Marsha (queenboadicea) | 95 comments I read this only yesterday and I've forgotten the title and author. My memory is going. It's probably the beginning of Alzheimer's although I don't want to think that.

Where was I?

Oh yes. I read this book and it was very interesting. It was a graphic novel about a red-headed hussar who fell in love with the water nymph Nimue. She gave him a magical drink that made him very sick but then made him unnaturally tireless, strong and able to recover from terrible wounds that would kill a normal human being.

He has a magical sword that he uses to open a stone gateway (like Stonehenge only smaller). It was built by the faery folk to open the gateway between the human world and the fae world and the Fair Folk have been waiting centuries to return to their world.

The young man opens the portal and is swept into fairyland along with all the other denizens. While they're happy to return, he feels out of place in their land of perpetual laziness and pleasure and is moping for his lost Nimue. His sullenness makes him boring to the Fae, who much prefer to play with humans than form any lasting ties with them.

He returns to the mortal world to find Nimue. But times have changed. Although he's spent only two days in the land of the fae, for each of those days, a century has passed in the mortal world. It's now 2012. His Nimue doesn't recognize him, the Tenebrae (dark creatures like vampires, werewolves, etc.) are trying to force him to open the gate again and, in the fight to stop them, Nimue is mortally wounded.

So there it is. I've tried using search engines with the words "fairies" "sword" "Nimue" "Tenebrae" but have had no luck. Can anyone help me with title and author?

Bingo! Man, that was quick. I tried using the search engines mentioned by others (Google actually gave me a link that brought me back to my own question!) but you actually got it. Thank you so much!

I want to shelve this book. Would you classify this book as adult or young adult?
