It's Tie, clothing category this week. I'm fixing to check with Dawn & see if it has to be an actual tie or if the word in another context is ok.
Awesome! I'm going to be reading Lover Unleashed by J.R. Ward but I won't be able to start it until Monday.
Oh yeah just to make sure everyone understands, since the item of the week is from the clothing category you can only claim 1 item from each of the other three categories.
Ok so this is what Dawn said about ties:It needs to be the article of clothing tie. I suppose Men's necktie would be what I envisioned but I would take cravat or one of those womens scarves pinned or knotted around the neck (not sure if they have a name).
Bow tie, clip on, bolo tie will all work too.
My book a has bow tie in it. I've only read the first 2 books in that series I like them a lot but the really remind me of the Stephanie Plum series with a paranormal twist.
This is where I'll keep track of this week's status (also will be on page 1)Tie Week:
Melanie: The Irresistible Earl Claimed Tie, sunshine, shoulder, & musical instrument 12/2/12Post 85
Jenne : Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet: Claimed Tie, Moonlight, Bones, Bike 12/5/12 Post 104
Jennifer: Lover Unleashed: Claimed Tie, Rainbow, Curly Hair, Bike 12/5/12Post 101
Sam : The Graveyard BookClaimed Tie, Moonlight, Bone, & Emergency Vehicle 12/1/12 Post 80
No there's not and early on there isn't a crucial rush now towards the end all of that goes out the window. Last round each team had one or two players on the last call. All of us finished our books that same day it was called. We have some lightning fast readers in this game.
Good to know - thanks! I'll try to finish my books as fast as I can even though there isn't a time limit. :)
The way it's going I should finish my book pretty quickly! Luckily it's a nice quiet day at work, so I've gotten quite a bit done already, and I've already found my four items :)
Read almost 50 pages of The Irresistible Earl - it's really good! I still need to find items for weather and misc. For body parts I found shoulder, nose, eyes, and elbow. Any preference on which one I should claim?
I'd pick the ones you feel are more difficult to come by. I usually try to do that and ill also see what everyone else is claiming too. The first couple of weeks or so are pretty easy. Rainbow is the one I'm sweating this round.
Lover Unleashed gives me both rainbow and curly hair. I just have to decide whether to pick musical instrument or emergency vehicle for misc.
Actually now that I look at it the book has everything but bra and that's kinda weird considering what the type of book it is.
Finished my book! :)The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman
Finished: Dec. 1st, 2012
Rating: 4/5
I love Neil Gaiman's novels, and this one is no exception. It has just the right combination of darkness and sweetness. Nobody Owens (Bod for short) is raised in a graveyard after his family is killed by a mysterious man when he's a toddler. The novel follows him as he grows up with his adoptive parents (a ghost couple) in the graveyard, the only place where he is safe from the man who killed his family. The way the story reads is part novel, part interconnected short stories. Each chapter is from a different time in Bod's life, usually at about 2-year intervals. There are ghouls, witches, werewolves, vampires, schoolyard bullies and everything in between. I found myself completely engrossed and eager to follow Bod on all of his adventures. I really enjoyed this book, but be warned: once you pick it up, you won't want to put it down!
Items to claim:
Tie: "She wore a bulky mackintosh and a man's tie around her neck." (pg. 66)
Moonlight: "The moonlight was enough." (pg. 9)
Bone: "My bones are here." (pg. 28)
Emergency vehicle: "...first a police car, then an ambulance..." (pg. 33)

Awesome Sam! And I totally agree with your review. I like how you described it as dark and sweet that is a perfect fit.
Week one - TieI read:
The Irresistible Earl by Regina ScottFinished 12/2/2012
Rating: 4 stars
My review:
The Irresistible Earl is the fourth book I've read by Regina Scott and I really enjoyed it! I really liked the characters and loved seeing them grow. One character in particular surprised me as I had misjudged him and what kind of man he was - I was pleased to find out I was wrong and he was actually a great guy. :)
A little bit of The Irresistible Earl reminded me of Cinderella - Meredee's father had remarried giving her a stepmother and stepbrother. Later, her father dies and Meredee sort of has to serve her stepmother - who isn't evil or anything, just needy.
The romance was very sweet and made The Irresistible Earl even more enjoyable to read. Sir Trevor Fitzwilliam was introduced in this book and I look forward to reading An Honorable Gentleman (Trevor's story) as soon as I can. I recommend The Irresistible Earl if you enjoy historical romance. :)
*I received this book as a gift from the author. I did not have to write a review, but chose to - all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
Items claimed:
Tie: "A tall fellow with an impossibly red coat and purple trousers stepped into the clearing, his cravat tied in a complicated fold." Page 103
Sunshine: "She scanned the area, eyes narrowed against the summer sun." Page 7
Shoulder: "Meredee wrapped her arms around the girl, and Lady Phoebe lay her head on her shoulder." Page 183
Musical Instrument: "...Phoebe was playing at the spinet..." Page 63
Nicely done Melanie! Pretty cool, you received it as a gift from the author. How did that come about? I've met Nora Roberts and Laurell K Hamilton, but they didn't give me a book I had to pay for it...lol
Thanks, Jennifer and Jenne! I had won a giveaway/contest for one of her books, but instead of only sending one of her books she included a second one as a gift and asked if I'd like her newest one (at the time) to review (The Rogue's Reform). It was really nice of her and totally unexpected. :)
Just checking in to let you know I started my book...I should have it done fairly quick...I like this series :)
I think I'm getting ahead of myself. I keep finding items that we'll need in other books and thinking "darn, I should have waited to read this one!" lol.
I'm 1/4 of the way in my book. I should have it done tomorrow or Wednesday. It's so funny it has me LMAO. On one part she had to go to some mansion and they had a call box at the gate. The butler said yes and she asked him if she could have a taco with extra hot sauce. I swear the Charley Davidson books are the funniest thing I have ever read!

You don't notice how frequently these items are in books until you are looking for them.

The comments at the start of the chapters are great too! One of them said welcome back I see the assassins have failed.
