.
I will finally have a good reason to read them again with the group. Anyway, I'm just starting to get active here on Goodreads, hope to find a good community here :)

message 5062: by Kellie (new)

Kellie | 106 comments Welcome to the group Norbert. Glad to have you with us. Wow that is amazing you have read all of his books several times! I am still making my way through them all. I had a bit of a late start and there are so many books I want to read.

message 5063: by LTJ (new)

LTJ (ltj81) | 379 comments @Norbert: Welcome and that's so awesome! Mine was IT but also loved The Shining :-D

This is an amazing group, welcome home, Constant Reader!

Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Blastronaut Rocks.. (blastyulbynner) | 32 comments Welcome to The Jungle Norbert. I'm relatively new to this place myself. I'm sure you'll fit in comfortably. Everyone's quite pleasant, not to mention knowledgeable of all things King. For the record, my first SK book was The Dead Zone. Not one that gets mentioned alongside his very best but I'd put it right up there personally.

Thank you. :) There was a time when if you met me, I always had a King book in my hand or in my bag. This love affair has been going on for 26 years. Although I'm not so much a fan of his newer books, the old ones are still big favorites.

Norbert Demeter | 4 comments @LTJ: Thanks for the welcome. :) It's cool, that you mentioned IT, because that is my favorite book from King. I think it's one of his best novels.

Thank you. It's nice to gather around the work of a good writer and discuss our thoughts on the novels. The Dead Zone was the first King novel I was moved by. I don't think it's his best book either, yet there's a special power to that story.

Welcome, Brandon...

Well, I'd normally default to The Stand and the Dark Tower series, but since I've read them so many times they aren't as "fresh" to me anymore....

Another I always fall back on is Hearts in Atlantis, which is a nice coming of age story with some creepy stuff filtered in....

Interesting, I'll have to check those out. My favorite books from Stephen King are IT and Cujo. Have you read those by any chance or no?

Yes, I've read both, though many many years ago. Excellent stuff.

Ah ha! Very good!! We just a need a couple of new posters going by the names of Slash and Duff and we got the string section nailed down. In absence of a 'Steven' or an 'Adler' we could recruit another drummer. A slight tweak to your name dude, and we have former drummer from Kiss? Drag anyone in for vocals considering how shot Axl's voice now is.

✨️ fantastica ✨️ (fantasticdead) | 1 comments Hello, I'm trying to do more reading this year, and King is an author I really enjoy even though I haven't read everything from him, alas! My favorite(s) of his: Salem (it also scared me so much), Cujo. I really didn't like Insomnia at all. I love Creepshow because it's such a perfect combination of the 80s and Stephen King. So Hi, I'm going to try to read along. Also my name is Pauline, or Fantastic works too (because of the username).
