Fine. You have your opinion I have mine. But the thing is I respect your opinion but you don't do the same.
I like piper but I don't like certain aspects of her personality. I found her pov the most boring in MoA.
You like piper and find nothing wrong with her.

I agree...wow, that was an intense debate. I have to say, though, I hate Piper in Mark of Athena, even though I liked her in Lost Hero.

Piper has never been my favorite character. Of all the books that I have EVER read, this book may have just ANNOYED me the MOST!!I love how Annabeth is so much more awesome in this book, but I think that Riordan may have downplayed Percy's awesomeness WAY too much...like how Percy was like "...but they didn't want to meet me?..." and all that, and how he felt awful cuz Jason got to meet Hercules and the undersea centaurs, and they didn't want to meet him and stuff...
Piper's passages just plain ANNOYED me! I LOVE Percy Jackson (and Annabeth of course! Epic-est couple EVAH!), and Piper was just basically ignoring them and criticizing them (like after the night on the pegasus stable), and she was almost just basically thinking about herself.
And the only times she wasn't thinking about herself, she was just thinking about how she wished she and Jason were closer, or how much more awesome Jason was compared to Percy and stuff...
Annoyed the HECK out of me.
I understand why, though...she IS a daughter of Aphrodite, goddess of love, known to be self-indulgent and shallow...
Somehow, I got the vibe that she was 10 times MORE self-centered in this book than in TLH.
Annabeth, if you ever get in a fight with Piper, KICK HER BUTT.

I'm kinda on the fence about this topic. I admit, when Piper was comparing Percy and Jason in the 'hotness' department I got a bit annoyed at first, because I thought it was a bit shallow of her and that she should be thinking about the quest. But soon afterwards, I realised I was just being biased, because I (like most in the fandom) like Percy more than Jason. As soon as a came to terms with the fact that Piper SHOULD be thinking those things, because Jason is her boyfriend (seriously, how weird would it be if she's in love with Jason but says Percy's hotter...) I liked reading Pipers POV a lot more.I admit, at times, reading from Pipers POV can get a bit boring and anticlimactic, but that is absolutely NO reason to hate and despise her. Honestly, I've heard people saying they wished she died, and I know she's a fictional character and everything, so it doesnt matter as much as if it were a real person, but still, thats going a bit far for me.
Here is a list of the demigods from the prophecy that I like:
1. Percy (Duh)
2. Annabeth (another duh)
3. Leo (do I have to say it again? Duh)
4. Hazel
5. Piper
6/7 Jason and Frank (I couldnt decide who I liked better)

I liked piper in TLH, but I HATED her in this book. She is so annoying, she tries not to act like she is Aphrodite, but it just seems to make her act more like that!!!!!

Frank being last doesnt mean I dont like him, its just that I like the other characters more than him.

Frank, Jason, and Percy are nothing compared to Leo! Leo rocks and everyone else wants to be like him. I'd take Leo over any of the characters in The Mark of Athena.

In my mine leo and piper are too childish. they dont have experiance in this world unlike Jason Percy and Annabeth, so they just seem to be out of place.
I'm sorry but Piper kinda gets on my nerves, at first I really liked her in the Lost Hero but then she started ratting on Percy and I was like Shut up Piper, we know you're jealous that Annabeth's got Percy and you got stuck with Jason... okay not really but I like Percy a lot more than Jason. And plus when you look at the pictures Percy's a lot hotter than Jason. I kinda wish Piper would shut up a bit. But then again all the new characters annoy me...okay just Leo, Piper, and Jason maybe it's cuz we didn't have Percy or Annabeth much in the Lost Hero... I don't know.

I actually don't mind it too much. Yeah, I'd choose Percy over Jason but that's me. Not everyone is attracted to the same person. We all find someone else attracted that others don't. And you got to remember that Piper is a daughter of Aphrodite. Caring about ones appearance is part of their DNA.
And even though Piper can be annoying (always worry about her boyfriend and not to focusing on the quest) don't you think that's like a lot of girls? Or even guys? So, yeah, I don't mind it too much. Even if her chapters are the more boring ones.
This might be a bit off-note but I think Piper is a bit selfish when it comes to her relationship between her and Jaeson. If she were to save Percy or Jaeson, her 1st choice would definitely be Jaeson. She is not as loyal as Percy towards her friends.
She does whine a lot but come on...she's a daughter of Aphrodite. Plus, I don't judge her for thinking of Percy as lesser than Jason. of course she's gonna think her boyfriend is better than him. Same with Annabeth. But yeah, Piper can be annoying and whiny. Same with Annabeth. I love Hazel! She's my favorite female of the seven.

Piper, well she was just being biased. And honestly, I don't know if I should be annoyed that she was being shallow or relieved that there's at least one character who didn't find Jackson impressive.

Piper is pretty typical, but not everyone in Rick's books can be just extraordinarily awesome. Piper acts like a whiny, indecisive teenage girl. Annabeth and Hazel don't because they're a bit more mature, and experienced with saving the world and such. So don't go too hard on Piper. She's actually trying to be good, but doesn't have tons of experience with quests OR guys. She need a better sense of humor, in my strong opinion. I would like her better if she laughed more.
Piper isn't that bad. I think she just worries about Jason a lot because jason is perfect( in her mind) and she thinks she isn't as good as him. and she also hates it when he's always acting distant so that might be why she constantly thinks about him.

Piper never came off to me as a strong character like Annabeth or Percy or even Leo. However I always liked how she wasn't the typical Aphrodite girl and she basically destroyed a god with a CORNUCOPIA which I thought was pretty impressive. That comment about Percy being unimpressive did bother me because I have the biggest fangirl crush on him (but really who doesn't?) however Jason is her boyfriend and anyone compared to him should seem unimpressive (even if it is Percy).

She's trying to find her path- maybe she could do it in a slightly less annoying way, but whatever. hopefully RR will develop her character a little more so we have more to like about her :)
Agreed. I also think a part of it is that...well, she's just not Annabeth. We're so used to a strong, tough female character. So reading about Piper, who is totally different, is kind of a shock. At least Rick doesn't repeat the same characters in different forms.
I don't really NOT like Piper, but I don't get how anyone could like Jason better than Percy. I mean, maybe it's because I was so attached to the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series, but really.I mean sure, Jason's cute and strong and powerful and loyal and blah blah blah, but to me, he doesn't really have a ... personality. Like with Percy you can predict some of his moves and reactions because the character just has so much PERSONALITY. Jason's just boring in comparison.

Well, this has been a subject of contest lately even though the post that sparked it was from almost a month ago.
I don’t love Piper.
Yes, she acts like a normal teenage girl, and so is arguably the most relatable character of the newbies. She goes through heartbreak when her boyfriend of a few weeks wakes up one day and doesn’t remember her and then it turns out everything is just a dream. That must be horrible. Yes, her father doesn’t pay her as much attention as he should.
But my main issue with is that she’s rarely grateful for the things she has.
She has a father who’s alive. She has friends, even if it turns out one of them wasn’t actually present for the last three months of their friendship. She’s still got Leo. She has a new family. She has millions of dollars at her disposal (and yes, I know that money doesn’t buy happiness). She’s not dumb.
She’s gorgeous — and complains about it. It’s not that she’s been told she’s pretty her whole life but has self-image issues. A goddess makes her drop-dead beautiful and all she wants to do is get rid of her “curse”. While she doesn’t like the attention, she could at least send up a “thanks, mom” or something. It’s not every day a goddess turns you into someone whose looks would make a model cry.
What bothers most people (or at least, most teenage girls) about Piper, though, is that she is a normal hormonal teenager.
Like us.
We complain. We cry when we’re frustrated or sad or scared. We wouldn’t know how to wield a knife properly without at least a few days of training. We are emotional. We don’t see ourselves for how we really are. We obsess over our crushes (real-life or fictional). We’re whiny and bratty and take things for granted.
We want someone to look up to, not a mirror to look into.
Piper is our mirror. And that’s one of the reasons we despise her.
