With the news that Hostess was biting the dust, did you run out and buy as many packages of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, and Suzy Q's as you could fit in the boot of your vehicle?

(It is highly likely that several if not most if not all of the Hostess brands will survive after being bought by other companies, but that is months into the future.)

20 individually wrapped Twinkies on sale at Amazon for $75.00-$400

scherzo♫ (pjreads) Hostess Blames Union for Bankruptcy After Tripling CEO's Pay

... But while headlines have been quick to blame unions for the downfall of the company there’s actually more to the story: While the company was filing for bankruptcy, for the second time, earlier this year, it actually tripled its CEO’s pay, and increased other executives’ compensation by as much as 80 percent.

... as the company was preparing to file for bankruptcy earlier this year, the then CEO of Hostess was awarded a 300 percent raise (from approximately $750,000 to $2,550,000) and at least nine other top executives of the company received massive pay raises. One such executive received a pay increase from $500,000 to $900,000 and another received one taking his salary from $375,000 to $656,256.

I haven't eaten a Twinkie in 25 years, I can wait until the new manufacturer starts churning them out.

Chris (bibliophile85) Can't resist.....

So Twinkies, which were theoretically supposed to survive a nuclear holocaust have been taken down about a month before December 23rd?

....well played Mayans....well played....

Whoa... another MiniAm throwback. Do the newbies around here know the story behind "anort"?

message 14: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I love the "anort" every time I see it. It is a giggle inducer. I do not know the story behind it, though.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

No, they don't know the story. Bet some of the older ones still don't if they were post MiniAm. Susan is just clever.

I have a question to the Pre-TCers around here who started out with us in MiniAm. Why can't I bring myself to delete the group from my list? It's a dead group, nothing is going to be posted in there. It's sad. But, I just can't bring myself to click and get rid of it. Why is that? Do you still have it on your list of groups?

Not only is Hostess now off the shelf, but my ghetto grocery that sold Little Debbie shut down too. WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO GET MY LITTLE DEBBIE?

My ex made doughnuts for a living--that "cream" filling is actually just oil and sugar, whipped until fluffy. Eeurgh.

It's more the taste/texture than knowing what's in it. I don't like any kind of custard either.

Nah....never really liked Twinkies or Ho-Hos.

I'm sure with as popular as these snacks are that they will not be biting the dust with Hostess. Some other company will purchase the rights to them.

Jeez...now that I think about it, the last time I ate a Twinkie was probably when I was 16 years old or so.

CD | 1577 comments I just saw generic Twinkies (cream filled golden sponge cakes) & Ho-Ho's (frosted chocolate cakes w/creamy center) @ Wal-Mart. The package photos leave no doubt what they are down to being individually wrapped. W-M sells deep fryers. You have to have something to test out in hot fat on Christmas morning!
