Hmmmmm..... let me get back to you, Miss Midu. There are horses running...but otherwise I'd have to check with my fellow elves.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments ANNOUNCEMENT It would be most appreciated that if you are using an alternative book cover to get points for "cover" to please make sure you link that one to your review so that the Bouncers don't have to go searching to see why you're claiming points. Thank you!!

Great thanks, Mr. Elf! I didn't know we could get points for alternate covers!!

Elishia | 2620 comments I have a question about the word. Does it have to be exact? I have shimmied but not sure if I can use it.

message 658: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Elishia, I would say yes to that.

message 659: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments I'm with Susan. Shimmied, shimmying or shimmy would all work.

No. That book does count for plot points, not for cover points.

message 661: by Dami (new)

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I wanted to check whether a Western romance which has most of the action set in the town (which is a Western small town) rather than on the ranch itself would count towards Setting points.

no drama if it doesn't - just wanted to check

Mary, what's the link to the song? Just double-checked the lyrics, but they don't mention a road. Sorry, just wondering if I'm missing something?

Damiellar, thanks for clarifying. If most of the action is set in the town, then no, it wont count as setting, sorry :-( I got your hopes up for no reason.

message 664: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 752 comments I picked a different book anyway but I thought I saw a road trip as a link and well there's a road on the cover. But I'm reading something else.

message 666: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) The hero and heroine in my book travel to France to rescue the heroine's betrothed (she is a loyal friend to him).
Would this count toward the plot?

message 667: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Mary wrote: "I picked a different book anyway but I thought I saw a road trip as a link and well there's a road on the cover. But I'm reading something else."

You're completely right, under setting it says road trip. I took that to mean a story where the setting was a travelling by car kind of thing, long hours travelling from point A to point B, rather than literally travelling by any road. No wonder there was confusion, lol. I might ask Nick to clarify.

message 668: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Mary, just double checked. This was the decision.

"A book where the characters spend a large chunk of the time travelling from one place to another, fits the setting. But road on its own doesn't really link to the song, so a road on the cover wont get any points."

I know you've changed your book choice, just wanted to clarify.

Just checked for you Lauren, I'm unclear whether the travelling that's taking place is taking place for most of the book or just a few scenes / chapters.
I think it would count for plot, not for setting, but if you find that they do spend a lot of time travelling in the story, let me know and we can amend. Alternatively, if anyone else has already read the book, can you clarify?

~Megan~ (megadee) I am wondering if there are any cover points for this:

Just Good Friends (Escape to New Zealand, #2) by Rosalind James

It's not a whole beach scene, but there's beach stuff. And would the plural friends count for title, or does it have to be singular?

message 671: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Thanks CaroB.
It is only a few chapters so I think it works for plot not setting, right?

message 672: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Megan, I think the covert us still evocative of summer, so it would get you cover points. The title can be plural for friend, so that would work for title points also.

message 673: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Sorry am on phone. That was meant to say the cover is still evocative of summer.

message 674: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Yep, Lauren, that would count for plot.

message 675: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Thanks CaroB. Writing my review now.

message 676: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) One last question:
There are several scenes set in a garden at a country estate and in a cabin in the woods - would this count for setting?

message 677: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) Yay! Thank you!

message 678: by Phoenix (Online Elf), Moderator (new)

Phoenix (Online Elf) | 4358 comments Miss Lauren, I'm sorry, no. Several scenes don't make up the majority of the book.

Lina | 5563 comments Ab2y wrote: "Just asking (don't hate) , so last time the same team members can't read the same book , can we do that now ?"

Sure, Ab2y! As long as it links to the song and is more than 150 pages, you can read what you like, even if someone in your team is also reading it. No problem.

message 682: by Vi (new)

Vi Did we have that last time? I can't remember. There were no such restrictions except that it links to song and pages last time, were they?

message 683: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 752 comments I don't remember there being that restriction the last time either.

message 684: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) For the little I played last time, as I was a filler, I don't think that was a restriction.

Obsidian - part of the lux trilogy!

Points for dark cover and plot points for MC being welcomed to new community and MC helping out a friend?

Will that do?

Yes Karen. That book will get you cover and plot points = 6 points altogether. Sounds like a fascinating read!

No issues CaroB ! I know you have just got a new job !how is it going btw?

message 694: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments It's fantastic! I can't actually believe I'm this excited about a new job, lol, but the people I'm working with seem really lovely, great vibe to the place and I like the role I've been employed for. It's six weeks full time and then I go to three days a week, so that will be ideal for family time, but right now my head is feeling very full with all the new stuff I'm learning :-)... Hope I'm still feeling like this in two months time!

message 696: by Vi (new)

Vi To the awesome mods: I was doing the pts calculation and mine doesn't tally with yours. I then noticed this: Judy read Charity Girl which we calculated to be worth 9 points. But in the spreadsheet, it's noted as 10. Did we calculate wrong? If so where did the additional point come from?

message 697: by Vi (new)

Vi CaroB, I'm glad the job is working out super for you. I always love the initial few months when everything seems so new. I'm glad you are enjoying it too.
