Michael (mwelser) | 217 comments Hi,

is it only me who finds the currently followed method for creating alternate cover editions quite cumbersome?

Basically, one is asked to re-duplicate manually information which is already in the system. Why not have a "clone" button which will do the necessary extraction of information for you, taking care of the "combine" at the same time?

Furthermore, because ISBNs cannot be duplicated, the only link-back to the original edition is informal (the note is free text, after all) only and will not display in shelf lists, which may cause additional pain. A more structured approach, e.g. an additional field "original ISBN", could handle that nicely.

Have such things already been proposed? Should I post that in the Feedback group instead? Just trying to get a feeling...
