Sarah | 1 comments Alright, so this character is extremely important, even though she will never speak in the book, on account of the fact that she killed herself. However, she will leave a note and a video to be found. She is 21 years old in the story, and lives alone, attending a local college. Usually, I can name characters quickly, but I am stuck on this one. Anyone care to help?

Ella Dominguez (elladominguez) Desiree McIntire. Jasmine cooper. Evangeline Estrada.

Gabrielle (gabshi) Makayla Jones
Mary Lee

Something rather ordinary that would be unmemorable to characters inside the story

She can speak from the grave... with the video explaining why she killed herself how about Angel or Angela or Angelina?

Sharon Lipman (sharonlipmanauthor) | 272 comments I use a website called 20000names.com or something like that. You can think of what you want your name to mean and then go from there - it has English as well as other nationalities there so there's loads of choice. All names are explained by meaning and origin.

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) I always suggest trying to make the last name a regional name, to tie them to the setting. As for the first name, look for something symbolic to the character - for example, if you made her extra feminine then consider naming her after a flower, like Lily or Rose, or a name that translates into the word "Flower" or "Blossom" like Chloe (which is Greek for blossom - and my female parrot's name :) ).

Sybil Powell (sybilpowell) | 84 comments I always pluck names from out of the air, how about Sarah McCloud it just came to me as I read your request!

Kate | 12 comments Thinking of women I know that age as of now....
how about Lexie or Ashlynn?

What is her ethnicity? Where is the story set?

message 9: by Johns (new)

Johns Matilda Kress might be a good one. I actually kinda like that name and it seems kind of ordinary.

Keith Chawgo (kchawgo) ELYSIA: From Greek Pedion Elysion, the name of the heavenly fields of Elysia, a section of the Underworld mentioned in Greek mythology. The mythological place name may have evolved from the designation of a place, or person, struck by lightning (enelysion, enelysios); if so, the name means "lightning-struck."

Wayne Smallman (waynesmallman) | 22 comments I find the best place to find names to begin with the basics: gender (which you have); race; age. And so on.

Then, I do a Google for, say, "Brazilian female footballers", or whatever nationality you choose. Usually, this'll yield a Wikipedia page and the job is — as we say around these parts — a gud'n!

Seriously, it cuts through the deeper research process and you have genuine names to work with.

I think Arianna Ford could do maybe even Steffy Lawrence

Nova (novastella) I'm looking for a name for a Water Guardian and Fire Guardian. The Water Guardian is a man and the Fire one is a woman. These people need to be at least 30 years old, just FYI.

If you can find an awsome name, you're awsome!

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 104 comments Aquaeous for the water person. Or Aquilian

Flamia, Scorchia for the girl

message 15: by Nova (new)

Nova (novastella) Nice! Thanks.

message 16: by John (new)

John Jr. (arievlex) | 43 comments When I think of names I use words that are evocative of imagery or sensory ideas that can be tied together. I would brainstorm imagery ideas first for Water: Saturation, Precipitation, Aquifer, or Deluge; for Fire: Igneous, Inflammable, Cremation, or Furnace. Next some sensory ideas for Water might be: Wet, Soak, Spray, or Drench; for Fire: Hot, Burn, Char, Scorch, or Roast.

Now I would combine them to form names. For Water Guardian maybe Deluge Drenchspray, or Satura Soakwet; for Fire Guardian maybe Furnus Roastchar, or Crema Scorchburn. If the names are too evocative for your tastes then just use a first name evocation and use a natural sounding last name like Deluge Rockbridge, or Crema Crimsonfield. Notice I used a secondary evocation for each last name rather than a primary one. Water goes under bridges, and crimson is the color of cooling lava.

message 17: by Nova (new)

Nova (novastella) Yeah, I forgot to mention. The story takes place in modern times. Any suggestions?

message 18: by John (new)

John Jr. (arievlex) | 43 comments Well like the ones I just gave or what?

message 19: by John (new)

John Jr. (arievlex) | 43 comments I don't see any connection to your Guardian's powers and their names. What do you use to generate names? They sound random.

SleeplessBookExplorer (laceebookexplorer) This helps based on what names you already like.

Lena (LC716) | 24 comments I don't know if you already chose a name or not... but what about Caia? Or Willow? Eve? Eden?
