Maria (a) | 5 comments This is about the St. Clare's series, by Enid Blyton. Apparently, for the English speaking world, Pamela Cox has written a couple of extra books for this series, effectively changing the numbers of the books. These additions, however, are not translated in Dutch.

For the first four books, this doesn't pose any problems. For the book thereafter though, there is a discrepancy: for the English speaking world, this would be book number 7, while in Dutch, it would be book number 5.

How do I deal with this? Do I just change the series number in the Dutch title, so the number is different from the original English edition, or do I add a Dutch series, which only has the six books that were translated in Dutch?

I hope I've explained this clearly enough. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Banjomike | 5166 comments There is already a German version of the series with even more additional volumes in German so a dedicated Dutch version makes a lot of sense.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments While the differences in the languages wouldn't require a new series to be created, the differences in the numbering do. If the books are published in a different order, you need to create a new series to give the new order. (Please remember to put links in the series descriptions on all of the related series pointing to the others. Also make sure that the series with the original numbering is the primary series on each book so that it shows first on the book page.)

Also makes sense. Publication order is always my favorite especially when the extra volumes are not even by the proper author.

Renske | 12222 comments In this the question is, what is the primary series, with or without the extra books by an other author between the original books.

My vote:
primary = Enid Blyton in publication order
extras = other people in publication order
