The bad news is that at this stage it looks like we have uneven teams, and I hadn't planned for that so have to finagle the scoring so that it remains fair... The good news that there are only hours left til the Dance Party event RSVP finishes, so we could still have two late-comers to the game, and we will definitely have the team lists up in the next 24 hours!!
Yay. I'm looking forward to this round, I seem to know more people taking part and looking forward to the new rules and scoring.

I have a question about scoring. Lets say my book I read has the author's name matches a singers name, that would be 5 points. But also in that same book there is an item on the cover that ties into the lyrics so tht would be 2 points. Do I then get 7 points becasue I can tie the book in mutiple ways or do I just take the highest rated tie in and only get 5 points?
Great question Dawn!! You would get 7 points for both links , but you would have to provide the quotes / links to both in your review.

We really should stop harrasing you and focus our efforts on those who didn't RSVP... If they had just RSVP'd on the first day we could have had teams days ago. And then we'd only have to bug you about posting the first song!

OMG!! I'm so sorry!!! I've had visitors come unexpectedly (at 8am!!!! who does that?!!!!!) and I was still in my pyjamas, so total freakout. I haven't fixed the team threads yet, will have to do that when they leave but thought you might appreciate the list going up here!!

Rules & Discussion
Rules: Using a list of popular songs, we will call out one song each week on Friday Nights. Players must find a book that can link to the song and read it before the end of the week. For this first two weeks, the DJ will be giving you some pointers/clues with each song to help you figure out how you can link to your weekly book. After the first two weeks, you're on your own in choosing your own links. Team members can all read the same book, all read different books, or somewhere in between. It's all good, as long as you can reference how the book links to the song. Bouncers have the right to veto your selection with a reason supplied, in which case you will then need to choose another book. Books can be any genre. Books must be 150 pages or more in length. If Goodreads doesn't have a page count, you must choose another book. You must be prepared to post AT LEAST once a week in your team thread.
Scoring: As each player finishes their book for the week, they must rate and and give a minimum-2-sentence review saying what they liked or disliked about the book. You earn individual points depending on the strength of the link between the song and your book. Individual points also add into your team total.
Shelf= 1 point - (only the shelf linked under that week's song counts for this)
Cover= 2 points - (item on the cover links to the video clip or lyrics)
Plot= 3 points - (one of the plot points links to the song)
Title= 4 points - (song title and book title have matching key words i.e. not a preposition)
Name= 5 points - (First or last name of author, artist or character matches)
Setting= 6 points - (publishing date matches release date or place matches lyrics)
When ALL team members have finished their book for the week, Team captains can then head to the "Hey Mr DJ" thread and request for the music to be turned up :-) Points will be awarded by how fast the team read, reviewed and rated their books for the week. Team points do not affect individual points.
1 Day after song post = 7 points
2 days after... = 6 pts
3 days after... = 5 pts
4 days after... = 4 pts
5 days after... = 3 pts
6 days after... = 2 pts
7 days after... = 1 pts
8 or more days after... = 0 pts
The team with the highest total score at the end of the game WINS!

Duration: Sign ups will open up today and will continue until the 15th December. Then once I have confirmation from everyone that wants to play, teams will be formed. Each team needs to pick a captain for their team. The challenge will begin 4th January 2013 and the game will run for 8 weeks.
