Tiffany Is Despereaux really a mouse with a "black heart"?
Do you like Despereaux's parents and siblings? Why or why not?

Ilze Of course he doesn't have a "black heart"! That's the whole point: he's the only one with a heart

Noah Chanthongthip I agree that he is the only one that has a heart. All of the other creatures have a black heart.

Marti The tale of Despereaux is a fun book as many other books. I knew that despereaux needed love and his family.

Andrew Sussingham of course Despereaux did not have a black heart. Kate DiCamillo makes this in evident point early on in the novel when on page 20 "but Desperaux was not listening to Furlough. He was staring at the light pouring in through the stained glass window of the castle." also Despereaux proves he has when he goes back into the dungeon with nothing but a needle to save the beautiful princess pea whom he loved very much. I do not care much for his parents they outcasted him from the start because of his size. my favorite character in the story was Hovis, the "Threadmaster."
