i just saw this and it was incredible. I left the theater feeling completely and utterly devastated.
anyway, watching it, i saw parallels to remains of the day. Similar to Stevens in Remains of the Day, Ari, the protagonist of Waltz With Bashir, has blocked out memories of a highly traumatic event (the Sabra and Shatila massacre) and spends the film trying to rebuild and come to terms with the event in his mind.
I think it is a good film to pair with Remains of the Day (that isn't actually Remains of the Day) because both explore similar moral themes. I highly, highly, highly, recommend this film. It's one of the best movies i've seen in the past year.
