Looking for Alaska
question
What did you guy's think about this book? Do you think it could be turned into a great movie?
I think this book was alright, not the best, not the worst. Just in between. But I definitely do NOT think this will be a good movie.
If I could, and I WILL try to, even though there is a 99.99% that it will stay fan-fiction, I would write the movie. They may be making making movies for other John Green books as well.
This book, for me, was really predictable. The middle when she died should have been the end, and the way it carried on after Alaska's death was really dry and boring and served no purpose for the plot. I disliked the main character sometimes, and I disliked Alaska sometimes, and I really kind of disliked all of them sometimes. But after she passed away and he tries to figure out how it happened, my interest was lost.

I totally agree with this statement. I haven't read any other books by John Green, but this one was extremely predictable, boring, and with unlikeable

There was initial interest in making a movie but the studio lost interest. It would be difficult to make a movie true to the book. Novel endings are frequently changed to make it a more uplifting experience for the viewer which would be a travesty for Looking for Alaska (aside from the fact that John Green would not allow it).

I loved this book. I thought it was a good read. But I think it is a story that should remain on the page and not something translated to the screen.
I think, if it becomes into a movie. Only does who have read it and those who are interested in teen flicks might watch.

This was such a lovely and beautiful and it would be very difficult to portray the language used through a movie, and would perhaps dull the book.
If it were well made I think it could be an excellent film. If you're going on the visual aspects alone, I don't quite think it would cut it, but otherwise I think if the script and dialog were well written I think it could be just as good.
I loved the book. I reread it on January 11th of this year, not realizing at the time that January 10th was the day Alaska died. But after remembering as I read the book, I saw so much more in it than I had when I read it the first time.
I'm not sure if I'm too keen on the idea of making this into a movie, though. A lot of the meaning and core message of the book is conveyed through Pudge's thoughts, and it's hard to bring that out in a movie. Plus, no girl can be as hot as Alaska, so that's settled.

I really enjoyed this book, it has a strong message and it helps with loss, although as much as I love John, it wouldn't be a good movie, since most of the information is givin through Miles/Pudge's thoughts.
