'Well one must exercise restraint when it comes to obscenely handsome men, or one might find themselves in quite some trouble' says Kaiden still smirking.
Jess smiled. "You should write a book about it," she said. "A best seller, it'd be."
'I do believe i will, and then you can have the pleasure of picking it up off of the and tyding it away after the shadowhunters i write about leave it on the floor' says Kaiden.
Jess laughed, then frowned. "There is a book shoved in a plant," she said. "Honestly, the table isn't that hard to get to." She walked over to go get it.
Kaiden laughs and says 'Well i dont know Jess, that is quite treacherous few feet'.
Kaiden nods 'I don't know if i could manage it' he says.
Jess pulled out the book and read the title. "The Influence of Mundanes in Today's Society," she read.
'Mundanes' says Kaiden distastefully 'i have never liked that word'.
'We are NOT dull at all, we are simply likely to throw ourselves at a demon without thinking about it first' says Kaiden thinking of the number of times he had witnessed Master Peter and Master Damon run after and jump on a demon with very little forethought.
Jess put the book on the shelf and shrugged. "I'll take it over 'mundie' any day."
'I'd take my name' says Kaiden with an arched eyebrow.
"Don't worry, Kaiden," Jess says. "I'll call you by your real name."
'Thankyou very much Jess' says Kaiden with a slight smile.
"All out of books," Jess says, shaking her head in mock tragedy. "Looks like I've finished my last chore of the night. Darn."
'What are you going to do now then Jess?' asks Kaiden genuinely.
Jess shrugged. "I really dunno. I don't usually finish this early," she said.
"Must be because nearly everyone is out."
'Ah yes but what state will they all come back in, that is the question' says Kaiden with a sigh.
"Peter will be drunk, Damon will be depressed, America will be bubbly, and Xavier will be witty," Jess predicted.
'Witty?, ah don't tell me you have a soft spot for Mr scary beautiful and mysterious' says Kaiden with another smirk.
Kaiden arches an eyebrow 'If you say so Jess' he says.
Kaiden laughs at her expression 'ok Jess' he says.
Jess stood up and pushed a lock of hair out of her eyes. "Don't laugh at me," she said.
Kaiden holds his hands up in surrender 'I never meant to offend Jess, why are you getting so worked up over it?' he says.
"Do you like it when people laugh at you?" she asked, cocking her head.
'It has never much bothered me as most of the time i laugh with them' he says.
'Of course, why wouldn't i' says Kaiden.
Jess shrugged. "I dunno. Just doesn't seem like something a lot of people do."
'People with no sense of humour maybe' replies Kaiden with a small smile.
"Do you like it here?" Jess asked suddenly. "At the Institute, I mean."
Kaiden thinks about her question seriously, 'i suppose i do, it is much better than most places' he says finally.
Jess looked at him. "Don't you ever think about not being able to see everything?" she asked. "Not living like an average person?"
Kaiden smiles wickedly and says 'Who says i live like an average person, do you have any idea how times i've had to help Damon, Peter and Xavier when they do reckless things, i might as well be a bloody shadowhunter for the amount of times i've had to fight demons', Kaiden rolls his eyes.
"Let me know when a rune won't kill you."
'As if i need fancy tattoo's' he winks jokingly.
'Well considering im not a shadowhunter it probably would hurt quite a lot' he says.
Jess rolled her eyes. "I meant getting a fancy tattoo wouldn't hurt your appearance," she clarified. "And you're right. I gather a rune would hurt."
'My aprearence, what are you trying to say, i admit i may not be an angel' he says smiling.
"Just that you don't look like a Shadowhunter at all," she said. "You look a lot less... I dunno. Angry?"
Kaiden laughs at that 'I have no idea what to make of that, most shadowhunters have the dark past horrible secret look yes i agree'.
"Come one," Jess said smiling. "Who doesn't want to look forever tormented?"
