Sherry:But what 3 great books you read!! Lehane and Carr, yahoo!
Dan, at what point do you consider a BFB big enough to count as 2, and have you ever done that??

That's why a page count is really a more accurate way of keeping track. However, if you use electronic or audio books, then you have to check on the published page count with the library or Amazon sites. And, no, I haven't counted a BFB as two, but I have counted a novelette as a book.
I have counted a novelette as a book as well, but not children's picture books. I have never counted a BFB or RBFB as 2 although I was surely tempted when reading Follett and Gabaldon!
I am going to get back to Live by Night soon, Sherry! The bane of having so many library books is that I let books that don't have to returned gather a bit of dust so often. If I had to count just my print books I would only have two this month. I am going to probably count the essay I am listening to right now as a book and it is a little over an hour long.
Dan: I wish I was disciplined enough to keep up with page counts. Perhaps I will tackle that this year. I have changed my Excel habits to only list the books I finish reading. Listing all the Kindle titles, freebies and books I bring home from the library and don't get to was getting too time consuming. Which reminds me I should download my lists from Goodreads at the end of the year for safekeeping.
Live by Night is worth the time to read. I do a book count and a page count, and just out of curiosity I divide the page count by 350 and compare it to the book count. Usually within 3 or 4, with my average something a bit higher than 350 pages/book.
Good idea about the page count versus book count, may have to do both next year. I have done that in the past, but when I switched to almost exclusively e-books on my kindle, I stopped.

I think I mostly did a good job with making sure I put page counts down this year. I think my problem was not counting the shorter books I read on the nook maybe under 100 (like the novelles) the rest of the year I'm going too. maybe not if they are below 50. I mean what to count and what not to count. it's still going in the book journal under a page each month called Shorts. so it is listed.
