Who is your favourite character?

message 2: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Wilhelm (wilhcarm) I don't have a favorite but I especially enjoy Sibyl's announcements, the scenes where Ana and Bates talk, when Mary and Ana talk, and when any two characters speak and reveal the plot!

Oh, I just love Cousin Violet! She's so funny!

message 4: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Wilhelm (wilhcarm) Violet has the best "zinger" lines and of course that actress was great in Harry movies!

Oh yes, Maggie Smith is superb actress, either as Dowager Countess or Professor McGonagall!

Judy | 20 comments I really love Lady Mary. I know she's a little catty at times but she tugs at my heart when she cries (fantastc acting!)

Like that time, when she was crying in her room because her father refused to fight for her share in the estate!
"Don't you see? He has a son now!" - about Matthew

message 8: by Judy (new)

Judy | 20 comments Exactly! And also when she was crying with Carson after Matthew rejected her, and after her father talked to her after learning about Mr. Pamuk, the list goes on and on - when she's crying or on the brink there I go too!

message 9: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Wilhelm (wilhcarm) Oh, it would be difficult not to project some perceptions about Matthew onto a look alike!

message 10: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina (tonyashall) I just got onto the series. And I love them all!

Eeeeee! That is so exciting! I'd love to meet the actor (Dan Stevens)

message 12: by Tara (new)

Tara Sybil, of course. I love a modern woman. :)

Yes, I would have to agree with Tara, I like Sybil because she is headstrong, but I also love sarcastic wit of The Dowager Countess!

Tara Lol. I love Branson. He's pretty much my ideal fictional "man"tasy, for that time period anyway. Irish accent, the poor boy whose romantic gestures sweep you off your feet. :P
PS, don't give too much away, I'm not up to season 3 yet!;)

message 15: by Tara (new)

Tara No worries :P I should be soon though. Will order season 3 DVD asap.

Totally have to agree with Branson being an ideal "man"tasy( great choice of words by the way) he's sensitive and handsome!

Sabrina (tonyashall) I am so loving Downton Abbey! It helps to feed history addiction.

message 18: by Carol (new)

Carol (carolmo) I just watched the first two seasons and love the series! The Dowager Countess cracks me up! I do not like Thomas, however!

I actually did a PowerPoint presentation in Art & Culture about the way people dressed in the Edwardian Era. I felt so important- look at me, I know everything about this!:)

Judy | 20 comments Mary was my favorite, but she's been a big "B" lately and is falling out of favor with me...Miss Sybil.

Matthew has the best head on his shoulders, something to balance out the Grantham family, especially with seeking a manageable business plan for Downton and being supportive of the least favored family members. He is a character of morals and more importantly a conscience especially after Lavinia.
