ABOUT THE BOOK
Growing up in Long Beach, California, L is a positive hard working young man desperate to escape the trappings of violent life in the Hood. He is guided only by his strong sense of self and the need to provide a better life for his daughter. L shares powerful childhood bonds with his three best friends, C -ex-military/gangsta, E -hustler/activist and B -a promising young rapper. L is constantly at odds with the world in which he finds himself. But in a neighborhood dominated by gangs, drugs, alcohol, automatic weapons and self-created obstacles there are no guarantees, especially when it comes to making it out alive.
EveryDay Life relays powerful messages about life, death and all things in-between in urban America and forces people to look at issues that are all too easy to ignore from urban sprawl, race relations to sex and politics. EveryDay Life is based around a series of actual events and circumstances from the author’s own young adult life. EveryDay Life is an unexpected mixture of moralism, drama, philosophy, and fresh perspective. And though crafted with thoughtful passion the presentation of race relations, drug usage, promiscuity, politics, or even a father’s responsibility is not softened. This unique work of literature holds no punches while delivering an extremely humorous story. Every movement and every word is purposefully constructed in EveryDay Life. It is far from just a story about a selected African American community in Los Angeles, it’s about all of us and what we choose as our life.

SAMPLE REVIEWS
"While the guys were hanging around smoking dope and talking, they taught me more than I could ever imagine." — Reader Views

"Forget what you have been told. If you really want to know what a man thinks or would do in a situation that is presented to him, you have to read this book." — C.A. Webb

"Hardie is hard core when it comes to telling it like it is. Not only does he speak from the African American point of view, he makes sure he tells it how we see it. Each page is filled with truth, passion, and reality." — African Americans on the Move

"EveryDay Life maybe the funniest book ever written” — HYPE Magazine Radio

I loved how you mixed humor with very savvy socio-political messages." — Professor of Hip Hop Discourse

It takes a lot of courage to write a book like this." — Life Remixed Radio

"EveryDay Life delves into uncharted territories" — APOOO Book Club

It takes just two or so pages to prove to yourself that what Hardie has managed to do is not only unorthodox, unexpected but borderline brilliance!” — Conversations Book Club

I only recently had the pleasure of reading EveryDay Life cover to cover. The characters are vivid, especially L. I get a clear sense of the fine line he walks: his cynicism about the powers that be delicately balanced with his desire for bigger and better things and his love for and commitment to his daughter. Hardie has a great ear for dialogue. The “talk” rings true and he manages to capture the energy, poetry, and wit of the urban subculture.” — Professor of African American Studies

Amongst the seriousness of their discussion, they also found humor in it as well. It was an era when hip-hop was the best thing since Martin Luther King-and marijuana was the best way to cope with problems, the hype of the music industry, and the pitfalls of possibilities.” — Ghostwriter Literary Reviews

Every Day Life provides the reader with a realistic look into the lives of four men in the 90's. The social, political, and familial issues that are discussed between the characters are on point” — Apex Reviews

I don't know if I will win this category is full of great books. Being selected a finalist is an honor within itself. If it is hard to believe that a book with endearing friendships, psychology, philosophy, race discussions, social themes, and politics can still be funny... you better ask somebody.

Robin (robinsullivan) | 997 comments I recognize this format ;-) -- Now just add some hyperlinks to it as well.

I'm glad to see other authors taking more care when posting their "promotion" posting - I get so tired of seeing a one line - this is my book and a link.

Also good to see you contributing to the group M.G.
