Does Any one get annoyed by way Piper thinks about Percy and whines a lot in her mind
OMG YES!!! It gets soo annoying! I mean no one has to whine THAT much! I would sometimes stop reading just because I'm reading a a paragraph of Piper complaining and whine and compare Percy and Jason. They're sometimes practically the same. They're both strong, cute, sons of the Big Three, and a lot more! So stop complaining!! Those are my opinions... Just saying.....
Yeah she DOES, actually.And she seems to think that Jason's appearance is way better than Percy (and complimenting his handsomeness in almost most chapters she narrates). I mean, saying that Jason is slightly taller than Percy is okay, but more handsome? Not sure... Percy and Jason is almost equal in all terms, I think.
Well, I can see why she thinks like that. I mean, she's Aphrodite's daughter and her dad is an actor.
But I don't hate her. It's just I got bored and tired and annoyed a lot when I was reading the chapters she narrated. And I definitely don't love her either.
I was more interested when I was reading Percy's, Annabeth's, and Leo's chapters. (Maybe the only new characters that I truly like is Leo xD)
Anyway... it's just my opinion. No offense :)
She does compare them too much, but when your in love you think that he's the best dude in the world and no one else measures up. And sometimes negative thoughts about people pop into my head and I'm like, "Were in the heck did that come from." so I can kind of understand it.
Well, she does do that, but maybe she's kind of worried abouther relationship with Jason and whatever. Piper does complain a lot, but honestly, I don't really care. I thought that it made her character a bit less perfect..
Piper does whine a lot, but I kind of like the fact the Rick Riordan wrote a character that's a little less...perfect, I guess? It does start to bother me after a while, especially since some of the seven are a lot worse off then she is and yet she's still the one complaining the most.
Her comparing Jason and Percy is what really makes me mad though. Firstly, because I'm so freaking biased towards Percy that he will always, always, be better then Jason in my view. Secondly, because she's dating Jason. If she's so madly in love with him that she even thinks about marrying him, why does she need to compare the two constantly?

Frank is more annoying than Piper, and I like Frank a lot. She does NOT whine. Have you ever heard whining before? If you have then you will realize what Piper is doing is NOT whining. She compared Percy and Jason ONCE. And she wasn't the only one. Even Annabeth herself compared them.

I find no decent reason to dislike Piper.

I hate what she thinks about Percy! It makes me soooooo mad that she compares him to Jason and thinks that he has no idea what he's doing half the time! Percy is freaking amazing and she's so stupid to think otherwise!!!!! And Mika, I agree with you 100%
Ok, I see that I cannot convince all you people that Piper is an amazing character. So, my advice is, either deal with her 'annoying whininess' or stop reading the book because she is just too awful to deal with.
I honestly kinda 'like' Piper in TLH though sometimes I got bored as I was reading her chaptersBut in TMoA, she seems to be ... *sorry* annoying and I kept wishing her chapters to finish quickly because I wanted to read Percy's, Annabeth's, Leo's POVs. I think things in their POVs are more interesting. And funny (especially in Leo's)
But now I realize the reason why Piper in TMoA seems that boring and annoying to me. Out of the other narrators, Piper is the least I like, honestly. I definitely love Percy and Annabeth. Leo is just pure funny and entertaining.
Maybe the three of them 'outshine' Piper (?)
She could be more likeable if she tries to act less 'impulsive' (example: kissing Jason when she, Jason and Percy were almost dead)

What I am saying is that, for not only Piper, I kind of lost some respect for a couple of the characters. I don't like them as much anymore more, they are a bit immature. I think Rick made Jason seam like he's superior and conceded all of the time, even through Piper's perspective. Leo, to me, now sound like someone who doesn't once think about what his actions will do, other's thoughts, or reason. Piper only seams to care about herself and her relationships and not care about others, a bit self-centered. Percy just seams weak, like he isn't as heroic as he used to be and even though he didn't have that much confidence in the first series now it is like he is depressed. I thought Leo seamed more noble, sensible and heroic in the first book. I have not changed my opinion of Hazel, Frank, or Annabeth. I still like them the same amount as I always have. Rick might have done all this because he wanted some characters to be less important, but think that's a stretch. Sorry I wrote so much, I guess I have a lot to say.

I love how all of us are fighting over fictional characters that aren't and will never exsist. It's just great. If you don't like Piper fine, it's just that your starting to complain more than Piper really does. You might want to think about that one.

OMG, I posted my comment weeks ago, now I look back and you guys argued that much? Not trying to be mean or anything, but can't you guys just accept other people's opinions? You're starting to complain more than Piper....
I remember that when I was reading Mark of Athena and I saw that the chapters that followed were hers, I would die a little. And, eventually, I would close the book or consider to skip all her chapters, but I don't have the heart to do so. I just feel wrong, but her chapter contributed to the narration of what was happening. But I hated her chapters, she whines waaay too much, and I was just like :"DUDE!! The world is about to end and you are worried that Jason doesn't pay that much attention to you!!?? What's wrong with you??"
I have never like Piper that much, but thanks to Mark of Athena, I dislike her waay more. I try to like her, but she is very difficult to love. (Sorry to all of those Piper lovers)

When I started / wrote this disscussion I didn't mean I don't like her it. Just sometimes It gets to me that she is kinda ...over impulsive, whiny & I get it somepeople like her I respect that. But to me I don't like reading people in a death quest or sometimes almost deadly scene whining about there boyfriends or just….... I don't know but when she's not whining (which is only 10% of her POV ) she is..okay I guess-A
I say no. But I think Piper fancies Percy.
I think she worries more then complains. She worries a lot, actually. But she is in a pretty stressful situation, and she mostly keeps it to herself. Sure, she can be a little annoying, but she's probably handling the situation the way just about every non-prefect-fictional-character would. You just have to put it in perspective. They all have their problems. Leo's an airhead, Percy is to impulsive, Nico is secretive, and Coach Hedge is just plain obsessed. You know, that kind of thing. Worrying about her boyfriend is just her annoying trait. Now don't get me wrong, I love all the other characters. She's just the, shall I say, less perfect one.
I just feel that piper talks a lot about Jason and that it would be nicer if she concentrated on the quest more.I also feel that initially she felt like she and Percy were not supposed to along. This kinda pissed me off because Percy was nothing but nice to her.

Piper is an average girl. I think that's what Rick was trying to do with her, trying to show us that you don't need to be above average to be a hero. She worries that she's not good enough for her boyfriend, she complains a lot, she can be annoying sometimes. Believe it or not, that's how most girls act, even some of you act like that. I know I act like that sometimes. Don't be so quick to judge Piper, because there are actual people like Piper on these forums and they might get offended.
anyway..., i hate piper.., she never does anything special xept complainig about everything..... i just hate the way she thinkx about percy although he was never evr rude to her or anything.....but seriously man, she is a pain in the neck!!!! i luve Mark Of Athena an all, but her chapters r THE WORST....

I don't like Piper she rubs me wrong way and she seems weak like all she can do is talk and make people do stuff but other than that i don't thimk she can fight or do anything else like annabeth relies on her own strength cuz she doesn't have any special powers i like annabeth

Why are you guys all concerned about Piper? She's just a fictional character, it's not like she's real. If you have a problem with her, talk to Rick Riordan. I just don't understand what the big deal is, but it would be nice if you stopped complaining. Your mad that Piper complains, you should listen to yourself.

And here you guys (Leah and kendraseth ) complaining about us if u think it's such a stupid discussion then why are you taking your very important time to post on it we were simply comparing Ideas and discussing pro's and con's of Piper I started this discussion to see if anyone else thought about and to discuss with those who did. I'm sorry for you if its that unnecessary why do you post?Not liking one character and discussing her/his good/bad qualities,does not mean we do not like the book it is much better then wasting time ranting about how this discussion is pointless

We've all had different lives. We've all been raised differently and we should be more compassionate. Maybe the reason you don't like her is because you wouldn't act like she does and that is fine, but Piper may have had a different life than you. The way she acted was maybe the only way she could cope with the situations. Her dad was never around, and Jason is one of the only ones that truly loves her. This group of seven is like her family, and we all get in fights and argue with family. She's human, give her a chance. She proved her faithfulness to the group many times and proved to be quite and asset to the team.

Is that piper one time maybe more kept thinking that Percy looked unimpressive next to Jason and he has to be reined in by Annabeth and I get it that she loves Jason but come on not one character other than her thinks that in all the books . And isn't it kind of boring reading about all the whining and the worrying about her and Jason sometimes I feel like strangling her. I mean really doesn't she have anything else to worry about?
I get when she does it now and then but that was she mostly does
