Finished! Really good so far!
I think Palmer is my favorite character so far. I love how he came back for them - I wasn't really expecting it. :)

I don't know about you but I think this would make a great movie!
I was (strangely enough) really curious to find out what Meredith said that made the woman give her her baby.
Were you surprised when Pastor Ron was killed? I kinda thought he might be the first to die so I guess I wasn't really surprised by it.
Mendoza is so evil it's ridiculous! How you can just order people killed without a second thought is beyond me.
I thought the scene where they are being taken to the killing wall was really cool. How Will began to see everybody differently. I wish we could have that mindset every day!
Nicki is annoying me - I understand her being upset, but it's a little too much (in my opinion). I was mostly fine with Jim until he got Pastor Ron to go talk to Mendoza...
Meredith seems like she always knows what to say... I'd like to know what she said to make the woman give up her child, too.
I was kind of surprised that Pastor Ron got killed, but once he left to go talk to that guy, it was pretty much a given. :(
I loved the scene with the snake! Especially how we find out Meredith is afraid of them - it made her character more realistic. :)

Mendoza is really evil! I think Palmer got it right when he said Mendoza's not much better than a psycho killer (page 80).
I agree - that scene with the killing wall was really cool. It was interesting how Will didn't even hate the gunmen, but kind of liked them...
I loved the scene where they are all escaping via the van. It was funny how Will purposely kept shooting above the people's heads. :) I feel bad for him, though, because he had to shoot that one man (can you believe he actually hit him?).

The van scene was pretty awesome and yeah Will shooting above their heads was cool. I liked the fact that it did take him awhile to actually choose to shoot the one guy and he wasn't just calloused to it! I actually wasn't shocked he hit him since it was a machine gun and he had played enough video games to figure out how to aim at least a little.
I was so proud of Will for stopping Mendoza from slapping Meredith even though he got a beating for it I was glad he stood up when none of the other men did.
I don't know if I could have held still with a poisonous snake crawling on me but I guess in the circumstance you could probably find it in you to be quiet! And then the spider-yuck!
Yeah, that spider was disgusting!
I wonder how Palmer knows the way through the jungle and that that building was there...

Yeah. It definitely seems like he was prepared and has a plan. :) I loved how he disappeared from that room without anyone seeing. :)

So is there anything else you want to discuss?

If I can get the book finished tonight, we can discuss it tomorrow unless you're going to be busy - otherwise Friday. Sound good?

It took awhile but I was glad when Nicki and Jim finally got their acts together!
Palmer really was an awesome character! He was really gruff but if you looked through the layers he was a great guy!
The breaking out scene was pretty awesome! I was tense and kept holding my breath during it I was that wrapped up in the story!
I really liked how Palmer and Meredith got together at the end of the book - I was kind of hoping that would happen. :)
Wow! That church was really cool! I loved how they were able to hide there.
I was kind of surprised about the reason Meredith was so fearless...

Me too! I was getting really frustrated with Jim and was glad when he finally realized that Mendoza and his gang were not good guys. I loved how Nicki got brave towards the end of the book. :)
Palmer was a great character - my favorite from the book. I especially liked the scene when they were in prison and he said "When they see me on my knees begging for mercy - or begging you for anything - that's when they'll know there's no hope left at all."
And, yes, that breaking out scene was fantastic - so much action!! :)

I was really happy Palmer and Meredith got together they seemed perfect for each other!
The church was awesome! such a great place for a rest! I loved the part where the priest accidentally scares Will!
Yeah Meredith's reason surprised me too but it was cool! And it was cute how Palmer was watching/listening. I love how everything is described in this book!
That was another great line. :)
I loved when Will got scared by the priest (I also liked how just before he had a dream about the skeletons coming alive!).

Those last scenes had SO much action! I was a little anxious about them giving Jim a gun (I still wasn't too sure about his feelings), but I liked how he wanted to cover for them even at the risk of getting injured/killed.

The river scene was crazy! It was amazing how they managed to hang on that long! And Will was awesome when he decided he was gonna sacrifice himself in hopes that the croc/alligator/whatever would have enough and leave Nicki alone. And his reaction when Palmer shoot it was great!
I agree! The river scene was crazy! Will did some quick thinking by using the gun to stop them from going over. :) I liked how he was willing to sacrifice himself in hopes of saving Nicki. :)
I can't think of anything else. This was a fun (and quick) buddy read! :) Do you want to do another buddy read in a couple weeks?
