Sati Marie Frost (starlight_crystal) | 8 comments Usually I don't have a problem when an ISBN has been previously used, and just create a new profile, but this one stumped me and I may have messed up.

ISBN has been used for two books - this book (The Baby-Sitter IV by R.L. Stine) and this book (Help! I Have To Give A Speech! A+ Junior Guide To Giving A Speech by Louise Colligan). The Colligan book is listed on Goodreads with a different ISBN, but both the ISBN searches I tried claimed that this ISBN (0590137093) belongs to the Colligan book.

The book profile that came up when I scanned my copy of the R.L. Stine book listed the book as "The Babysitter IV by Louise Colligan" (as far as I can tell, no such book exists) but was combined with Stine's "The Babysitter IV" (the correct book). When I entered the data in isbnsearch.org, it brought up the Colligan book. When I entered the data in isbndb.com it brought up the Colligan title but with the Stine description. I'm not sure what other site I can use to try to find the Stine book with this ISBN.

Since the profile I scanned was already combined with the Stine book, and since I had the Stine book in front of me, I simply edited the author to read R.L. Stine and left the Colligan book profile - which is listed on here with a different ISBN anyway - alone. (I'm not familiar with that author and don't have the book to reference.) This seemed like the simplest solution, but I'm not quite sure if it's in keeping with protocol.

Darn UK editions.
