Has anyone read Sclair's 'Max and the Cats'? I have read reviews that Martel based 'Pi' on this author's book and thus stole the idea. Any truth to this?

I haven't read it, but I've read somewhere that Martel has admitted in interview that he was partly inspired by that book.
