Hello, my name is Ivana, i'm 23y and brazillian and recently I started reading King's books. So far i read Joyland, After and just stared Misery. I also watched some films, series and adaptations, i already love all of it.

Hey all SK fans! Quick intro Im a 47 yo woman whos been reading King books since I was 12! My 1st book was Carrie. I read IT one summer while I was grounded! lol

Welcome to The Jungle - I'm done expecting Slash to play that intro whenever I say that. Just not gonna happen is it? You'll probably find that i am the solitary village/forum idiot but dunnah worry, I am by no means representative of the group in general. They seem pretty sane. Am sure you'll get along just fine here.
For the record, IT is, and has always been, one of my fave King books. I find it hard for anything to surpass it but maybe a few reach that high standard he set with it.

Long time Stephen King fan who is really struggling with Fairy Tale for some reason. Has taken me many months to get half way so far. Anyone else struggled with this one or just me?? Thanks for listening.

@Corinne: Welcome and that's awesome! IT was my first King novel and I never looked back. Constant Reader for over 25 years going strong :-D
You are not alone, I also struggled with Fairy Tale. I too found it a bit long and boring. I did like the beginning but once he went to the other land I just lost interest and got bored. I almost didn’t finish it.
Hey there!Haven't been reading much books for basically my whole life because high school just forced us to, and that's not fun. A few years later my interests got tingled once again because I started to like horror movies and horror videogames and I wanted to get a new experience. Stephen King was the first author who came to mind and earlier this year I bought "It" (which I still need to read, oops). After that I found "The Shining" in a book store at the end of the summer break and read through it pretty fast! I read Carrie, A Long Walk, Dr. Sleep and Gwendy's Button Box afterwards and am currently reading Billy Summers and I'm loving reading them so far!
Loving it so much, that in a few months my collection has grown to 30+ Stephen King books, and a bookshelf is on the way because I'm upgrading my room.
I'm super excited to, finally, be here and to read all the books! :)

@Menno: Welcome and for sure, I used to HATE reading in school as well since it was never fun and always felt like work. I also never really enjoyed reading classic novels all that much that weren't horror since it bored the hell out of me.IT was my first King novel and I hope you love it as much as I did. LoL fair warning, it's a HUGE novel so keep that in mind :-)
I'm so glad your King collection has grown that much, that's awesome! From one Constant Reader to another, I'm also excited for you!

I collect King novels and have around 40-odd.
All time favourite is Salem's Lot, I hope to have a full collection of published works from King one day.

I picked up Desperation and the Stand a couple of months ago, have you read them yet/what did you think?
You have set quite a challenge for yourself, I hope you do own a full set eventually that would be amazing.. I have red both of them but it was a very long time ago and I think I really liked Desperation and The Stand equally although both are unique.. :)

Brave thing to say that, Julia. Most fans would be on your case for saying that, with The Stand being kinda worshipped amongst King fans. I might just agree with ya. Desperation certainly no worse than The Stand in any case. But like yourself.... many many moons have passed since I read either of em.

Welcome to our group Sarah! I have not yet read Desperation but my sister claims it is her favourite Stephen King novel. However I have read the Stand and it is one of my favourites and in my Top 5 Stephen King books. It is big but I highly recommend!

Yeah the head stuff bit gave my imagination a work out. I feel like that on most days tbh. An alien inside my head erasing all my memories and I’m scrabbling around trying to hide them..!!
The film was a bit pants now I think about it, the ending was especially silly..
Nice to have someone with your unique skill set here not that it will be put to much use I’m afraid we’re a relaxed, fun group. Ha, I’m making you sound like Liam Neeson in Taken.. 😂
