I saw this link in one of my other groups and thought it was cute.

Melissa I am mostly the All the timer/compulsive/voracious/anything goes reader that is talked about in the addendum link at the bottom.

I also am The hate reader, bookophile, cross under, multi tasker, the hpelessly devoted and the rereader!

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments A combo of Book Buster and Bookophile, I guess.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments Nice article Melissa. I am first and foremost a Bookophile even though I have a kindle I still much prefer the paper book. I love the smell of books, the cover art, displaying series (all in the same medium) proudly on my bookshelves, thinking about books and checking websites for when the next book in a series is out and pre-ordering. All in all a bookoholic... like most of us on these forums are.

One habit I've got which I would love to break is that once I start a book.... I must finish it even if I hate, find it tedious, boring etc. Admittedly I do skip sometimes but to just put a book aside and not finish it I just can't do it. I drive myself mad, LOL.

Melissa Lisa- I'm really bad about having to finish a book even when I don't like it.

I think I have 2 books listed as couldn't finish, but there are several of them that I made myself finish but wished I had just let them go!

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I used to have that "problem" of having to finish a book no matter what. But I finally talked myself into putting down books that I felt weren't worth the trouble. Life's too short to read a bad book when I got so many more to read. ☺

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments Well I've made the first shift of abandoning series if I really don't like them. Next in the program is to stop reading mid book.... I just wish I could, Pamela. What you said makes perfect sense, after all!

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Lisa, it's not an easy thing to do ☺

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Loved the article, Melissa! It was interesting to look at myself and see a different type of reader at different times in my life. Very insightful. I've certainly been "The Hopelessly Devoted" reader, but I've learned the hard way that I can OD on an author, so now I try and pace myself; really hard when I find an author I LOVE.

I've been on a big "The Audiobook Listener" kick with my house remodel b/c for the first time in my life I fall asleep upon first cracking a book when I crawl into bed...I'm that exhausted. So, listening to a book on my iPod/Touch worked out great for me the last five months. Plus, I could shut the workmen out. LOL!

Joeera | 128 comments I love buying books expecialy if i'am attracted to the cover. If i love the first in the series i wil try and get the rest of the books.Usualy for new books i'll go to chapters.Old books i will by from thrift stores i never buy any books on line. The thing with me is that I will try reading anything but, by the second chapter it doesn't catch my intrest i will stop reading it and forget about it.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I'm a big book cover ho, much to my chagrin. Doesn't always work out. LOL! I try to stick to reading series in order, but I'm not a BIG stickler about it. I usually give a book about 100 pages to interest me, before I let it go.

message 12: by Giulia (new)

Giulia | 1756 comments Great article! I'm a combination of the bookophile and multi tasker. I also have a problem to just saying no if I see books in stores. I do it, but it's very hard.

Jane | 2 comments The "It's Complicated" Reader, here I am! But to find this type, you'd have to read the other article ( http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entert... ) The spookiest part, though was about my star sign which is Pisces as mentioned in the article as well :D

Penelope Marzec (penelopemarzec) | 10 comments I think I am a combination--a Chronological Reader, a Multi-Tasker, and a Bookophile--if that's possible. I suppose I have my own style. It is a rare book I don't finish because I always like to give the author the benefit of the doubt.

My to-be-read pile grows taller all the time.

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) | 2010 comments As much as I hate to admit it, I'm a Delayed Onset Reader #1. Sometimes I wish I had the flu so I could stay home and read.

message 16: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Yea I'm in the It's Complicated reader group. I recognize myself in some of the categories.

message 17: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Oh, I'm definitely "It's Complicated." LOL!

message 18: by Trish (new)

Trish (taclaussen) | 400 comments OMG - There's an official name for my malady!!! I am ABSOLUTELY a Chronological reader. I have at least a dozen Victoria Alexander paperbacks just waiting to be read - - but I'm missing the next in the series and can't bring myself to read any others!

I have been reading Kristan Higgins since the beginning, and while I like her earlier works - she wrote in the first person and it was so unique and fun!! - she's kind of "meh" for me now, because she's writing 3rd person. Will I stop buying her books? Hell no! Why? Because I'm a Chronological Reader - with maybe a touch of Hopelessly Devoted on the side.

message 19: by Rosanna (new)

Rosanna Leo (rosanna_leo) Definitely a Chronological reader in my case. Don't like to start one unless the previous one is done, dissected and the emotions are discarded. LOL
