Gea (gea89) | 412 comments Title: Anything that has the words TALK, MONSTERS, or MEN in it.

Why doesn't LITTLE count? :/

I don't understand either why we are changing the rules for that when we've been so strict in previous weeks with the names in the title. The title of the song is clearly 'Little Talks' and there are plenty of books that have either word. It makes sense to me to allow some room with the name of the band because obviously it will be difficult to find somebody called 'Monsters' or 'Men' but the title of the song is very clear.

Gea (gea89) | 412 comments Can the word from title be in name of series? And could a surname that finishes with -SON count (for example Thea Harrison) ?

message 906: by Alley (new)

Alley (alleycatfish) Would a zombie on the cover count as a monster?

No worries, sounds like you have your hands full right now.

Thanks for coming in and answer our questions, Susan.

D.G. Here's a book I'm sure all of you would want to read!

Kris Jenner . . . And All Things Kardashian by Kris Jenner

It has setting, name and possibly plot AND cover.

I'm SURE all those Kardashians are fighting some kind of psychosis and I think that Kris Jenner qualifies as a monster. ;)

message 909: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 752 comments OK does this qualify for plot:

Heroine has to go and steal a coin from a dragon (hero=shapeshifter) to appease bad guys (Dark-Fae)of book. Does that count as a quest?

message 910: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 1693 comments would Those Who Fight Monsters Tales of Occult Detectives by Justin Gustainis work? all the stories would be about monsters?

message 911: by Jennifer H (last edited Feb 01, 2013 01:51PM) (new)

Jennifer H I know this is not listed but would "gold lips" on the cover work since that fairy-like girl in the video has gold lips?

An would extreme paranoia of phobias be a psychosis?

message 912: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 458 comments It's not on the cheat sheet but I thought I'd ask. For plot, what about someone who talks to ghosts/the dead?

I've never heard the song (and I'm at work so no video for me just now) but the lyrics made me think of that.

message 913: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Some more questions:
Would a king searching for his future queen be a quest?

Would vicious killer pixies be monsters?

message 915: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Would skeletons on the cover count as bodies?

message 916: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Hi ladies, I spent half an hour late last night trying to get onto Goodreads before giving up and going to bed. I'm going back now through this thread and answering any outstanding questions.

message 918: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments LITTLE was supposed to be included in the title words. Sorry. Anyone who has that in the title can claim a point.

Yes for the series-title connection. I'm not sure about the name.

Yes I'd say the journey Pia and Dragos take to get home would be a quest as well.

Not sure about the video connection, I'll let CaroB answer that part, but yes to the paranoia/phobia

message 928: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Jeniffer, sorry to be a pain, but I'm on my phone and don't have post numbers, can you repeat the question please?

message 929: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Ah, thanks Susan, I know which question it is now. Gold lips won't count for a cover point. It want a significant party of the video or lyrics, but rather just what she looked liked.

message 931: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Lauren, yes, I will take skeletons for bodies on the cover AS LONG AS it is the whole skeleton and not just random bone parts.

message 932: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Karen F: I've been listening to the song quite a bit in the last couple of days, I completely agree with your take. I would take someone who talks to the dead/ghosts for a plot connection. Just link to this post in your review. Great thinking outside the square!!

message 933: by Dami (new)

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I was wondering what's considered the 'source of truth' for publication date.

I'm considering reading Creating Monsters by Christopher Rankin but Goodreads has no publication date listed. The Kindle store shows it as published in 2012 but the ebook file itself shows copyright as 2011.

It's no drama if it's easier for me to avoid this one (due to conflicting info) as I've got a fallback or two. Just that this one sounded more interesting.

message 934: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Thanks CaroB, it is definitely whole skeletons.

How about the main character becoming undead? Would that work for plot. She is also on a quest involving those who made her undead.

message 935: by Jennifer H (last edited Feb 01, 2013 03:20PM) (new)

Jennifer H If your book has all 3 plots can you claim 9 points or can you only claim 1 plot for 3 points?

Where there isn't a pub date on Goodreads, I would go with the Amazon one. Sorry hun.

Lina | 5563 comments Jennifer♔Princess Penguin♔ wrote: "If your book has all 3 plots can you claim 9 points or can you only claim 1 plot for 3 points?"

Keep the questions coming Jennifer, we're here to help. You can claim more than one link category, eg Plot + Cover + Setting etc, but you can only claim once for each category. The maximum number of points this would give you is 21 for song links.

message 938: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Judy wrote: "I think my question may have been overlooked - Would an investigator trying to find a criminal count as a quest for plot points? Thanks!"

So sorry Judy! That's a tough one... I would say not, but... if it's a serial killer that the investogator has been chasing for years, making it a bit of a life mission, then I guess it could apply. If this is a one case scenario, I don't think that classifies as a quest.

Lina | 5563 comments Lauren wrote: "Thanks CaroB, it is definitely whole skeletons.

I would take the quest, if she's making it her life mission... but not too sure on the undead... could it count as a humans vs monsters plot point? You only need one plot link, after all.

message 942: by Lina (new)
