Fast forward a few years. I'm in 7th grade, and there's a new movie coming out: The Fellowship of the Ring. I discovered that this movie is related to those movies I watched, and I decide I must see it. But wait! They're based on books! I was initially planning on just reading FOTR before the movie came out, but my mother made me read the Hobbit first. I was mad that she did because I didn't want to wait that long to see the movie, but I did as I was told. I'm definitely glad now that I read it, but not necessarily happy that I was forced to read it then. FOTR was in the dollar theatre by the time I finished reading The Hobbit and FOTR.

My dad didn't want me to waste my money on another book order, though every time I got a book from a book order it was quickly devoured.
I ended up scraping all my hard earned couch money together as we'll as the few dollars I had left from my money I received from doing chores. The next day I went to school and against my Dad's wishes I purchased the book.
So I guess you could say that my want to read this book lead to my first rebellion at a young age. However, it was totally worth it!

I think that story is great -- your mother not letting you see FOTR until you've read the book! Too funny, but cool.
