Question about the cover...Does a shirtless man in the cover count for cover points? The guy the women are cheating has no shirt.
Also, women in their bra? Fire? Smoke in the cover?
CaroB wrote: "Yes to fire, no to smoke and shirtless man. Yes to woman in black underwear"no other colored underwear?
Would somebody that is running (from her past, from pain, from bad guys, etc.) count as plot? From lyrics:I just gotta let it go,
I, should've known
I gotta learn to say goodbye now
I throw my armour down,
And leave the battleground
For the final time now,
I, I know.
I'm running from a warzone
Jennifer♔Princess Penguin♔ wrote: "What would the setting be besides 2011?"A battleground or warzone.
Midu wrote: ""dead inside" zombies? vampires?"haunting me" ghosts?"
No to zombies, vampires, yes to ghosts.
ETA: A person who lives in a haunted house would work for plot.
D.G. ~Shameless Hussy~ wrote: "Does revenge count for plot? From lyrics:
I'm gonna make sure, you regret that night"
Yes to revenge, as for "running away from past" I'll let another mod weigh in on that one.
Ooh haunted house and ghosts is very doable. Would a haunted looking house or ghost on the cover get cover points?
Does fighting count for plot? (obviously if it's sustained fighting...not just a fight here and there.)From lyrics:
You're the reason that we started this fight
And also, all the allusions to warzone and battleground.
Does two guys and a woman work in the cover? Also, I don't know if the business of different color underwear was answered. One of the ladies has a pink bra and I think I saw another with green panties.
OK I want to clarify the haunted house/ghost thing. If the main character sees/talks to ghosts, does this count as plot? Would it also get setting points for it being in a haunted place? Does it technically have to be a house or can it be a hotel, castle, cemetary etc.., as long as a large part of hte book takes place there?
This is the one I am thinking about and would like to see if I am right on the points:
5 for Characters named Tom and Nate
3 for plot-heroine sees/talks to ghosts and helps solve their murders
6 for setting-set in haunted cemetary, main character is haunted by ghosts
1 word (did Amazon Search for "performance")
15 points
I think haunted house counted for plot only, Mary. I think it's a bit too far from the intent of the song to count as setting. But those are my thoughts. :) Let's wait for the mods to give their take!
Guys, am tired and fuzzy, apologies in advance if I answer soemthing twice, and let me know if I miss one:Love triangle = no.
Nathaniel = no, but if he gets called Nathan at all in the book, I'll accept that.
Yes to revenge.
No to running away from the past.
Yes to haunted house or abandoned building for cover points.
D.G. What do you mean by sustained fighting? Between two people?
No to two guys and a girl for cover points.
Mary, a character talking to ghosts... yes, I would take that for plot. But haunted house/building doesn't count as setting, only for plot and cover. Yes it can be any type of building, but has to be a big enoug part of the plot that it's easily identified in the synopsis of the book.
Mary wrote: "This is the one I am thinking about and would like to see if I am right on the points:

Name: Tom= yes, Nate=no
Plot: haunted house / ghosts = yes
Setting: haunted house = no
word: performance = yes
9 points.
I knew I wouldn't get points for both Nate and Tom. I still don't know what does count for setting beside the year.
Mary wrote: "I still don't know what does count for setting beside the year."Setting: battle ground / warzone; a book written or set in 2011.
CaroB wrote: "D.G. What do you mean by sustained fighting? Between two people? "I mean that if the guy has to fight a lot of people throughout the book. Sometimes in romantic suspense you have a guy protecting the woman because the evil guys are out to get her, and of course, the evil guys keep finding them and the hero has to fight them and stuff. So no one fight, but having the hero 'battling' the bad guys.

Yep, DG, that would work for plot, doesn't really count for setting though.

Someone had mentioned ghost for plot and I thought you said yes to that and what about Wanted for title points (I remember during "Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men" you allowed Monster and Men)?
Hi Jennifer, yes ghosts are allowed as a plot point as well. I'll edit that to the cheat sheet. As for title... When we allowed the Monsters and Men for the title in Little Talks, we had a lot of people complain, and rightly so. We had changed the rules specifically for that week, and the only reason we did that was because we thought it would be quite hard to find name links to the Scandinavian names.
This wee, the names are more common, should be easier to find, and ultimately give you more points than Wanted will for title.
Hope that clears it up a bit more...

Thanks, that clears things up. Of Monsters and Men was the first week I played and was really overwhelmed so I didn't catch that.
What about this for plot points? The series is the Sentinel Wars....they're in the middle of a long war, and I feel certain there will be some type of battles going on. Not your typical war zone since it takes place in modern day where the paranormal is a secret, so will it count?
Definitely counts for plot points and title points, also from looking at it, counts for cover points as he's dressed all in black.
Can we get confirmation on the names for this week's song? There are only two members in Savage Garden... Darren Hayes, Daniel Jones...can we use only first names like last week or are last names OK too?
Also...can Paris count as a setting? The video with the girl and guy walking around in the City is set in Paris - I saw some landmarks and Wikipedia confirms it.
D.G. ~Shameless Hussy~ wrote: "Can we get confirmation on the names for this week's song? There are only two members in Savage Garden... Darren Hayes, Daniel Jones...can we use only first names like last week or are last names ..."both first and last names can be used
